I went on 03/04 to get a oil change At Advanced Auto repair. Some add on facebook this is the 1st time here and the last. The Miles at that time 35,136. This week went to the store and used my windshield wiper but the windshield was dirty so I hit the water button no water??? Wait I just had my oil changed...Got the paper work out said "TOP OFF ALL FLUIDS"??? NO you did not. Got me thinking did they do anything? Looked at the Miles 35,622 so I have only gone 486 miles...... Now I will need to have all the work they said they did checked...My tire lite was on they said we put air in it will go off soon. I've been here several times before for oil changes on my Prius. These guys are great, always very friendly and incredibly courteous. Came in today for oil change but needed to be out within an hour. Kris was very polite and reassuring, said it won't be a problem. (Fingers crossed ). Man!! These guys are great!! So I did receive my money back for the sensor that was NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY. They would not give me my money back until I provided the part. The paperwork from the dealer states it was not installed properly and copy given to them. This is after I took my car back twice, and like I said, at that point why would I take it back again when every time there was something else messing up. They nickel and dime you for everything. I will always be going to the dealer. This place is not worth it. Waste of time and money. Then Chris proceeds to harass me to " DELETE " my review because I got my money back. I drive a BMW not the newest in today's modern era but it's a BMW! Therefore I had a gas leak out of my 1st fuel injector. My car constantly smelled like gas when I had the AC/Heater running, at times even when you walked around in front of the car. I took it to Advanced Auto Repair in Vista and i was so skeptical at first because I thought they were trying to steal my money. After the fuel injector was fixed and also they checked the other 5 injectors plus the full alignment being fixed. I took my Tahoe to Advanced Auto to replace the fuel pump. They fixed the fuel pump and the first time I took it out after that it stalled on a busy highway with my husband, daughter and four month old granddaughter on board. We had to call AAA and be towed to Advanced Auto. They said the new fuel pump was bad. After another fuel pump was installed, I drove to Costco and on the way back I smelled gas and there was a loud clicking sound from the middle of Tahoe. I took it to Advanced Auto and they "fixed it" and said that I had filled up the gas tank too much. Three months later I still smelled gas and the check engine light came on. I took the car to another mechanic and he said there was a "large EVAP leak" and "after performing a smoke test found leak from top of gas tank. He dropped the gas tank and found the fuel pump O ring protruding from the lock ring. He also found fuel in the Vapor Canister. Besides not being able to correctly install a fuel pump, I also believe Advanced Auto hooked up the fuel pump/Vapor Canister incorrectly which caused fuel to go into the Vapor Canister. I had to pay the second mechanic $1,206 to fix what Advanced Auto did and the repair may not be done because fuel in the Vapor Canister can clog the fuel injectors which is another $1,400 to repair. I have spoken to Bo, the owner, about this with no success and he said he will fight my assertions if I file a dispute with my credit card company. read more

Went in for the first time for an oil change & smog. They were very courteous, answered all of my questions, and honored their online coupon for smog. They also offered me a detailed report of the service they provided, which I like to keep for my records, and upcoming recommendations as my car is 150000+. The only thing that knocked 'me down a star is the timing was much longer than expected ( I arrived about 9:35 and didn't leave until 12:20) which, unfortunately, affected the rest of my day. We'll see how they perform in the future. Have used this garage a few more times. This last time I was in a bit of a jam, as my alternator failed &my car was dead. We called to see if we could get the car repaired that same day, and Bo & his team exceeded our expectations. We managed to get the car towed to them & they fixed it in a very manageable timeframe, and MUCH LESS expensive than going to the dealer. Thanks, guys! Great job. Changing you to 5 stars! The owner is friendly but I should have gone somewhere else for an alignment since I feel I need custom specs. I have 1.5" coil spacers on the front of my truck. Looking at the front, visually the front tires had some positive camber. This bothered me and I figure id come here because of a coupon and the good reviews. I come in right as they open. The owner greets me and asks what my concerns were and I told him about the positive camber and that i installed coil spacers in the front and that the steering wheel was cocmed to the left while driving. He said no problem, we will get it corrected but i was charged $5 extra to have the wheel corrected....that should have been my que to leave. A young tech worked on my truck, 20-30 minutes later he was done. I feared it was a toe-n-go job - which it was. The alignment spec sheet that i got wasnt even for the right year and model truck but same make. So i figure ill take it back again since it is a lifetime alignment. Second visit - told an older tech about the camber. They put the truck on the rack and exclaimed "everything is within spec". "Everything within spec" is a big range though! Toe should be set as close to zero as possible with a teeny bit of toe in with total toe between .19 to .30,my total toe was .52! Caster was in the red on the alignment sheet, camber was in the green but both were still "within specs". So my truck has positive camber, too much toe-in and the caster is off. I basically paid $45 to have a straight steering wheel. The toe was adjusted better than when i came in but nothing else was adjusted.I am looking for another alignment place with a lot of experience since i wont be coming back here. read more

For a good honest auto repair shop give Advanced Auto Repair a try. After reading several Yelp reviews I choose to give these guys a try and I have been very satisfied ever since. I had a bad leak on my Toyota Highlander that needed some attention so I went on Yelp and tried to found the most honest and reliable repair shop in my area. I took my car to these guys to hear the diagnosis and estimated repair costs. The owner Bo was very up front and even lifted my car to show the source of the leak. The great thing was his explanation of the repairs and him not trying to overkill you with technical terms and explaining in an understandable manner without making you feel dumb. He even further guaranteed to give me the replaced parts and show the new parts replaced, unlike some other oil change shop, which was recently shown to not even touch recommended and charged parts to be replaced. After a few hours Bo called me and explained that the repairs were done and the car should have no leaks. He guaranteed his work and if any further leaks to bring back and they would take care of with no further charge. You can't buy this kind of honesty or service in town, let alone, from an auto repair shop. Its unfortunate many auto repair shops give the industry a bad name, but these guys are one of the few and far in between that are straight with the customer. I will be coming back for life and recommending all my family and friends. read more

Bo is amazing! I came here based off the reviews and because they are open on Sunday's. I needed a new battery in my car. Bo tested it for free and gave me the choice between a $105 battery and a $139 battery with a two year warranty that is stronger. I chose the warranty battery and he installed it right then and there. He also only charged me $10 for the labor. That is AWESOME! All in all, I was in and out within 30 minutes. He made me feel like my business mattered even though he had people waiting and other cars. Apparently, they are a one stop shop. They do everything except tires because tires taken up too much space. But he had a free tow truck to the tire place he uses. So that's awesome! I just moved to vista and I will be using Bo for everything in my car from here on out, as will my parents. This place (and Bo) is awesome. read more

Excellent costumer service. I went to install front and rear rotors with rear brakes. To our surprise, my 92 Acura Vigor front rotor system is unique that the mechanics had to disassemble the whole front wheel, shock section. What a pain in the butt. Bo also explains that the bearings might be bad and called for the parts availability, it turns out that each bearing would be $100 each. So before they finish disassembling, I decided to not do the front rotors and agreed to pay the labor for assembly $30. All in all, it was a good experience and I'll come back for more work on my cars;) Thank you Bo. read more

Had a smog test done here on 8/20. The head service writer, Bo, was very friendly and thoroughly explained everything in depth. He even offered some candy from a dish on the desk. The waiting area had comfortable chairs and a TV on. The $20 smog was by appointment only. I didn't want to wait, so I went ahead and got it done on the spot. It was only an extra $9 plus $8 for the certificate, making it $37. That's still cheaper than most other places and luckily this one is close by. Convenient. read more

This is a CONDITIONAL review. For two years I've gone to Advanced for maintenance issues with my 2011 Ford Focus. I've noticed many go there for more serious repairs. I had a major repai arise. I was assigned Chris as the repair man. Chris called and sent video of the repair needed. In two days he sent another issue he discovered relative to the repair, and with pics and video Chris supported the need. This happened three times. The cost started at $900. Today after the third revisit the cost is $2900. When asked why the cost increased after he started the work he responded he did not want to overcharge. I like that, I don't like the increase in cost. Here's what I'm doing:.1) I authorized cost for repairs 2) Chris sent me a 12 month 12000 mile warranty on parts and labor 3) in or around April 28 and October 28, 2021 I will post follow up yelps so you will know if the company stands behind their products and services. I'm hoping they do, and YELP will be abreast of what happens. I want to believe Advanced Auto stands behind their product. read more

How I discover Bo and his auto shop was thru the previous auto shop he had! The first time I had went in about 10 months ago, for my rear led right light to get it check at the previous auto shop. Without me asking, he thoroughly had his guys inspect my car without any inspection fee! He than came back and told me my air filter was also dirty! And I said to him how could that be? I was just at the Norwalk Toyota dealer just a few days before. And you would think that the dealer told me when they had told me to replace air cabin filter too! Bo was like.. "you don't believe me?, I'll show you!" And so he showed me how dirty it was to prove to me. After I found out about it, I was so upset(if you go read the review I left for 'Norwalk Toyota' you would know why I was so upset then). But than again I'm also very thankful to have found Bo and his guys!!! Since then, I had trust Bo and his guys for all of my Prius needs; from oil change, to replace new tires, and getting my car detailed here too! I am always so pleased with there work! Because they are nice, honest, and best of all affordable! Especially Bo the owner is super friendly and welcoming! I really didn't want to leave a bad review because Bo and his staff are all very nice and respectful. However I feel the need to communicate to anyone that may have a Volkswagen to go somewhere else. I originally went in because my car would die over night. It just simply wouldn't turn on in the mornings. Well I payed for the diagnostic and they said it was a fuse, fixed the fuse and they said it was the battery, fixed the battery and they said it was the starter, fixed the starter and they said it was the alternator, fixed the alternator then they said it was another fuse...so I fixed that fuse and well 3 months and approximately $1300 later and I'm sill having the issue with my car except it's worse and now my car turns off while I'm driving(yes even on the freeway). When I told them I was still having the problem they told me i would have to pay for the diagnosis again...well a month later now and I just left the Volkswagen service department and they said if you pay for a diagnostic then you SHOULD get a diagnosis and be able to fix that problem no excuses. They said a diagnostic would have found the problem right away and couldn't understand how I was told so many things were wrong with my car. I'm just very disappointed because I spent so much money at this shop and my car is running worse than ever. I don't want to discredit this shop I'm sure they do well with many different types of cars but like I said if you have a Volkswagen go somewhere else, my car was at their shop for 2-3months and it's in worse condition than when I brought it in. 2/7/18 I'm not sure how to respond to the owner's (bo) comment but saying I wanted the diagnosis "free" is very inaccurate, after you "fixed" my car and it would no longer turn on you OFFERED to work on it (diagnose it again) because how the heck are you going to return a car to someone when it doesn't turn on? And why would you expect someone to pay for another diagnosis when the first one you did which you then proceeded to fix the problems for caused my car to be in worse condition than when I first went to your shop? I understand you're trying to defend your business but be honest. I see in all your responses to people's negative reviews you sound very defensive and don't make very valid points.
