If you're local (or willing to travel) for the best microblading and powder brow services in the DMV, look no farther than Amie Pan, Master Esthetician at Aesthetics Health in Mclean, Virginia. The first time I had my eyebrows microbladed was at this sketchy nail salon in a strip mall (you get what you pay for), but refused to go back again after they started turning grey and red. Instead I discovered Amie via Google and did my research. Since COVID was suddenly a serious health concern, I wanted cleanliness, precision and consistency, and I was willing to pay top dollar to have perfect brows--after all they're on your face. The space is beautiful and once you enter through the front doors, you almost feel like you're visiting the personal spa of some rich friend who lives in a castle. Everything was spotless, white marble and gold-tone metal, and pristine. Amie spent at least 20 minutes measuring and marking off lines on my face to ensure precision, and create a look that was perfect for my face shape and bone structure. The previous place didn't do that at all which is why mine were lopsided and had to be fixed by Amie! The entire process took about 2.5-3 hours due to the fact that she had to fix all the mistakes made by the strip mall spot (I know...I made a huge mistake back then) and when I looked in the mirror after the procedure was over, I swear I thought I was looking at an Instagram filter on my face...not only did I look like a new person, but I was amazed at how important it is to have the perfect eyebrow shape to frame your face and accentuate your features! I went back two more times (once for the touchup and the second time I lost a chunk of the scab and thought it caused a bald patch) and I was always treated like royalty. So, you might be wondering...should I get microblading, powder brows or Ombré? And the answer is YES, but only if you start with the best and stick with them too. These are things I wish I would have known before deciding on Aesthetic Health, in order of importance. 1. The website has the lip blush at $899 (Per visit/session.) When I made the appointment I assumed I would only need one session. I have had cosmetic tattooing in the past and any touch up appointments were either free or a ~$100 charge. Wrong. They missed a whole section of my lips, making them look smaller (see pics). The color isn't even and it looks like I have lipstick on that has faded in the middle. 2. I just assumed that I could come back in and pay maybe $150 for them to fill in missed spots. I was told it would be an additional $650 for them to correct their mistake. I sent pictures and there was no acknowledgment of the shoddy work other than to send me pictures of their price list. This price list, however, is not the same as the one you see on the internet. This printed price list says "You may need more than one visit to achieve the color that you want." I didn't want a different color, I wanted my entire lip to be filled in and for them to not appear smaller than they are naturally. See pics. 3. I followed Amie's Instagram page for well over a year before I decided to trust her with my face. I made an appt to get feather brows and that went pretty well so I decided to make an appointment for lip blushing with her. I just assumed it was going to be with her, after all, her IG page makes little to no mention of other tattooers. In fact, Amy's face is embossed on the lip blushing pics that are posted on IG making it appear as if it's her work. See the screenshot where the caption says "Choose Amie Pan, the master PMU state board instructor, for all your lip blushing training needs and services." Much to my surprise I show up and am assigned to a lady named Nikkie. I was uncomfortable about this as I had never seen Nikkie's work on IG. It was explained to me that Amie does not promote other artists because she does not want to train them and have them leave. So she posts all work as if it's her own. They also said Amie doesn't do much lip blushing these days and I'd rather go with Nikkie who does this service all day. I was very uneasy about this and was contemplating leaving. There was another lady there getting a brow touch up. Nikkie had done her lips and they looked good so I felt comfortable proceeding with the appointment. 4. There was very little discussion around the color of my lips. In hindsight I wish I would have pushed this topic more and make sure I understood exactly what I was getting. Nikkie asked me, "Do you want red or orange." Uhhh... neither. I wanted my lips to look very natural. I didn't want the look of lipstick. I just wanted them to look more youthful. Exactly how the lady's lips looked they showed me in the office. She then showed me 4 bottles of ink and I picked the lightest color trusting that she understood the look I was going for - a look in many of their IG pics. Why did I not press more? At this point I had probably been there an hour and was ready to get on with it. 5. They nickel and dime you. My first charge was $1050 and they charged me a credit card fee of an additional $40. At this price point the credit card fee should be included. 6. I specifically went to Amie because I liked her hair stroke technique for brows. I have a wonderful permanent makeup artist who is so passionate and thorough but she only did powder brows and I wanted hair strokes. Amie is more expensive but I assumed I was paying for top quality. I've had my brows done by Amie twice (1st appt and touch up) and what I've learned is the hair like stroke you see on IG what they look like immediately after the appointment. As they heal the color bleeds and fades and the hair strokes blend away. The picture of me that they posted on IG was immediately after the appointment and looks great but is not representative of the final work. Pics included of both. 7. Be aware that the pics on their IG are heavily edited. This isn't a crime but it does give that illusion of perfection that tricks you mind into thinking things are more beautiful than they really are. It's a very editorialized aesthetic. 8. The guy that does all of the text coordinating is not pleasant to work with. His texts were curt. He was not at all responsive to my concerns that they missed my cupids bow. I finally DM's pics directly to Amie on IG and she had me come in and they filled in the cupids bow. Nikkie made it very clear she was not filling in any other part of my lip other than the cupid bow. Thanks, I didn't ask. 9. When Amie did my brows I was numbed and it was very comfortable. The lips were a different story. It HURT... a lot. Nikkie seemed annoyed about the pain issue when the numbing wore off. Amie and my other PMU artists were much more caring. read more

Critical: Professionalism I made an app and the Day before got an eye infection. Texted to reschedule and they said the " system" wouldn't allow them to reschedule because it's not in 48 hr policy. I had an appointment for permanent makeup on my eyebrows (microshading) with Amie. This was my first time at this location, previously I had it done in NYC. Amie was sooooo patient with me!!! She spent nearly an hour mapping out my eyebrows until it was absolutely perfect and I was satisfied!! I never had an experience like that!! My previous work that I had done in nyc left me with brows that were slightly asymmetrical, and Amie took the time to correct and revise them, to make sure they were absolutely perfect. She also made sure to listen to EXACTLY what I wanted, in terms of brow shape and preferring a more flatter shape than most people. I have now had two semi permanent make up sessions with Amie. She is very friendly, patient and a total perfectionist. She constantly stops and starts to check her work and make adjustments / keep going where necessary. You feel that she is committed to do perfect work until both you and she are pleased with the result. I had upper smokey eyeliner last week and lower eyeliner this week. She is conservative and emphasizes that you can always add more later. The spa suite is immaculate and a very fresh professional office.
