United HVAC came out, did the testing, and concluded that all he needed was a good system clean and service. I initially had United HVAC out to look at one of my air conditioners that wasn't working. Cody was on time courteous and diagnosed and fixed the problem quickly. I then talked to him about the possibility of replacing both of my furnaces and air conditioners that were 30 years old and starting to have issues. Previously I had other HVAC companies look at them and all they did was start to give me a "hard sell" why I should replace them immediately (at great expense). Cody, on the other hand, talked me through the possible issues going forward if I kept the present units and gave me some various options including a phased replacement if I decided to replace them to avoid a large up-front cost all at once. Over the next 2 weeks I spent considerable time on the phone talking to the owner of the company, Greg, exploring all my options. He was extremely helpful in knowing the quality vs cost of units and researched and gave me several options. With no hard sell pressure! I ended up replacing my units because the cost compared to other companies was too good to pass up. When they replaced the units they encountered numerous unforeseen issues that they had to overcome. They never complained... they just came up with solutions. The installation was a thing of beauty and when they left, they left the work area cleaner than when they started. After the fourth visit and two failed inspections, I asked to speak with the owner. He said he'd show up on the final day and didn't. Not showing up after committing to do so speaks volumes. On multiple occasions, employees attempted to -- or did -- walk through my home beyond where work was being completed with their shoes on. This is a basic courtesy that should not have needed to be addressed. On the final day, an employee complained about the time spent waiting for the inspector to arrive. After five+ weeks of doing exactly that myself, I couldn't help but laugh internally. Most importantly, Summit advertises a "100% Right or 100% Free" guarantee on their website. These are not complicated words -- 100% means 100%, and free means free. There is no secondary meaning to either. When I raised this, I was told it essentially means they will keep trying until the job is done correctly -- which is admirable in theory, but falls well short of what "100% Free" implies when a customer has invested THOUSANDS of dollars. After reading the other reviews, I'm hoping the problem with my AC wasn't just a leak somewhere that could have been fixed for much less. I would strongly encourage potential customers to clarify what that guarantee truly means before signing a contract, and to get everything in writing.
