I have to add one star I guess. I had a free consult with a ton of visible mold. Dude waved his water detection device around a bit and said it was dry and to use Clorox wipes. I tried to tell him that nothing has worked for me. But he talked over me with his expert Clorox wipe solution and left after less than 5 mins like he was in a hurry. Our parents basement got flooded and went undetected for a couple of months. The water came from a broken water pipe and filled the bottom of the basement to two feet deep. It was a mess. They "mucked" it out and threw away everything from the basement, even things that were not under water. One missed appointment in which they claimed I had the wrong day (I did not). A second in which they called and said they couldn't make it at the scheduled time (harkening back to the Seinfeld episode of a Car "Reservation") and when I called and said I would look elsewhere, they could not have cared less. My aunts place got flooded so this guys got called they ended up taking everything from packing everything and they getting everything into a storage. While they dry the house. So when the House was restored back to normal we went in ourselves took all the stuff back to the house from the storage my aunt realized there was a lot of stuff missing just very disappointed I had called them personally they just keep transferring my calls to someone else and that they will call me back but they never did. Who knew a $3 plastic part on a pipe could just break and create a flood of biblical proportions, soaking an entire apartment? I'm here to tell you, Erez and his crew were amazing - I called some other places, who said things like "I can't give you a ballpark estimate on the phone, someone will call you in a few hours", etc. 911 Restoration promised to send someone to estimate the flood remediation work immediately, and not only did he show up when promised, he brought a crew & equipment and we were able to agree on price right then and there...they had the worst of the water & soggy carpet pads removed within a couple of hours! 3 days later, the entire carpeted apartment is dry, the pieces of baseboard that could be salvaged are neatly stacked...they even pulled out the stove, which wasn't affected, revealing a horrific mess from previous years of crackhead tenants and rather than just pushing it back, they completely cleaned up the mess! I have never had a construction crew leave an area so clean at the end of each day... My insurance adjuster even sang their praises for using something called "Exactimate" - software that very specifically itemizes all the damage, materials & equipment required for repairs, etc. Erez had already prepared an itemized report, which cut the adjuster's work down by at least an hour and he was a happy man... Their prices were EXCELLENT, and their customer service was some of the best I've ever experienced...if you've got water damage, these are the folks to call! read more

I'm guessing some are wondering why the jump from 1 to 4 stars? Here's why: After my initial review, a representative from the company contacted me almost immediately. She inquired as to why I gave the review, listened to me and arranged to do the $250 air quality test for free because of my previous experience/mishap with the company. At the scheduled date, the field manager arrived at my home to do the test. He apologized for my previous experience and an air-quality test was done. The report was sent to me via email in three days. Although I did not have mold spores present, a detailed report as to how I could reduce some of the debris present was sent to me. I took some of the recommendations and I'm happy to say my cough and the air quality in my room is markedly better. I also asked several follow up questions via email and was met with a prompt and accurate response. read more

We recently purchased a foreclosed home infested with mold in the kitchen area and crawl space. The inspection report quoted remediation for $12k, so imagine our surprise when 911 Restoration came out with a quote of around $4k! We ended up having to spend closer to $6k to treat the entire crawl space, but it was worth it to solve the problem. We were very pleased with the work completed. Needed our home heating ducts cleaned quickly. Called a bunch of companies and these were the only ones I could get same-day service from. They were a bit expensive: about $600 for 20 ducts, 3 returns and a full service cleaning for 2 furnaces. The job took about 5 hours. They were on-time, clean and very polite. We had a major leak in our kitchen coming form behind the fridge that had gone undetected until I noticed a bubble in the linoleum. I pulled the fridge out and was horrified by the mold and water damage I discovered! I peeled back some of the linoleum and the stench of mold was immediate. I realized I had a major situation on my hands extending through perhaps as much as half my kitchen. This was late on a Friday afternoon and I frantically began searching for someone who could take care of this disaster. I called a few places and they weren't going to be able to come until Monday. Thankfully one of them recommended I call 911 Restoration. They were incredibly helpful and sent Aurelio out that evening. I had my wife and kids go stay at grandma's house while he came in and sealed off the kitchen and began preparing the area for decontamination. Over the next several days Elad and Aurelio did an outstanding job of discovering the full extent of the damage and remediating all of it. My insurance company (Allstate) was utterly useless in helping with this type of damage, so I was worried about the cost. When you are in the midst of a disaster any company you contract to help you out kind of has you over a barrel. These guys didn't take advantage of our dire situation. By the time they were scheduled to come, I have already had several companies' quotes and I have also learned that incredulously, some companies required a fee just for an estimate. Other companies did not, and 911 Restoration was one of them. Elad provided me with an estimate, which they honored. He instructed me on every step of their work. They were able to start quickly. When Ricardo and his crew arrived, as scheduled-, Elad was there to introduce the team to me. Then, Ricardo instructed me what they would be doing each day. His crew was kind, respectful and they seemed diligent in their work. They even informed me when they were going on a break and overall seemed accountable for each step of their work. When a small mishap happened (I was not informed that they changed the day when they will come to pick up their machines), they apologized and took responsibility for it. I'm so upset and worried because of this company. I really needed a mold specialist to come out to the property we were trying to close on a short notice and this was the only company that I called on a Sat that was able to fit us in on Monday at noon. I should have went with my gut feeling because when I called, a guy with absolutely no customer service picked up and said another person will call me back with prices and time availability. A woman called me back an hour after asking if I had texted about rates. None of the results questions I had was answered correctly. Good news is that the results wasn't too bad as we had planned out and showed proof of plans on the renovations we were planning on the room that was supposedly had mold. read more

Nothing is more frustrating than moving into our new home and found there was water damage that caused mold growing from previous owners! But yay to Terry and his team! Just hired them to do the mold removal for us. They passed clearance test too! Their guarantee is they don't collect the rest 50% balance until they pass the test and we're 100% happy, which is also why I chose them to do the job. Terry showed up on time for our appointment for an estimate. During his visit, he examined the affected area and provided a very reasonable quote. He's also very knowledgable and very familiar with the air quality test report. He also explained to me what each item means on the report and told me that my situation is actually not that bad. They do repair job too but he mentioned my case is really small and not worth hiring them to do the job because of minimum charge for a repair job. Appreciate the honesty here! It took 2 technicians Jacky and another gentleman a full day to the job. They put plastic to protect the floor and they were very courteous too. I was paranoid about turning on my tiny dehumidifier in the contaminated room and they were so patient to help me clean the filter of my dehumidifier too, which they didn't have to. They put plastic back on after removing the dry wall to seal the area. (That plastic thing was hard to put back on as it took me about 2 hours or so to put it back on when it was accidentally removed after the project was finished! And I did a terrible job!) Throughout the whole project Terry was very good about keeping me updated on everything, which is very important! He was very punctual too. Actually the whole team at 911 is great! There is another bad review of this place for mold removal, but my experience with this place was totally positive. I used this place to clean our vents. They offer a flat rate of $169 to clean out up to 10 vents, which is a cheap price. They also clean out your central furnace/ac unit for a flat rate of $130, including the coils and filter. They also can professionaly clean out any other vents in your house, such as your dryer vent, or bathroom celing fan vents. ( I recommend that you get BOTH your central unit and ducts done at the same time, because if you only do one then dust will be reintroduced into your system.) The two guys that showed up were very quick, and thorough. The technician "omar" was a happy and educated guy who explained the entire process to me before they started, and stated the final price before any thing was started. They attach a huge vaccum on one of the vent to pull out the dust backwards, and then they go around and use a special mechanical rotary brush to scrape off all of the dust from the inside of each duct. The brush is specially designed not to puncture your vent hose, if it is the plastic type, as some of my vents are. They also vaccum and clean out each grill of any huge hairballs or what not and the guy even took a brush and scraped/vaccumed each piece of dust from inbetween the grates and worked very quickly and confidently. after that they use a special "green" envoirnmentally safe chemical which coats the inside of your ducts and prevents mold or bacterial growth. You may chose to not have this done, I chose to have it done, since we have terrible mold/spore problems from the previous owners not having it cleaned for 5 years, and they ran it without a filter. My vents are very high on the celing, I live in a loft and we have three floors with 7 vents. The cleaned each one no problem, including my furnace, and my dryer vent, PLUS my bathroom celing fans and the whole job took about an hour and a half. It is now 2008 and the vents/ducts had not been cleaned for 5 years since 2003. The two technicians were really nice to my two cats (I worry about workers being mean to cats) and they were happy and smiled and told jokes the whole time. They also worked together diligently, and as a team; they did not argue or fuss at all. They did a great job and my house is smelling much fresher and cleaner, and my wife's asthma has gotten a lot better. As far as vent/duct cleaning these guys do a great job. Based on the other reviews, I should not give 5 stars to them, but they deserve all of them based on their job in our place. In short, they were on-time, communicated well and did the restoration perfectly. 1) Timing: They were on-time, really on-time. He showed out 10 minutes late at the first day, but he made call earlier that he would be late 2) communications: The handyman , Ohad (if I spelled his name correctly), was answering all of our questions and he was sincere to teach us about what he is doing and why he is doing 3) Quality of repair: I checked myself, the walls and carpet, they were dry, and they did an excellent job to restore our place to the original format. I did not expect that level of restoration. We had soaked carpet and walls with water after an unfortunate event. We discovered mold in the space between a lower level closet and the crawl space where the furnace is located, due to a leak in the condensation pump. We called 911 Remediation and they came and diagnosed the problem. Once we had the furnace pump fixed, 911 returned promptly, removed all the rotted and molded wood, sheetrock and insulation, and set up drying pumps. They sealed off the area, so none of the demo affected the adjoining rooms. After a long weekend they returned, removed all the equipment, and left the site clean and ready for a carpenter to restore the area. All was good. I cannot say enough positive. They communicated clearly and promptly about every step of the process. The crew (under supervisor John) was courteous, tidy, friendly and unobtrusive. They told us what to expect, and delivered accordingly. And, while our major concern was getting the job done properly, and in a timely way, they were also (I think) quite reasonably priced. This company was amazing in all ways! Our washing machine leaked into our downstairs neighbor's unit. They remediated both of our units, worked with both of our insurances, and did a fantastic job all around. This company is absolutely unethical. After I moved back into my condo, post-remodel, I noticed large streaks of black mold on two of my upright timber beams. Naturally I panicked: I've heard about how difficult it is to get rid of a mold infestation, and it can tank your property value and even ruin your house. I'm also severely allergic to [certain types of] mold, and I certainly didn't want to have to move out of my house for health reasons. I called 911 restoration and someone came out right away. The representative took a look at my beams. The short story is that without taking samples, without determining what TYPE of mold it was, she scared me into thinking that armageddon was nigh if I didn't immediately have them treat the mold. She told me how difficult it is to get rid of. I'd have to throw out as much soft / upholstered stuff as possible -- clothes, linens, etc. All my furniture was practically brand new, and the thought of having to throw it away made me want to cry. As part of their process, she explained that they would paint over my brick wall to guarantee that the mold wouldn't come back. This also made me almost cry because that brick is one of the reasons I love the place and it's a big part of the value of the condo. They'd have to rip up at least some of the floor and possibly get behind the walls. I told her that I had literally JUST put all the walls back on after the long remodeling project and that everything behind the walls was totally fine. She went on to explain getting insurance companies involved, talking to my HOA because the beams are part of the building's structure, etc. etc. She quoted me $4,300: seal off everything, scrub, bleach, blah blah blah; remove all my furniture, fumigate it, dryclean it, etc etc; I was going to have to find a place to store all my furniture during the week that this took, etc. Well, I was in hysterics. Fortunately my mother reminded me to get a second opinion. I read more about mold infestations and one thing stuck out: never get the analysis done by the company that will be doing the cleaning. So I called Dominion Environmental and they sent someone out the next Monday or Tuesday. The Dominion person was everything the 911 person was not: He was calm and pleasant. He walked in and said "well, I'd obviously have to wait for the lab results to be sure, but I would almost guarantee that you just have lumbar yard mold," which is not toxic, doesn't really spread, and is pretty much unavoidable for new-ish lumber as it dries out over time. Dominion took spore counts, sampled the mold on the beams, and got the results back to me in a timely manner. As it turned out, I could have removed the mold myself with a simple hand sander; a professional mold abatement company quoted me $1,000 to remove the mold. Ultimately, 911 Restoration behaved in a panic-inducing and shady way. When the woman called back the next week, I gave her a piece of my mind: She sowed fear, tried to capitalize on my worry, didn't do any sort of actual testing, and recommended a course of action utterly inappropriate to my situation. read more

My Berkeley apartment was infested with mold, and my kids and I became ill. www.911restoration.com did a phenomenal job of testing, explaining their results and helping me figure out what to do. One of those options was a very reasonable estimate for their services to safely remove the moldy parts of the apartment (like window frames) without filling the air with toxic mold particulants and spreading the toxic mold further. When my landlord said he wanted to use an unsafe alternative, instead, we moved out. We'd already been messed up WAY more than enough. 911's test results then helped us get compensation from the Berkeley Rent Board for the expense of moving, and for some of our possessions which had been destroyed by the mold. (A lot more was ruined -- COVERED with mold -- than was compensated, but getting something was better than getting nothing. P.S. Note to landlords: it would have been MUCH cheaper for our landlord to have just done the right thing, and removed the proven-dangerous mold safely through 911 or another company trained and certified in safe toxin removal. If he had hired 911 to do the job he would have been doing the moral thing, we would never have moved, and he would have saved a ton of money overall. read more
