Scam billing and ignorant of work needed. Water VISIBLY leaking from water heater discharge pipe BELOW the drywall in an open air carport. All the situation needed was fixing the water heater but instead, they cut out about 12 feet of floor to ceiling drywall (which wasn't even wet - 8 feet of it was not even near the water heater) but if it had been, would have dried quickly in the open air environment). They charged $1450 for their work. All they did was cut out the drywall and dispose of it but Invoice stated "emergency mitigation services including water extraction; manipulation of contents; set-up and break-down of containment; removal of affected materials; clean and sanitize affected areas; monitor structure and building materials until dry." What a joke. Water extraction? From what? The water continued to stream out of the discharge pipes onto the concrete carport floor for weeks after they left, there were no contents in the carport to manipulate, "clean and sanitize affected areas"? What does that mean? Did they spray the dry carport studs? . "Monitor structure and building materials until dry". Since they carted the drywall away, what was there to monitor? The whole bill was bogus. But they were sent and paid by American Management Services, our HOA managers (that are themselves extremely incompetent) with no questions asked so perhaps they have a cozy relationship. I had a good experience with Advanced in one of my HOA condo buildings. There was a leak from an upstairs window that happened during the winter. By the time the HOA agreed to have a company do the dry-out, mold was discovered. We were pressed for time since the unit was being prepared for sale but Advanced did a great job on finishing quickly. The cost was in line with other vendors and for my clients it was important to make sure the mold was cleared completely. They did not want to cut corners. Our upstairs toilet overflowed causing damage to the bathroom, laundry room, hallway, bedroom and leaked through the ceiling, causing damage to the kitchen as well. Called our insurance company who were ready to dispatch their water damage vendor-of-choice Advanced Restoration. We were exhausted from cleaning up what water we could and opted that they come first thing the next morning (but Advanced Restoration would have come that night at 930p if we wanted). These people are pros. They immediate identified the boundaries of the water damage on both floors (using moisture meters and infrared cameras), and began the process of drying, containing and demo. PROS: - start-to-finish, all of the different crews and their home office were pleasant, polite and helpful - work was super thorough - made sure they didn't miss a single drop of water that could cause future problems - protected our floors and carpets from minute one - protected our kitchen and the rest of the house well during demo, reconstruction, painting, etc. - covered every last detail to make sure the affected areas looked as closely as possible to original - worked with us on making sure paint was a match and tiles were a close match; very cooperative - they didn't "coast" when the majority of the work was done; even the last piece - cleaning the massive carpet stain - they did an amazing job! CONS I only had two issues worth bringing up: - communication was a bit lacking. They have a project manager for both the drying/demo phase and the reconstruction phase. Yet, they didn't really communicate what was happening & when. They were very forthcoming with this information if you asked, but I had to be proactive and ask "what was happening today?" "what time will you be back tomorrow AM?" etc. Just FYI. - We lost a LOT of time between the time the drying/demo part was finished and the reconstruction actually started, leaving us with a house under construction and divided with plastic, zippered containment zones. I had to chase and chase the guy who was working on our estimate for days and days to get it done so the insurance company could approve and re-construction could start. You really have to stay on top of this portion of the process, FYI. Also worth noting, each day seemed to be a different set of people working, which is maybe par-for-the course, but just FYI. Please note this was happening during the COVID pandemic and all of their office-based, coordination employees were working remotely, so I cut them a bit of slack, but they all took it in stride. Overall, if I ever had an issue where I needed a service like this, I would use them in a second. read more

Once the contract was signed, Evelyn was very helpful on coordinating the work schedules. The demo team (Alfredo and Eva) arrived as scheduled. They worked diligently and kept us informed on the progress. When an unexpected challenge presented during the removal of the carpet, their supervisor, Jose, sent in two more workers (Felix and Edinsson) right away to help completing the job on schedule. Both showed great diligence and consideration for our small apartment when moving our entire laundry unit out of the laundry room and into the living room. Dear Owner, 7/28/2021 What I could not understand is that AR insisted on removing the living room floor that had no water damage but left the wet kitchen floor and wall alone. Event summary: 1. While AR crews were removing the living room bamboo floor, exposed the subfloor, that was dry. I called AR supervisor asking why worked on living rm, the leak came from the kitchen. 2. AR Supervisor refused to discuss the detail work and hung up on me. We as consumers who pay the bills has the right to know what the scopes of the works are. Is it too much to ask? especially the crews were not working on the wet floor. 3. Your communication to HOA Mgr who described the living room floor "mold and warped" was not true (I was on the job site neither HOA mgr or AR supervisor) 4. Recently parts of my kitchen were damaged by water leaking into my apartment from my neighbor's refrigerator. Advanced Restoration was selected by our building management to perform mitigation, which included removing appliances, a small cabinet (with countertop) and parts of my wall (in order to find the leak); installing industrial dryers for several days and checking on them; and putting the kitchen back together. By the time Advanced Restoration had completed the job, I would have had no idea my kitchen had suffered water damage. I was super impressed by the professionalism of every single person on the crew--each performed extremely careful and thorough work, were polite at all times throughout, and best of all, were responsive and helpful. Even after the kitchen had been put back together, visiting my apartment to doublecheck my refrigerator. Though I hope never to have to go through future water mitigation, I certainly would want Advanced Restoration for any future work. They made the experience easy to get through. Hired to fix flooding in a condo July 15th. Took the dryers out July17th, tore out carpeting flooring and one bathroom. Broke a water pipe and caused more flooding... Finally someone came and replaced the sheet rock on Aug. 29th, actually well done. Still waiting on flooring replacement, 8 weeks and counting... as long as you have someplace else to live for a month or two while your home is torn to pieces, then hire them... read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! We had water damage in our condo unit which leaked into the unit below. The HOA prop mgmt company recommended Advanced Restoration as on of their "approved vendors" when damage occurs in common areas between units. As 25-year owners of our own General Construction business, my husband met with their Foreman, Tim Corr, who gave my husband a verbal estimate to dry out the ceiling and replace the 4'x4' patch of drywall in the bathroom ceiling of the unit below. Although the estimate seemed slightly high by industry standards, since they were on the HOA's approved list, we moved forward. Weeks later, when the company finally completed the repairs and they billed the HOA who then billed us, the invoice was for OVER DOUBLE the original estimate. We fought the fraudulent charges for nearly 18 months. The HOA Mgmt Company and the HOA Board of Directors claim to have reviewed the charges with Advanced Restoration, but did not want us to contact the company ourselves. After over a year of no resolution, we attempted to contact them ourselves. The Foreman, Tim Corr never responded to our numerous voice mail messages and emails, nor did the owner, Richard. The owner pushed our inquiries off to his assistant, Kelly, who claims she looked into the charges and they were valid. AGAIN, with over 25 years in the industry, WE KNOW WHAT THE COST OF THESE REPAIRS WOULD HAVE BEEN! One member of the HOA Board stated, "just bill your homeowner's insurance". This leads us to believe that this company knows they can over charge because homeowners with this type of damage will most likely submit to their insurance, THIS IS FRAUD!!!!! So bad.... So So So bad. AWFUL!!! If AAA tells you to use them, find SOMEONE ELSE! These people don't talk to each other, don't talk to your insurance, and CERTAINLY don't talk to their customers. They take the most stressful thing happening in your home and make it 10x more stressful. They have a really rude attitude and they have no respect for your home. They don't do the restoration in a way that it can be easily repaired, they take for granted that your insurance is just going to cover everything. They cause damage to things that weren't damaged to start. They don't listen to homeowner requests, try to squeeze insurance companies, don't care that you have young kids or pets or anything. We had them come out for water damage, and even when I was crying about the loss, they were dismissive and rude, they didn't care that we were under stress or confused and scared, they just made it so much worse. If assigned this company by Triple A or any other insurance company GET YOUR OWN. I have a small bathroom that had a slow leak over a year. It caused mold that needed to be remediated. Very small amount. This company came out quickly & sent someone named Jeff who inspected and was professional and made lots of assurances. Until I complained after OVER SIX MONTHS of my bathroom being torn out, I never heard from him again. and to this day, I never saw him again. This company never knew what was going on. People did not communicate with each other and people would show up thinking they were doing one thing, when the day before I had discussed with someone else at the company doing another. I felt like I became the project manager. and unless I was a total B, they were completely unresponsive. The work was finally completed last week and while the quality of the work was good - I don't believe they deserve any of the credit. They outsourced all of the work to another company - which will receive my business again. The only thing they did was put the sink and toilet back in place. Moving forward, I will vet the people that do work in my home and then seek reimbursement from the insurance company. This has been an incredible learning experience - on that has left a horrible taste in my mouth for the quality of customer service that is offered by this company. read more

Anyone in the real estate game knows how difficult it can be to find great companies with integrity, follow through, and reasonable pricing. I thought Advanced Restoration was all those things after meeting with Jeff. After a brief consultation I had told Jeff I was ready to start work ASAP. He gave a rough date after I asked for a date set in stone. I finally was able to schedule a date. I followed up prior to the date rather than him. The day the work was supposed to begin, no one showed. The company did not have the date in their calendar even. Jeff was hard to get a hold of. He apologized days later and stated the the sub-contractors he hired for the job canceled. Why didn't he communicate this, and also why wouldn't Advanced Restoration have the job in their calendar? He promised to send over a contract two to three times after that and did not. He seemed like a nice enough guy but in the end he was either negligent, incompetent, or a combination of both. My hand was forced and I had to go with someone else after being extremely patient and understanding and giving them all the chances that most customers would not have stood for. If you are a busy adult like myself, wasting as much time as I did on something so major was a huge setback and very frustrating despite my yogic ways. read more

Here is a list of the things I experienced: Didn't show up the first day without calling, Worked very short days, couldn't answer basic questions about their work, provided incorrect information about the type of carpet cleaner they would be using, didn't complete work they said they completed and were paid for, left equipment (multiple large fans) running at my house after they were "finished", left equipment piled in my bathroom over the Thanksgiving weekend without a mention of it and no way to reach them. Their crews were not well supervised and their was no quality control over their work. I am missing a few items that I suspect their workers may have taken. If I could give them zero stars I would! I concur with all the other reviews about their lack of communication and professional courtesy. They came in to do water mitigation on my floors and they damaged my hardwood floors (left big stains that are not coming out) and it's been three months and I can't even count how many calls and emails and they still haven't fixed it or given any indication of when they will. Unfortunately for me, I have to do through them bc they caused the damage in the first place but if you have any way to avoid them, do it bc otherwise you'll find yourself dealing with the headache and hassle of getting them to respond for months! read more

If your insurance company gives you any choices for companies to handle your restoration after damage to your home, I recommend not using Advanced Restoration. The hardwood floors in our home were ruined by a plumbing malfunction, and we were assigned to work with AR by the insurance company. AR arranged the work of three different teams of people (mold remediation, sub-contractor for flooring, people who put the kitchen back together after the flooring), and these teams' work was not well coordinated. After the flooring was done, we waited a week and half for them to complete the job by reinstalling the cabinets. We were very pleased with the flooring sub-contractor's work, and with the mold work. But the people involved in the final phase were not easy to work with and we were not very pleased with the work they did. Overall, we were never sure who was in charge of the overall project and had to make a lot of phone calls to remind people there about status and make sure they were communicating amongst themselves and moving the project forward. read more

I would have given more stars for Mark because he's been great and genuinely concerned of the needs of my parents' business that suffered an incident late at night. He took care of the emergency board up situation and eased my parents' concerns of what the next steps are to let our insurance know what happened. While they were quick about cleaning up all the debris, they were willing to create an estimate for the the build and they even met with our local adjuster. The project manager let us know we would get an estimate soon. After several days, I did not hear from them at all. I called and left message but received no return call. After a week, I called the office because no one returned my call from their cell phones and requested to speak with someone regarding my estimate. They told me that they weren't going to take the job and were never planning to put in an estimate, but never informed me of their decision. I was thoroughly disappointed since I was happy with their emergency clean up work, but they unilaterally decided not to continue, and never discussed it with me. While I understand the reason why they did not want to take the job, the courteous thing to do is the let the client know! Lastly, as part of the emergency clean up portion of work, they had created an itemized list of all damaged personal property. This was taken care of the day after the incident, but I still have not seen this list 3 weeks later. I have requested it on 3 separate occasions with no luck. Finding water on the kitchen floor is not a pleasant experierence. I called the insurance company and they sent two men from Advance Restoration. Marco found the source of the leak, (plastic hose to the referigerator), then he and his partner got to work. They were very thorough and when they were finished for the day, the fans were running, the floor was as clean as it could be and I was very happy. They did a much better job than the company that did the same kind of work 14 years ago. We had a main line sewer backup and the plumbers opened the clean out located in our basement and flooded the area with sewage. This was the lowest point in the house so everything in the pipes came into the basement. The plumbers removed the water, but the area needed to be disinfected. I called 3 companies for estimates the next day and decided on Advanced Restoration for the following reasons: - Kelly was responsive and professional during original call - Kevin provided a reasonable quote and was willing to work with us since this was out of pocket - everyone I spoke to was knowledgeable about the products they use and their process - Jose the tech was professional when he came out to take pictures for the estimate - they were able to start the next day - accept credit cards and said I will be invoiced - seem to be a professional company with ethics The job has just been completed and I can't be anymore happy with Jose and the other tech. The team was: - professional - thorough - I requested for an inventory list of items thrown and they didn't have any issues, I should be getting this via email - after the walk through, I requested for some more clean up and they did it. Our condo was flooded due to a backlog in the main sewer line. There was extensive damage to the walls and floors. Advanced Restoration was employed by the HOA to perform the remediation and restoration work. We were lucky to that we had Rich Torres be our project manager. He was always accessible and responsive. His tram also does great work. They were professional, knew what to do, and their work was very clean. In this situation where the HOA property manager was non-responsive, Rich became my point of contact even though it wasn't necessary his job. This company was hired by American Management Services to repair the water damage to the condo unit below ours in Capitola. While I cannot speak to the quality of the work they did to remediate mildew and repair the ceiling of an exceedingly small bathroom, I can tell you that their fees are exorbitant. They doubled (at least) the cost of materials and then added a surcharge onto those prices. Their labor charges exceeded $100 a hour for repairing sheetrock. Their invoice was confusing and lacked detail. When I tried to contact them, they did not return my calls. They are clearly used to dealing with insurance companies who will not challenge their rates. So, unless you have deep pockets avoid dealing with them. read more

I have some serious health issues that limit my mobility and make projects difficult for me. I have actually had two issues in my condo that have been repaired by Advanced Restoration. The first was a major flood caused by line failure in an unoccupied unit and massive flooding occurred in most ground floor units as a result. Advanced Restoration came immediately, they had all the equipment they needed, and they explained why they drilled the holes and detached the carpet, etc. Yes they left blowers and dehydrators for several days but everything got dry and NO MOLD grew! Every person who came to do work was neat and orderly, came when expected and did good quality work. When the upstairs unit recently had a couple of leaks they came immediately, sent a very nice and competent craftsman, Because a toilet leaked every scrap was removed in a safe and secure way. I was given clear instructions how to prevent problems and what the next step was after drying. Care and concern was given to making sure I could get around safely. I was in constant communication with the project manager and was offered starting times and days that were coordinated with my dialysis requirements. All the workers were pleasant, knowledgeable, clean in their work and produced good quality results. Found this team good to work with and although I would not like more incidents any time soon, if they occur Advanced Restoration would be my contractor of choice.
