Been here for several problems. If you don't make an appointment before hand, don't expect to get good or prompt service. Their parking lot is always full, it's difficult to find room to park. Their troubleshooting is haphazard at best. I've had to come back for the same problem multiple times to get it fixed. It seems there's always one other problem. While their staff isn't outright rude, I do think their customer service could be better. Overall, an underwhelming experience. read more

I've had maintenance on my truck done at many garages in many cities over the last ten years, and Affordable Automotive is by far the best. They turnaround is fast, the work has been flawless, the staff is friendly, and the rates are truly affordable. They have done oil changes, suspension work, brakes, smog checks, A/C work, belts and hoses, and electrical work for me. They usually come in under estimate and complete the work in a single day. Sometimes I have an appointment and sometimes I do not, but they've always managed to fit me in. They have never quoted unnecessary work (I have a fair amount of mechanical/automotive knowledge but nowhere to work on my truck myself.) I just picked my truck up from them today after an oil change, replacement of radiator hoses, and evac/recharge of my AC. As it is my only vehicle and the buses were running late, I showed up fifteen minutes after close. Two mechanics had stayed late to make sure I could pick up my truck tonight. Last month I got my Air Condition fixed in my Van. I received excellent service by Simon. The AC works great and the price was Awesome!! for todays prices. I was so pleased I took my Van to them again for more repairs. This time my experience was very different. I did write a review about it. The owner/manager Mike called me up to apologize and to tell me how important I was as a customer and that my less than excellent service upset him deeply. This impressed me very much. Most companies don't care and just dismiss complaints as if the customer was not worth caring about. Mike at Affordable Automotive REALLY CARES!!!!! The prices can not be beat!! This shop is first class when it comes to customer service! My first impression when walking in was the "Welcome" sign with my name on it! They had everyone's name written on the sign who they would be seeing that day. A small gesture, but it made me smile. Then I hung out with the guys at the shop for a couple hours in the lobby because I didn't need a ride anywhere, which they offered to do for me. While waiting in the lobby the guys were so friendly and I could tell they were happy in their jobs. My car was ready ahead of schedule and I was off to my meeting on time! I did not receive any service here for my car, but I pulled in after my car's check engine light came on and the transmission started going haywire. I asked them if they could check the code for me. The two techs there were so kind, checked the code, looked it up on the computer for me and even printed directions to the local Ford dealer (since my car is still under warranty). They didn't charge me anything and genuinely wanted to help me out. If their service is this good I'll certainly give them my custom in the future! read more

So I had a brake light go out. In the old days every bulb was the same. I picked one up at the store to replace it. Then I couldn't figure out how to get the lens off. What happened to the good old days when a regular screwdriver fit everything. Anyways after my frustration I went to affordable, because I had my smog done there, and told them to just do it. I figured it couldn't be that much and it was worth not getting any madder. Well they fixed it in a jiffy and had me on my way. Surprisingly enough they didn't even charge me. I've been to Affordable three times now with my old (200k+) Mustang, and they have always treated me honestly and fairly. Mike and his staff are courteous and professional, and clearly understand the value of a loyal customer--which I am now. All repairs have been quick, complete--and Affordable. I was especially pleased this week to leave the car Monday morning for three separate things, and pick up the car that afternoon with all three items fixed. With my old car, I'll undoubtedly be back. It's always scary to pick a new mechanic, but my trusty Prius was having problems that my regular mechanics could not address so I went with Affordable Automotive on the recommendation of my tire and oil change mechanic. I am so glad I did. I cannot recommend these people enough. Not only did they take care of my car pretty quickly,and tell me that I needed to bring it to the dealers so i wouldn't have to pay anything, but they charged me nothing for the diagnosis. That's right, nothing. I trust these guys quite a bit now because they probably could've taken me for at least a few hundred - maybe more, and they didn't. I will definitely be back. read more

As people have mentioned before, this shop is busy for a reason. They do quick, good quality, and affordable work. I made an appointment for my vehicle on Tuesday for Wednesday afternoon, but when I called Wednesday they couldn't get me in. However, they took 5$ off the price of my services and got my car in on Thursday (2/20/14). The place was definitley busy, but they did the variety of services I needed in an hour and 45 minutes. My only compliant is the staff is not exactly as friendly as the reviews had stated (they seemed more bored/tired than anything), but it's not enough to lower the star rating. Affordable automotive is the name...you would think their pricing would be more affordable. I found the same items they changed out on my car for over 50% cheaper straight from the dealer. I get putting a mark up on your supplies is how you keep a business running, but 100% mark up is not affordable... For example a $80 light bulb should not be $195.. read more

I've now been taking my LandRover Disco here for a year now for general maintenance: They are always on top of it! Disco's can be tricky, but these guys have the knowledge to do the job right, and so far they HAVE BEEN under estimate for every job. I highly recommend if you have a Landrover/Rangerover. read more

Price was very reasonable and job was done in a timely manner. And I just brought in my Toyota Corolla with a panel falling off underneath the car to Affordable Auto West. Very disappointed!!! The estimate for the repairs was 3x greater than most of the other shops. They also could not figure out my car, etc....I was very surprised. I called and asked if they ever figured out the estimate. They could not even figure it out. The guy couldn't even figure out what kind of car I had. He gave me the wrong price for a different car. Instead, I went to another shop where they quickly figured it out and were direct with me. The other shops knew what type of car I drove. Also, a friend took her Mercedes there and they put too much oil in it! I had a very bad experience here and will not come back. read more

Last year I had my air conditioning fixed by affordable automotive and they guarantee their work for 2 years. No more than a month later it was completely shot again. This year we finally brought it in because of the hot weather, and they told us it was hoses and all these other things and they wanted $700 to fix it. After dealing with Simon in front, Jim told us to talk to Mike the owner because he will help you. He said "Simon is off kilter (doesn't that mean insane?) and Mike the owner will help you." We tried contacting Mike at least 5 or 6 times via phone and he was never even in the office. We finally just stop by the shop to talk to Mike, and instead of addressing the problem he told my husband "stand up, and get out the fuck out of my office you peice of shit"!!!!!!! Words cannot even describe how upset I am by their treatment of me and my husband. I would never suggest affordable automotive to anyone, because I would never want to subject someone to their mistreatment of customers. Sure, all the good reviews are good because the problem was fixed. But notice how bad the bad reviews are. When they mesd things up they REALLY mess things up!! A more expensive place diagnosed me with a bad wheel bearing. I took it here instead and they said it was not the bearing that was my problem, but over $500 of other things instead. I continued to have problems and another mechanic confirmed that the bearing was dangerously bad and the rest of the work Affordable Automotive did was not only unnecessary, but poorly done. They cost me a lot of money and I'm lucky they did not cost me my life. read more

Affordable automotive allegedly 'repaired' my vehicle by replacing the radiator. It ran for 2 weeks, then started overheating on my drive down to sacramento. I barely made it down but didn't have time to address the issue as I was catching a flight out. When I returned, my vehicle (again) overheated on my drive back to chico, leaving me broke down & stranded on the side of the road. The damaged that occurred because of the 'repaired' radiator & overheating, essentially destroyed the vehicle- as the new repair would cost more than the vehicles worth. So I decided not to have affordable automotive 'fix' the radiator AGAIN & the additional damage it caused since i didn't want another short term fix that would potentially leave me stranded, screwed & broke. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE TO ACTUALLY REPAIR YOUR VEHICLE or you may end up without a vehicle altogether. read more

My daughter had an electrical problem with her car and I left it here for a diagnosis. I was called the next day and was told that the drain from the sunroof had plugged and water had gotten into the fuse box and corroded it. Ok, I agreed to the estimate and it was repaired in a few days. Great! 3 year-36k mile warranty on the repairs, daughter back on the road. The problem I had was that I was charged $451 for a replacement fuse box. I checked and the retail price through Honda was $237 (from several different on line sites.). Almost twice as much as retail. Now I know that the mark up on parts is business, but come on. Other than that, everything else was fine. read more

VERY GOOD! I just had my clutch and transmission replaced in Tahoe 9 months ago and my clutch exploded at my work. I had it towed here and they fixed it for free because it was still under warranty even though it wasn't them who fixed it in the first place! 1000 dollar repair and they did an amazing job it's better than it was before. What an awesome company. In addition to the honest, accurate and fair priced work they do the customer care is top notch. There was a simple misunderstanding (by a very new employee) that resulted in our car being locked in the shop when they left for the weekend. It was to be left in the parking lot with the key hidden in it since we had already paid for the work the plan was to pick it up using our spare key to gain entry. When it wasn't out front as per plan we thought we would be without the car for the weekend. We made a phone call and one of the owners was down there in no time at all to retrieve our car . That level of customer care (not just service is very hard to find. These guys do very professional work, will allow you to supply most parts if you can find them cheaper and go above and beyond what any reasonable person would expect in terms of customer care. I brought my ford van in because it was running very ruff at idle . I did my homework before I brought it in to them so I had a pretty good idea what was wrong. I told them the problem (what I thought) and they said they would check it out . so I left the van and waited for a estimate. They did a complete diagnostic on the motor . and guess what I was right . but I am very grateful that they took the time to check it out instead of taking my word and just change out parts and hope for the best on my dime . the price was very fair and the van is running great ! its hard to find a good and fair auto mechanic in this world .
