I refused and paid the $84 and called Weston who came out and told me the issue had nothing to do with a leak or charge up. Mind you I have a fairly new unit (2 years old). Weston found the issue and fixed it for way under $200. I therefore was very impressed with their honesty and professionalism and am already looking to have them come and do my semi- annual services. Brad was out first thing in the morning after we spoke and was beyond helpful. I am in the industry (Though not a licensed repair technician) and my initial troubleshooting was right on track (per Brad) but he found the actual issue pretty quickly, all while explaining some of the nuances here in NC to me and things that are different than back home (tips to keep things running smooth and lower house humidity.) - the issue turned out to be a pretty simple one, and the price for the service call was VERY reasonable. Being in the industry (on the commercial side) I've seen some things and BP's pricing was more than fair. Would absolutely call again if and when I have the need.

That's when we found the root cause was due to Landen's negligence. I contacted them to try and receive a reimbursement (full or partial)of that fee ($150), which they refused. I then cancelled my annual inspection which was already paid for. They refused to refund that as well. Extremely disappointed is an understatement.

RP1430AJINA stopped working due to the thermal expansion valve (TXV) wire becoming detached in the heat pump unit. The reason for my one-star review, Marty does not stand behind the poor-quality product he recommended: (1) I had another company assess the issue at $40.00 (yes only forty dollars @ 2hr service time) but Marty's team bills me $536.25 to reconfirm the TXV was the issue because Marty's billing practice is charging the consumer by the hour once the technicians leave their office at a rate of $124/hr. (2) Marty stated the Rheem system is still under warranty for parts, but his company's labor fee to replace the TXV is apx. $1,600.00. He also stated, if I wanted relief on the labor quote, I should call the Rheem manufacture for assistance. I stated that's ridiculous, you were the HVAC installer provider who recommended the unit and now it's not functioning less than six years! In summary, it feels like I'm being scammed by Marty. He recommended a HVAC unit that is faulty and knows he can make additional money on labor because only the parts are covered under Rheem's warranty. See the attached photo where the welded TXV wire is disconnected, probably faulty welder workmanship. ****Buyer Beware of this company's HVAC recommendations and billing practices!!!

We have had a service contract with one of the big name A/C and plumbing companies for well over 15…read moreyears. When they came to check our A/C this Spring they told us the coils on our upstairs unit needed to be replaced since they were leaking coolant. Their salesman came out and gave us a quote. Because we were long-time customers we qualified for a 10% discount, and then our salesman called the Vice President of the company who he put on speaker phone and asked if they could do anything better for us. The VP "generously" offered an additional 5% discount. Honestly I felt like I was buying a used car. This same company had replaced our upstairs system about 10 years ago and they had maintained it twice a year. The salesman told us that typically we should expect 12-15 years out of an A/C system so I wondered why ours didn't make it that long since they did all of our maintenance. As part of the quote the salesman threw in a few extra freebies, like installing an AprilAire filter housing and filter (which you only need to change once a year and does a better job than the Filtrete filters) and replacing our air returns with larger ducts to improve heat and cooling distribution in the house, and rebalancing the damper system. Some friends had recommended Shumate so we called them for a quote. Marty, the President of the company, came out and explained our options, including some money-saving options that the other company hadn't mentioned. He impressed me as a man of integrity. After he worked up his quote I asked him or quotes on the other stuff that had been offered by the other company as freebies. Once everything was added in Shumate's quote (without the "discounts") was still a bit lower than the other company's and we were getting the exact same units installed and the exact same work being done - we could have saved more if we had chosen not to install what the other company was tacking on as "freebies". The Shumate technician was on time, courteous, and knew his job. He was able to get the job done in a timely manner and cleaned things up nicely. We've had our unit for a couple of months now without any problems. The extra duct work they did has helped with the distribution of the cool air in our house and they showed me how to adjust the dampers in the attic so that if things needed changing that I could do it myself if I didn't want to call them. I'm thinking that we'll be with Shumate for a long, long time because of their integrity, quality of work, and value.

Poole's was up front that just coming out after they closed would be $700, so I spent the night at a friend's. The next morning, they managed to move some things around to get me in that day at 10am. A two-man team showed up and got to work while k went back upstairs to keep working. They were polite and explained things. Fortunately they did clear out a clog in about one hour. I appreciate that Poole's will actually give you a figure/quote without charging you a fee to simply come out, then give an estimate. I would call them again (crossing my fingers that won't be necessary).
