Pros: This office is nice and high-tech. The doctor is warm and sociable. When I would call to make appointments, Dr. Dao would be the one to answer and schedule. I don't know if that's good or bad but I've never been to any dental or medical practice like this. I didn't want to come here anymore after 3-4 visits because with every visit, it became fishy to me. I had HMO but everything recommended apparently was out-of-pocket. I was paying about $400-600 per visit. In my last visit, Dr. Dao, she mended 2 cavities I think and then told me she sees one coming in but won't do anything at this time and will see in the next visit. Well, I knew what that meant. The thing is I brush twice daily (not brushing immediately after eating) with decent technique/timing, typically floss after meals, don't snack much or frequently, and rarely drink sweet drinks. I'm not saying that I can't get cavities but they were found in every visit? I asked what I could do to improve but was just told to brush my teeth more often. I went to a new dentist about a year later and she did find a budding cavity, but it was nowhere near the one Dr. Dao had told me one was coming in. Dr. also explained why it was in that location, which made sense. New Dr. did not recommend any treatment to the cavity at this time. My new Dr. also pointed out that my white fillings had turned gray because whoever did them didn't do a good job of cleaning out my old silver fillings. It was Dr. Dao who pushed me to change out my silver fillings for white ones in my first visit without explaining pros/cons of the older silver fillings vs newer white fillings. White fillings are more expensive and aesthetic but silver fillings are hardier, last longer, take longer to set when first put in. I am a practical person. If I had known, silver fillings would've stayed. My fillings on both sides of my mouth were changed and I think a deep cleaning too was all done in one session. I learned this was not recommended or supposed to be done. I relayed my suspicions to my friend and he told me I was "scammed." Now, I won't call it a scam since Dr. did do procedures on me, but I was poorly advised and oversold on procedures. My friend's best friend is a dentist and would tell him stories about practices that had wanted him to scam customers (of course he did not want to work at those places). I went to Dr. Dao based off of good ratings on Yelp but my new Dr. is recommended from my friend. My friend is also the one that explained to me silver vs white fillings. I came to read the negative reviews and realized I should've read those before going to Dr. Dao. read more

The word "dentist" already has a bad reputation and is associated with bad connotations. Dentists strip you away from your money, dentists trick you, dentists will drill your brains out (according to children), etc. The list goes on.. As a commoner once, I also had all these bad feelings about dentists... That is until I was taken care of by Dr. Dao! She was not only friendly to me, she was also very gentle with my teeth. She would always ask me if anything was hurting, and to let her know if she was giving me any pain (she never did). On top of everything, she would let me know what she's about to do, and why she's doing it. I even took my dad here for his root canal. As his daughter, I can yelp for him and say that she did an AMAZING and FANTASTIC job on him. I am never going to any other dentists... that's for sure. You can definitely trust that she knows her stuff, and unlike the older generation dentists, Dr. Dao is always up to date with the technology and treatments in the dentistry field. Clean place. Originally selected Dr Dao because she took my insurance (a dreaded HMO) and located super close to our house (same plaza as Vons, close to Starbucks). I love her small office feel and personalized attention - feels like visiting friends whenever I go. She's professional and fast and it's cute that she likes to hum and chat about random nonoffensive topics with her assistant while they work. Big TVs in each lane and even had a good experience with typical cleaning, cavity fixes, and even zoom whitening here (my teeth were surprisingly sensitive just afterwards but recovered fully after a few days). Even though I'm switched over to a PPO plan and moved about 30 minutes away I still like going back to see them! read more

ALL the fillings she put in my child FELL OUT. Then I went back again, fell out again. My friend who recommended her then told me all her child's fillings also fell out!!! Plus I payed too much for terrible work. And she root canaled partially a baby molar. Took a l9ng time for a child. This office is such a rip off and I left very frustrated and without a cleaning at all. I am 26 with healthy teeth- I floss every night and brush twice a day. I tried this office because my insurance changed and I needed to find a dentist in my area. The dentist gave me a quote sheet after that said not only that I had cavities, but that I needed a deep cleaning with multiple treatments. Each treatment was going to be an out of pocket expense- totaling an additional $500 for the various treatments recommended for me. Not to mention she never actually cleaned my teeth, I just had x- rays. I know my insurance covers a 6 month cleaning, so I was very skeptical. I don't appreciate when a business is willing to take advantage of their customers. I got a second opinion and had zero cavities and needed only a polish, which made me further disappointed with the initial quote I was given from here. read more

Came here because of new insurance and it's close to our house. After our first visit here, we left with an estimated bill of $5,000 for me and $3,000 for my husband. Went back to our dentist friend in Orange County. She said I didn't need any work, I've been brushing and flossing too hard, hence the pain I went in for. Eased up on the brushing and flossing pressure, and pain is gone. I would recommend getting a second opinion if you go here for something and are told all your teeth need crowns. Last month, I had a root canal that got reinfected and had to be redone. My tooth was very brittle and I knew it was time to get it crowned. My cousin referred me to this office. During my first appointment, Dr was very approachable and communicable. My mouth hurt while talking, but I still enjoyed our little chit chats. She made me a crown within 2 weeks! Well this facility has a bunch of new equipment with flat screen TVs, etc. in the rooms. The dentist is very friendly and nice. There was literally no other patients when I walked in so there was no wait time, which was really good for me. The dentist seems like she does not really know what to do without the fancy technology So although this dental office has a nice feel and a lot of new stuff, I can't say I recommend this place... perhaps in a few years when the dentist is more experienced. read more

I went to Dr.Dao and she was really nice and not pushy. She told me I had X number of cavities and two of them are critical. I didn't listen to her and they served me right. I had to do root canal on one of them. She did a pretty good Job in my opinion. I have to go back to get my crowning done. I always dreaded the dentist but after having my wife rave about her dentist, I decided to give this place a try. I haven't been to the dentist in 5 years so was thinking I needed a lot of work. After the initial visit, a full treatment plan was worked up and everything explained to me in detail. Dr Dao is great and I feel more comfortable now going to the dentist. Office is also clean, organized, friendly, and state of the art. I decided to proceed with some treatment today with the gum treatment that included a deep cleaning and irrigation and I feel great. I would never go back! Over charged my limited insurance fund hundreds of dollars for a "deep" cleaning. Then presented an unnecessary treatment plan for cavities and filling replacements that would have used the rest of the funds, it seemed suspicious, so I declined. Previously did a crown that was ok, but used an inexperienced assistant in training to do most of the work. A few months later, I cracked another tooth, went to different dentist that did a much better crown, said the cleaning looked like it not even been done, and said I did not need any further treatment for cavities or filling replacements, completely contradicting Advanced Dental Smiles. This dentist does bad work, over-charges and recommends unneeded treatment to pad the bill. read more
