We chose Affinity Paint based off of these reviews on Yelp. Initially we were impressed with the company in that they surveyed our home and offered a professional invoice in a couple of days. The price was fair and the fabulous reviews on yelp persuaded us to invest our money in this company. Once we agreed to have our house painted, the secretary at Affinity gave us a start date. On the day of our start date, my husband and I woke up early in anticipation of the workers' arrival. Well, by noon no one had yet arrived. My husband then called the office to inquire, and the secretary replied with "I'm sorry, but we aren't starting until tomorrow. I'm sorry the painter didn't call you." Strike one. The next day the painters made their way to start prepping our home. They worked at a reasonable pace and spent most of their time (a few days) in the back of our house where we had the majority of prior paint damage (the sun beats down hard on this side of the house). Initially I was impressed with the amount of time they spent prepping the back, but when it came to the rest of the house, they did a pretty flimsy job at prep work. At one point we noticed that there was some termite damage to some of the trim work. I asked the worker if he could replace it and he said he would caulk it. I told him that I'd rather replace it (and it he couldn't do it, I would find someone who would.) he proceeded to caulk over it regardless. Strike two. As I mentioned, the prep work in the front of the house was almost non-existent. Our prior paint job had started to warp and peel, and I assumed that the painters would at least sand these areas to get it as level as possible. Nope. No such luck. They primered right over the patchy areas, and then painted directly over the chipped paint. When I approached one of the painters, he seemed irritated by my request to do it right. My husband and I snapped photos and video taped these shoddy areas. We showed them to the foreman who shook his head in disbelief. The next day the painter resanded the shoddy areas (and he must have used some high grit sand paper because he left the area very rough from sanding). He then repainted the areas (which was appreciated), but now I have a very rough looking front entryway. Strike three. On the last day of the job, my husband and I walked around the house to see how the paint looked. Again we were disappointed in the lack of prep work. The chipped, peeling areas are still visible under the new paint. There are areas that weren't sanded well enough and now that it's rainy season, I'm worried that the paint won't hold up. I'm also worried about water getting trapped behind the paint (and I'm hope we don't get mold and rot). Strike four. After the painters finished, my husband and I had to sweep up their mess (paint chips on the ground, water bottles on the lawn). We also noticed that two of our light fixtures were broken from the weight of the canvasses they used as drop cloths. We promptly notified the company, and I should add that they graciously reimbursed us for the lights. Overall, we weren't terribly pleased with the service we received. This review has been a long time in the coming. I hope it's cathartic that I write this down as the negativity is probably unhealthy to bottle in. Yeah, it's that BAD. Agree that people must have been paid for positive reviews. Being Yelp Elite that I am, I looked for a painter on Yelp to paint 2 bathrooms, kitchen, small enclave, floorboards and wooden framing near the enclave. We wanted to cover some light water damage recently fixed by a contractor crew and to cover loud colors (green, peach) from prior owner. I saw glowing reviews for Affinity Painting and made an appointment for a quote. Albert showed up on time and provided a reasonable quote compared to the quotes we had gotten from our contractor who was doing other minor work on the house (the paint job was too small for his team), other painters and handymen (I like to do homework and make informed decisions). Albert seemed a straight shooter and had outlined a detail oriented way of doing the work. For example, he said that he'd sand away the glossy paint and apply 2 new coats of premium paint. We felt some comfort in having a "pro painter" handle this, so we chose Affinity. From here, things went to SH*T. Albert subbed this out to a handyman. On his first day, this handyman did yet another walk through and said that Albert didn't know what he's talking about: Handyman saw no need to sand down the glossy paint in the bathrooms or kitchen. He'll simply paint over it with not two but one coat of paint. Also, forget about the enclave and wooden framing - he's not going to paint those since there's carpet beneath and he didn't want to have an accident. Price still holds, no discount despite the significant work he just refused to do. Oh and this handyman dared to give me his direct contact information so that I could call him directly for my next paint job, for a cheaper rate that cuts Albert out of the action. That's not what Albert wants him to do, I'm sure. I should have cancelled this job here but mistakenly chose to forge on cause I was pregnant and our doctor said that all painting must be done 2 months before the baby arrives due to concerns re inhalation of VOCs. Handyman shows up and does the short-cutted work, taking twice as long as we were quoted. I noticed paint dripping down the walls into the shower tile, drops of paint on our curtain rods and paint behind the toilet. I clean the paint off. Two weeks later, my tall husband happens to stretch and lightly touches the ceiling. Paint scrapes off where he touches, revealing the underlying color. We test other patches and every single test area revealed paint that could separate from the wall upon the lightest touch. See, Albert was right that glossy paint requires sanding before applying a new coat. We call Albert and he shows up on time and is visibly surprised at how the paint comes off with the lightest nick. We also complain that handyman didn't include the enclave and wooden framing in his work. He apologizes for the botched job yet again sends the same bad handyman to repaint. He offers no discount, no refunds, no offer to paint enclave or framing, despite the initial quote where that was deemed in scope. WE WERE VERY ANGRY! Same bad handyman comes and takes yet another week to scrape off the paint from all 3 rooms. He makes a mess (there's a ton of misc crap in the air, bad for super pregnant me) and there is sanded material everywhere, especially on the floor boards. I assumed he would clean and prep the floorboards before he repainted. I was wrong. He painted over the floorboards WITH SANDED MATERIAL STILL ON IT. WTH?? It looks like a 3 year old painted our floorboards as they are very bumpy. Paint again dripped all over (e.g. into the grout of the floor tiles, toilet). 9 month pregnant me again had to scrape that stuff off before it stuck for good - I missed a good deal of it since I wasn't able to bend over with my huge belly. While handyman claimed he sanded all surfaces prior to repainting this second time, this was clearly not the case. It's been some time since this paint job and gravity has pulled off the paint that didn't stick to the unsanded glossy surfaces of the ceiling. The water stains we were trying to originally cover peak through. This simple job that should have taken DAYS TOOK MONTHS to complete. I didn't have time the sanity to give Affinity a 3rd try to fix this - I had to deliver a baby. STAY AWAY. STAY VERY FAR AWAY. read more

One of the most solid painting companies out there. If you are questioning colors or have any questions ask for Albert or David. Those guys know their stuff and have a knack for colors. I've seen there work on multiple occasions and couldn't recommend them enough. I will be repainting my exterior house and will be reaching out for a quote as soon as the holidays are over. read more

Job unfinished and terrible customer service. I redeemed a voucher from LivingSocial for Affinity Painting. A painter was supposed to come on October 18 at 8:00 to paint my bedroom; when I scheduled the job, based on the size of my room and the color on the walls, I was told to buy one gallon of paint. The painter arrived an hour and a half late. Around 12:30, he told me that there wasn't going to be enough paint to completely cover the old color. Because he had been late to my house, he had to leave for another job - he couldn't wait for me to buy more paint and then finish. Affinity and I scheduled a painter to arrive today - October 21 - at 8:00 AM. There was no painter here at 8:00. I called the office at 8:20, only to discover it wasn't open; I left a message. I called at 9:00 and was told the painter was stuck in traffic. I called at 9:45 and was told he was "no more than 15 or 20 minutes away". I called at 11:00, and was then told he wasn't coming, due to an unspecified "emergency". I was also told that there was a possibility another painter could come today, and that I would be called back within an hour. I was not called back within an hour. I called around 12:10, and was told that no painter would be available today. Affinity then assured me that they would work with my schedule to find another date and time that would work for me. Because I am going to be out of town for a few days, I suggested Wednesday, October 30, at 5:00 PM; I was then told that no painter could come that late. I suggested 4:00. Also not feasible. Affinity then suggested Saturday, November 2, at 8:00 AM - which I have accepted, because there is apparently no other option, and their promises to accommodate my schedule clearly aren't true. At this point, my simple job - painting a bedroom - is going to take more than two weeks to complete. No one bothered to contact me today - I had to call every time to get information. I can't afford to miss another day of work waiting at home for painters who arrive late or do not arrive at all, so I'll take what I can get in order to get this job done. So much for the customer always being right. read more

I would give ZERO stars if it were an option. This place is horrible! They were supposed to do an estimate for me last week but nobody showed up. I called the office and told them that Pablo was supposed to be there... the receptionist was apologetic, not sure what happened, and rescheduled for the next day. No big deal! The next day, Pablo does show up. He takes lots of notes. I just bought a condo in N Hollywood and it needs lots of work done (popcorn ceiling removal, painting). He came on Wednesday afternoon and said I would have an estimate by Friday. Guess, what, it is now the next Wednesday, and still not estimate... I texted Pablo (he gave me his card with his cell) but no response. I went with another painter. I would never give these people an opportunity for my business. read more

We received several different estimates from various painters to paint the interior of our home. Albert's quote fell in the middle of the range but we decided to stick with Albert because no other painter was so friendly and easy to work with. We wanted to work with someone whom we felt we can trust and provide good consultation and we found that in Albert. We have received great compliments about the painting work from other people, including our next door neighbor who went with another painter. The only thing I am not sure of is to what degree of perfection I should expect painting work to be done. There were a few small areas that were either missed or sloppy so we asked Albert to bring his team back. Even after that, my husband had to touch up a few places. These are SMALL areas that I am referring to though. Overall, the painting in our home looks AWESOME and we are very happy with the result. read more

These guys are amazing. Our house just got repainted this past week and the results have been applauded in my neighborhood. Communicating with Albert in the consultation was very informative and descriptive of the work that would be done. I'm a detailed type of guy and Albert met those needs. The attention to detail when painting the trim and overhangs were exceptional. I tried looking for a missed spot all over the house where I believed they would have missed, but nothing. It's amazing what new paint will do to the whole look and feel of the house. Albert is also very responsive to e-mail and phone which created an effective partnership during the process. The streak continues, another happy Affinity customer. I didn't just trust the yelp reviews, I got several quotes before going with Affinity, which was in the middle of the pack with their price quote. I felt doing it 'right' was an investment, and I only had the best-of-the-best quote on my job, that according to the Yelp reviews. The closing point for me, aside from the Yelp reviews, was Albert who was the consultant. Needless to say, Albert knows his stuff, it was obvious that I was dealing with a true professional as he explained the process and suggested types of paint, etc. You will feel his passion for the job when he shows up to quote. I found Albert to be a solid, dependable professional who is not happy until you are happy. My house is my castle, so awarding my job to Affinity was a tough choice, but certainly the right choice in the end. My job included exterior painting, minor wall repair, and some love and care to restore some wood beams. The lead painter on my job was Salomon. Solid guy, walked me through what he was doing each day, and was always punctual, if he said he'd see me at 8am, I could set my clock to it. The crew was also VERY clean, they ensured that they left no trace behind that they were there. I also liked the fact that my job started and ended with no interruptions, my painting crew was dedicated to MY JOB. Albert came out to do the bid (the owner), and dealt with Ziggy over the phone, both were easy to deal with. Ziggy was good about handling communication between Albert and myself, and was prompt about returning calls. I mention this because more often than not, businesses fall flat when it comes to relaying messages to the appropriate people in a timely manner. The painter came on time and was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The job wasn't flawless, but the price was right, so I have no complaints, all things considered. I have used Affinity to paint two different houses, and for multiple projects. I typically dealt with Albert when getting estimates and scheduling the work. And I would be happy to use them again in the future. Overall, I have found that Affinity offers reasonable prices, performs good preparation on the work surfaces, the workers are professional, and most importantly they communicate the status of the work very well to ensure there are no scheduling conflicts. And if for some reason something was missed, they were always willing to do touch ups to ensure the job was done well. I highly recommend Affinity! read more

It was only a visit to my home for an estimate, but he was so patient with me and gave me such wonderful decorating tips that would have cost me hundreds. I need more than just paint on walls, I need different types of glazing and faux prints, that he was very familiar with--I am doing a little more research, but seriously considering using Affinity. This place was recommended to me by some friends and I was happy with the experience. We painted all the rooms inside before moving into a new home and Daniel and his crew were good to work with. Daniel was professional and efficient with his quote and very flexible in working with me regarding timelines and pricing. He also made it a point to give me various options so I had a good understanding of how much things would cost depending on what I wanted painted. The job took 3 days and they even agreed to work on a Sunday to work with my timing (at an additional cost). The first day the painters were late as they said the paint store opened late, but the next two days they were early. The painters themselves were also very nice and professional. Overall I'm happy with the work. The rooms look great. I do see some small imperfections here and there but I believe that's normal. It's hard to do a whole home perfectly. My wife and I were originally looking to paint just our living and dining room and began looking for some professionals to do a good job. I searched Yelp and read a lot of reviews and settled on Affinity. Daniel came to our home ato prepare an estimate using their own Sherman Williams paint but I eventually asked for another estimate where I would provide the paint. (I preferred Benjamin Moore). At first, I had to chase them down for the estimate but once we got the ball rolling I was placed on the schedule and a two man crew was sent out. The crew was friendly, easy to communicate with and most importantly did a nice job. We were so pleased that we added the dining room cabinets to the estimate. Then we were so happy with that work, we added the hallway and eventually two bedrooms. Needless to say, they did good work and the price was reasonable or else we would not have added more to the job. My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the initial communication delays. Now our interior looks great, we used the non VOC paint that we personally chose and tested with, and we're happy customers leaving positive feedback on the website we discovered them at. read more

We used Affinity to paint some exterior surfaces on our home, as well as three interior rooms. They did a fine job, very friendly. They were very accommodating for our 2 year-old, who really wanted to 'help'. I wasn't thrilled with an aspect of the exterior work, they came out the next day and fixed it. Hiring contractors can be a nightmare. I have yet to find a contractor worthy of five stars, but Affinity comes pretty close. I'd use them again and have recommended them to a neighbor. read more

It's suggested that you get 3 bids for work on your home and go with the middle. I got 6 and went with the lowest. Not a gamble at all when they rate so high on Yelp. I'd only like to add to that with a 5 star review myself. Great bid. Great customer service. Great work. Great attention to detail. Short and sweet, these guys are the best. They did my exterior on my two-story home + a detached garage. My wife, son and I could not be happier with the work. We had Daniel come over to give us a quote to paint the exterior of our home. Daniel was very prompt and looked around. The price he gave us was around mid range of all the other companies but we were impressed with his professionalism and appreciated the estimate emailed to us. Daniel's crew came in and did a awesome and quick job, the guys were very courteous and clean. After the crew finished the job and left, we felt the balcony painting had some cracks in the paint, so we called Daniel he came over and looked and sent the crew over to redo it. We were very satisfied. Thank you Affinity, we loved the work you did. And appreciate that payment was never asked till the job is over. My only suggestion would be, a walk-though at the end of the job by the owners to make sure the crew did the job up to their standard. Wow, great experience with Affinity-Painting! Although it took a little longer than anticipated, it was well worth the time. Gilberto and his crew did and excellent job in painting our home. He paid close attention to detail and went above and beyond my initial expectations. As a result, the finish project was exceptional. A glance does not do the completed job justice. It's in the details, from painting the overhangs, making razor sharp cuts, and where the results were less than stellar (a few paint bleeds due to the rough stucco or uneven surface). He went back and fixed it by recutting it with with the base or trim color. Thanks AP, you have yet another happy customer! read more

Ok, so for those looking for painting a commercial building, look no more. These guys are good!. I had several bids and Affinity Paininting was not the highest or lowest, right in the middle. I chose albert since he was very knowledgable answers all of the questions thruout the entire project. (Mine was 2 full weeks). His crew was only a few men that showed up on time all days. We chose a color, but it wasn't right when it was put on the wall. I should have had multiple samples first before most of the paint was purchased. Don't go by the color samples they have in Paint stores, always have them paint the samples on the wall before purchasing large quantities. Anyways, lessoned learned for future people who want paint their house or commercial building. Work was done fast, and clean. Always kept the jobsite very neat, especially in a high traffic commercial zone, where accidents can happen. Over all, very happy how the entire project turned out and the final colors on the building. Will use them again in the future. read more

Highly recommend Affinity - we worked with Daniel Abad. He was professional, fair and prompt with the estimate and was ready to go with a 3 man crew. We had the entire interior repainted in our new 3000 sq. foot home in Orange. The crew was fantastic - great attention to detail and helped us patch/texture spots, holes we thought were hopeless. We also appreciated that they moved our furniture with great care, nothing damaged or scratched. There were dedicated to our job (they even showed up on Christmas Eve to complete the project on time). Took their time with the final walk through and touch-ups as well. Great experience with Affinity! Called them based on their ratings on Yelp. They told me I could go to a Sherman-Williams store and choose my colors and then give them the name and number of the paint. I was able to get a quote over the phone. I don't really know how their prices are since they were the only ones I called. I did save $100 by using their coupon on Yelp. The man who came to paint my room did a good job. He went above from what we told him to paint and made no mess. We will probably use them again in the near future to paint our two bathrooms. read more
