The effort of recovering the data ended up being very challenging and took longer than any of us expected, but at the end Five Star was able to recover over 99% of the files--and I'm happy to say, the 1% of files were not important to me, so the 99% they recovered covered everything I needed. Despite that significant extra work, they invoiced me only for the original quoted amount. I'm happy with the results but also the professionalism. When I first reached out to Five Star, they got back to me at the start of the next business day and, after answering a few follow-up questions, I had a quote and scheduled to drop off my drive the same day. I wasn't sure where to look, and out of the blue, I decided to do some googling and came across this country with, needless to say, a very appealing name! After looking into it, I saw a couple of fantastic things that were green flags immediately: 1. The reviews were glowing (and here's another one - and I never write anything). People seemed to love the company's mission, and I even read that the founder (more in a sec!) created the company just for that reason: he didn't feel people should pay an outrageous amount of money to get their data back. 2. Brian himself. What a guy. He was active on a bunch of forums, and you could tell he put together a small, dedicated team who really valued that people trusted them with their services. And Brian and his team saw me through a bunch of the chaos, answering a bunch of my questions, putting me at ease, and then - through the wonders of the US postal service - procured all of my data again.
