Not only did they recover the footage from my damaged video camera tape (from an old camera from the 90s, the film tape inside was damaged), but they did it pretty fast and were very communicative and affordable. Had a great experience with Advanced Media. I used them once before many years ago and came back recently for help digitizing VHS tapes for my husband's family. We needed a few of tapes digitized fast for a memorial service and the company was extremely understanding and helpful, even filling me in the process along the way. The cost was extremely fair too. These guys are the real deal. They do excellent work. My expectations were exceeded. I had a bunch of old Super 8mm movies from the 1970's and early 1980s that my dad took on his Bolex. I got them transferred to video in the 1990s and as you can imagine, the quality was awful. Over the years, I just assumed that the movies were low quality. My dad insisted that they looked great when projected. The films remained in cans and collected dust. I finally decided to get a real transfer done. Wow. I am glad I did. Let me tell you why I LOVE their service: I asked the Advanced Media team to convert my decades of home videos from VHS tapes, Hi-8 tapes and MiniDV tapes into files that could be readily playable on my iMac in high quality.  I had researched very carefully who could do this work well and to whom I could entrust these irreplaceable films.   My research led me to Advanced Media. Their work was EXCEPTIONAL in four ways: the product they delivered, the service level they applied, the clarity of their communication and their off the charts work ethic.   First, the product delivered was amazing.  The visual and audio of the videos that they converted for me was fantastic.  I asked for samples of both high definition and standard definition. Both were EXCELLENT, but the high definition quality (both the audio and visual) easily justified the added expense.    Beyond the EXTRAORDINARY final result, Advance Media's service level and worth ethic were AMAZING.  They let me know the status of my project throughout.  When they had a question or update, they emailed me promptly and often.   In fact, one night they stayed at his lab until 3:00 in the morning working on my project -- not because there was a problem or it was overwhelming or I needed it urgently--but simply because this was what they needed to do in order to meet the deadline he had set for himself.  I cannot recall anyone doing this for me ever. The clear, well-written emails that they sent to me describing the work, the results, the follow up and all aspects of my job were excellent.  Again, I cannot recall ever working with a service provider who writes as beautifully and communicates as clearly as they do.  They is remarkable not just for the product they deliver, and the level of service and work ethic they display, but for HOW they deliver all of that to their customers.   Finally, for all I have described, Advanced Media's  price was completely reasonable.  In fact, I would have happily paid a multiple of what they charged me. read more

I really wish that my experience with Advanced Media had been what others seem to have had, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Many years ago, as an amateur and not really understanding what I was doing, I personally transferred my old VHS family videos to DVD on my home computer as a gift for my mom. This ended up being such a blessing because not long after, I lost my house and everything in a wildfire, including the old VHS's. I've been needing to backup the only copies of these DVD's and digitalize them for a long time since but have obviously had some anxiety surrounding it. My main concern is that since I'm not really sure I transferred them the "normal" way, I just want to make sure they don't accidentally get deleted or damaged when backing them up. I just don't know how it all works. I finally called Advanced Media to get the process going but was not met with any compassion or reassurance at all. When I inquired about how the DVD's get transferred and asked about the safety of them during the transfer, I was told that I shouldn't go to them if I had any anxiety about the process. The man on the phone said there are many other businesses that perform this same exact function and I could go to them if I had anxiety about it. He also mentioned what a small job it is and that they are mostly doing studio transferring at this time, so really it's no problem if I went elsewhere. Thing is, based on past reviews, I think they are probably good at their job and I really would've liked to go there. But customer service is a big part of being a good business, especially one that deals with sensitive family videos on a regular basis. Honestly, I felt awful when I got off the phone with him. The making of a blu-ray remains just as complicated of process today as it was a few years ago. After calling around to multiple blu-ray authoring companies and a failed attempt at another service by a friend who had done them in the past, we came across Advanced Media. We had a test screening coming up this past weekend but the other places we contacted charged so much more for a simple insert & play screener. This went up to the ring of $500-$600 for a simple screener. Not only that, a couple of the people whom I talked to actually sounded like they started to perspire as they were explaining their own workflow. After our failed attempts also delayed getting our disc made early, we were now in emergency territory with a couple days left before the screening. Robert and Nimrod though, went the extra mile. They were flexible, understanding, patient and calm. They stayed a little after closing to let us drop off our movie file when we were coming in from out of town. And the next day Robert created the blu-ray flawlessly. I went home that night to test it out and the audio lagging issue that came up with our friend's disc was gone. It was perfect!
