Please DO NOT give this office your business. I went into Dr. Nguyen's office looking for a new local dentist. Her staff was personable enough, but the work she did was so terrible I had to get it RE-DONE just weeks later. My new dentist was appalled that she would have allowed me to leave her office and arranged to have x-rays sent to my insurance company to explain why I had to have re-work done so quickly. The insurance company and my new dentist asked that she PAY ME BACK for the work she did. I went in for regular dental work and needed two fillings. I warned her up front that since I was a pre-teen, I have had a very abnormal reaction to numbing agents. It takes A LOT to get my numb. This is because I have a central nerve that runs VERY close to the surface. I have had multiple doctors confirm this. She said okay, no problem. When the work started she gave me one round of numbing and tried to start work. I told her, "I'm sorry this is very painful. I told you I am a little different." She said, "Oh you just need some more time for it to work." OK. She tried again 15 mins later. Again, INTENSE pain. I said, "Please, I am telling you, this is still painful." She reluctantly gave me another round and waited another 20 mins. (Mind you I am now 45 mins in the chair and nothing has been done). She tried again and I said it was better, but still could feel things. She said, "You shouldn't be able to feel this." And I reminded her for a THIRD time that I have a different physiology than many. She then leaned into me and asked, "Well I know you may not want to say this, but are you on drugs?" EXCUSE ME?!! "Well this would happen if you were a heavy recreational drug user. You should just tell me if you're an addict. That would make this easier." I was STUNNED. I had warned her prior to doing ANY of this that I have had trouble with numbness and THIS was her reaction?! It sadly bears stating, that I am a black woman... I hope that is not why she made this ridiculous and offensive assumption, but ..... "NO." I told her. "I am NOT an addict or drug user. This is exactly what I told you about before we started nearly an hour ago." "OK if you insist... but it really would make things easier." I wanted to get up and walk out, but I am now mid-drilling (she did SOME before I couldn't take the pain anymore) and I didn't know how to leave with my mouth LITERALLY mid-procedure. When she finally gave a final round of numbing agent and I could take it. But since we were so far behind she kept stopping the work and going to work on OTHER PATIENTS in the middle of my procedure. Finally 2 hours in on 2 fillings, she barely buffed my fillings and said...OK you'll have to come back another time for me to finish. The feeling in my mouth was UNBELEIVABLE. The filling was so rough I could feel my tongue was going to be rubbed raw. My jaw was ACHING (I have TMJ) from holding it open for 2 hours. And what I didn't know is that her work was so harsh that my gums would recede. They are STILL (a year later) not normal and I have to have my new dentist put a protective sheath around them every 6 months or so to prevent pain because my gums have never been normal again around those teeth. My new dentist is lovely. She Immediately LISTENED when I told her about my issue with numbing and I have NEVER had a problem again. When she saw the work Dr. Nguyen had done, she was so disturbed she said she wanted to make sure she documented the HORRENDOUS work she did so that it could be corrected without me having to pay out of pocket. (Insurance companies will not pay for duplicative work in the same 6 month period without documentation.) The insurance company agreed to pay -- process that. I asked my new dentist what I should do about this. I was traumatized, discriminated against and my teeth were REALLY messed up. She said the only thing I could do would be to ask for the portion of the work I paid for to be returned. When I called Dr. Nguyen's office to explain. Her staff was again, kind but all I received from her was a folded blank piece of paper in the mail from Advanced Dentistry, with a check for $248. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE Dr. NGUYEN YOUR BUSINESS. Dr. Nguyen is the worst dentist I have ever seen in my life. She told me I had four cavities that needed drilling and that I also needed to either have four teeth pulled or have the gums around them lasered back. She wasn't able to show me any of the issues on the X-rays, she just told me they were there and got hostile and defensive when I tried to question further. My mom is a retired dentist so I was raised to have EXTREMELY good oral hygiene, and I know my mouth is in very good shape. So I asked around and found a different dentist with a reputation for honesty to get a second opinion. Zero cavities. No teeth need pulling. My gums are in great shape. I needed two sealants on my molars redone and one tooth had a slight weak spot we put a preventative sealant on, but other than that my mouth is in great condition. They showed me everything on the X-rays and told me to keep up the good work. Dr. Nguyen lied about everything wrong with my mouth and got angry when I tried to ask questions. read more

I went here for cleaning and one new crown (as a molar had broken off) and it had been about 9 months since my last dentist visit prior to seeing Dr. Nguyen. The first appointment where they look for periodontal disease in terms of pockets in your gums, cavities, Xrays, etc... was quite jarring. Dr. Nguyen said I needed a total of 4 new crowns and had 22 cavities that required filling. She went on to say my teeth are very small, and if I replaced all my teeth with crowns, she could make my bite wider to improve my smile/bite characteristics of my appearance. I have never had 22 cavities in my life, let alone all at once, so this came as a shock. When I said crowning all my teeth would be very expensive, she said yes it would. So besides the consultation and cleaning, I had one molar crown done and that was it. I went to another reputable dentist afterwards and they said I needed only 1 crown and only 1 cavity filled. I also told them my last dentist (Dr. Nguyen) suggested I had 22 cavities that needed fillings....to which my dentist laughed out loud. To top it all off, Dr. Nguyen's office refused to send my dental records to my new dentist even after several calls. My concern here is ethics....in my experience of Dr. Nguyen, it felt like she was concocting problems that didn't exist simply to get more money out of me. I relocated to Washington just over a year ago and was in search for a dentist. After researching, and reading the reviews, I decided to give Advanced Dentistry a try. Having skipped dental visits for 2-3 years due to the pandemic, I was facing dental issues that needed to be resolved. Dr. Nguyen was incredibly supportive throughout my journey to fixing all my dental problems. I had my cavities taken care of, my wisdom tooth removal in under 3 weeks, and initiated my Invisalign treatment. I come here for monthly visits for my Invaslign and every time I come, I feel welcomed and I get progress feedback on how my teeth is progressing. Very unprofessional and not very personable! I don't know what her issue was yesterday but she spoke to me as if I was beneath her. This has been the energy since I've been coming to this office. I dusted it off before but yesterday was the last straw. I asked a simple question about the local anesthetic because I am nursing my son. She nonchalantly told me if I'm concerned I can just put my son on formula, as if it's that simple. I'm opened to suggestions but the delivery and tone was offensiveI I called today to get my X-rays, she didn't verify any of my info, or let me know that she would give me a call back! I was in search for new dentist until I found Dr Nguyen at this clinic. I have reservations for a high-rated clinic on Yelp but I gave this clinic a shot. Gave them a call and told them my situation. I was in desperate search for new clinic because my previous dentist didn't seem to care about me. I had a root canal and overdue for a crown. My previous clinic didn't get back at me after telling me they had to confirm I am covered by my insurance. I waited and waited. Short story, they forgot about me and my temporary filling has worn out. Anyways, I have few more reasons why I am switching to a new dentist. So, I called Advanced Dentistry and spoke with a nice lady at the front desk. She was right on it and got me scheduled. In one appointment, Dr. Nguyen took care of me. She was really nice, gentle and taught me about the process of root canal. Although the procedure of getting a temporary filling to get a crown was painstakingly long, she and her assistant made sure I was comfortable and pain free. The clinic is clean and it has a calm ambience. Dr. Nguyen also did enamelplasty on my upper front teeth. This is another reason I am giving this clinic a 5 star rating. For years, I have been really self conscious about my smile because I have unflattering front teeth. She took care of it and in minutes. I needed emergency dental care for a loose crown/implant. Advanced Dentistry was able to fit me in the same day. My entire experience from start to finish was fantastic and I would not hesitate to use Dr. Nguyen and her staff again for my future dentistry needs. First, everyone was extremely competent. Doreen, the gal working the front desk knew to collect information about the implant size and manufacturer. Each brand uses their own set of tools which a dentist may or may not have. I didn't know this and was glad that they double-checked. They have also updated their procedures for Covid. Everyone is required to fill out a questionnaire regarding their exposure and have their temperature taken. I also appreciated how accessible hand sanitizer dispensers were. This gave me confidence that my risk of exposure to Covid was low. The dental assistant Ha was extremely friendly. She provided me mouthwash, got me seated, gathered some information, and took an x-ray for my implant. Dr. Nguyen then introduced herself and proceeded to take a look at my teeth I appreciated her attention to detail. Upon seeing that my lips were chapped, she immediately applied some lip balm without me asking. Dr. Nguyen is also an excellent communicator. She explained in depth everything she was doing and why. After the procedure, she gave me recommendations on how to better take care of my implant and improve bone ossification. She also spent time educating me about the latest in nightguard technology. My days of searching for the best dentistry team was over ever since I started going to Advanced Dentistry of Dr Rochelle. I went to many places in Bellevue, Kirkland and Seattle but this is the best so far in my opinion. I love how attentive, knowledgeable and friendly service of every single staff member, not just Dr Rochelle. One example is the recommendation to take care of my gum inflammation. All the previous dental offices recommended me to use mouthwash products to help with the situation but it only got my mouth drier and not really helpful. At Dr Rochelle, they recommended me to use warm water with a bit of salt in it to heal the gum and not dry up my mouth. It works like a champ. This was my Dentist from 2016-2018. After many years of not going, before this, I felt it was finally time to go. Well, no surprise, all was not perfect. There were some clear issues and some debatable not-so clear issues. That's where lies the problem. I actually had two cavities (one moderate size near an old mercury filling & a small one) and one chip from 2002. Then, there's the receding gum-lines & what was listed as several surface abrasive caused cavities, as in like 12 of them. She seemed to indicate that the receding gum-line areas all need to be infilled as if the gaps get bigger tooth loss will occur. I explained that the condition had been present for the last 20 years and that most of the damage was done before I found out about it and changed my brushing habits. I also wanted to get them whitened since I've given up coffee & tea. She said NO, you have to fix everything else first. Anyway, I had a few of "the worst" ones done. Then, at the last visit (about a year ago) I also had the two cavities & the chip done. I have a new Dentist and visited just days ago. Mainly because of concerns with the former and because I have new insurance coverage and wanted to stay in the network. Here's the thing. The larger of the two cavities is once again called out as a new cavity (the only cavity)! The chipped tooth filling is completely gone. And my new Dentist doesn't feel that the receding gum-line is really all that bad or needs any attention other than proper gentle brushing. He also pointed out that I may have a teeth grinding issue (probably at night). In other words, I pretty much got nothing done, what a waste of money! read more

Not only were they very clear about my insurance benefits and what would be paid out of pocket to the penny, but they are able to perform procedures that less than 5% of dentists are qualified to perform. I was able to have a ceramic tool designed and cut and implanted all in the same day, just before leaving the country on a trip! I had a horrible experience here, I am shocked they have so many 5 star reviews. I have never had a problem with dentists and have always understood that sometimes you needed to bear through some pain or discomfort, but my experience here was so traumatic that I teared up twice during my visit. During the initial X-Rays, I felt that the technician had no idea what she was doing. I had to bite down on a bit during the process, but she stuck it so far back in my throat that I was trying not to vomit. When I told her it was making me feel sick and that the bit was too big she laughed, saying I had a small mouth but there was nothing she could do. She kept resting the X-Ray machine on the bit which increased the pressure and pain in my mouth. She also could not position the X-Ray correctly, so multiple times I had to hold it in place for her while it was taking a photo. We also had to retake photos because she couldn't get the right angle the first time. During the cleaning, the technician put the instrument that sucks water of your mouth into the back of my throat. I was trying, again, not to gag or vomit, and at one point had to reflexively push her out of my mouth. She laughed and said to the dentist "oh, she has a bad gag reflex!", but the dentist had to correct where she was holding the instrument. This has NEVER been an issue anywhere else I have been, but here I wound up fighting back tears for the first time. During the exam itself I was in a lot of pain. When checking the depth of my gums and scraping my teeth, I was grimacing and trying to hold myself still through the pain. No other dentist I've been to has caused so much discomfort for a simple cleaning! While my teeth were being polished, they allowed my mouth to fill up with too much water. When I was told to close around the instrument that sucks the water out of your mouth, water spilled up over my mouth, running down my face and neck and into my hair. And of course, the technician laughed at me while I teared up for the second time. She then used the bib around my neck to try to blot my face off. When she realized how angry I was she began to apologize and ask if I was okay, but at that point all I could focus on was getting out of the chair and leaving. I have always had good experiences at other dentists, and I would have been more forgiving of the physical pain of this visit had I not been laughed at multiple times. I was hoping to find a more local dentist than the one I've been going to and I will not be back after the way I was treated. read more

Last year I was a freshmen at UW coming from out of state without a real dentist when I woke up one day with a major gum infection. I went through the UW health clinic and UW emergency room, but they could not tell what was wrong with my gums. No dental clinics I contacted were willing to have walk in appointments so I didn't know what to do until my friend gave me Dr. Nguyen's contact. After contacting Dr. Nguyen and telling her my symptoms over the phone, she opened a slot in her schedule the next afternoon right before closing for me to come and get my toothache checked out. I made it to her friendly and welcoming office before being sat down and examined. It turned out that I had an intense gum infection stemming from the trauma of two tooth nerves. Apparently I had made it to her just in time because if I had waited another week or so, I was at risk for tooth loss. Being concerned, Dr. Nguyen decided to perform a double root canal right there on the spot going about an hour past closing time. She filled my teeth up with a soft filling and scheduled a another appointment a month later to proceed with a hard filling because my gums were too infected to handle a permanent filling at the time. I was relieved to have my toothache fixed in time and the receptionist was very helpful in contacting my dental insurance to cover the expenses. Every step in the process was explained to me and I felt even more comfortable with Dr. Nguyen than I did with my regular dentist growing up back home. I honestly don't know what I would have done without her--I might not even have all my teeth right now if it wasn't for her expertise. I highly recommend her to all my friends at UW since she is also a part time professor at the UW School of Dentistry. She even goes above and beyond to call (not her receptionist), to check up on me after a procedure has been completed. She really cares and it shows in her quality of work. Dr. Nguyen has been my dentist since 2000--almost half my life! She's the best dentist and I recommend her to everyone. She really cares about her patients and she's very thorough. She'll ask you about what else is going on your life and health to determine if there's any connection with your dental health. She's the only dentist I know who checks your blood pressure too. There are some dentists who you feel like you're getting sold services. I have been with Dr. Nguyen in various financial stages of my life and health insurance coverage and she is very sympathetic to your financial situation. She also uses high-tech equipment too. Dr. Nguyen is the best ever! I've been a patient for about 20 years now and always leave with extremely clean teeth. She has all the latest technology and will explain your x-rays and everything you should do. The staff is friendly and helpful also, and booking appointments can be done from your phone. I've had great experiences here. Dr. Nguyen has tremendous experience and accreditation which is comforting. I've gone here for cleanings, cavities, and for my wisdom teeth (which she pointed me to an Oral Surgeon due to my specific circumstance). She advises on next steps and ensures I keep up with my dental health. Her team is great and I enjoy getting text messages/emails from the front office advising of my appts since I tend to forget.
