I thought I had found a good place to get an affordable clinic visit and other regular vaccines such as rabies, shop, leptospirosis, etc. for our dog as we just moved here from out of town. The staff were generally helpful and friendly during the first visit but my dog had a little anxiety the first time and was unable to stay calm enough to get his vaccines. So they prescribed some gabapentin and trazaodone to calm him down. They charged about $30 for the drugs, which is way overpriced but fair enough, I took up half an hour of their time. The next visit went fine - the vet really didn't say too much until we asked him so questions. We had to go back a third time to get the leptospirosis booster. Unfortunately, my dog's anxiety sprung up again and the staff could not get the vaccine in him. So they recommended the gabapentin/trazaodone again. I asked if I could get a prescription to fill it at a Petco or Petsmart. They said they could only fill it in house and it was $42 for three portions. As these pills were like 17 cents each online, I asked if I could a prescription to fill it outside. I was told that it was the vet's policy that they could only fill the pills inside. I ended up getting the booster elsewhere (without any need for drugs) and won't be back. read more

Tons of red flags at this place! 1. When you come into a vets office, you expect it to be clean. I understand there is going to be hair, but while my dog and I were waiting, I noticed there was hair on the window seal, hair in a community water dog bowl etc. 2. It took the vet 20minutes to even get my dog to take her for the exam, plus they don't do the exam in front of you which is very weird in my opinion. 3. I had asked the vet tech to talk to the vet about fleas and to see if my dog had any. While I was waiting on the vet to take my dog back, I took the opportunity to look for fleas, I found a few. Well whenever the vet came in and talked to me, I asked her and she said "I didn't see any". So you're telling me, someone that doesn't have a trained eye can see fleas and you can't? This tells me the vet didn't even look, seems like they didn't care. 4. While waiting on the vet, my dog was whining so I poked my head out and asked if I could take her out to go potty... they lady at the front desk gave what I felt was attitude "uhm you can if you want too". I told her I was just gonna take her potty real quick, her response was "well I just worry about her being so little and being under vaccinated". Lady what do you expect that I do at home? Let her pee freely in the house? 5. The vet her self was not confident in the way she speaks, she couldn't answer any of my questions without giving me an overall vague description. 6. When my dog's test results came back they called me and told me that I needed to pick up medication and I said that was fine and I'd be there. They tried to get me to make a visit with them again and I told them "I'm not trying to be rude, but we will not be returning, I wasn't impressed with you guys" the only thing they said was "we appreciate the honesty". They never asked what they could do to improve or anything. My advice is, spend the extra dollars and go to a real vet because this place was sad and dirty, employees had attitude and the vet doesn't speak with confidence. Overall it just didn't make me feel very good about the care for the animals. read more

This little hole in the wall is a hidden gem for vet care! We were blown away by the service and care from the nurse and Doctor. Our dogs loved them! Also, they are extremely affordable- hence the name ha! We have two dogs so usually the price for check ups and vaccines can be quite steep. We were shocked by the price! This place is very unprofessional. They never answer phone calls or emails. They have two phone numbers that I tried to call but never do they answer. I tried to contact them when my dog needed the vet to approve the prescription for Trifexis, and he refuses to approve it. When they did answer the phone, their only excuse was that the vet was busy. I waited for two weeks and still no response even though I called everyday and even got the pharmacy to contact them.....and they still did not answer. I didn't want to keep my hopes up so I eventually canceled the prescription. Recently I got an email that my dog needed to get his yearly rabies vaccination. I called and guess what? Of course they did not answer. At this point, i am very disappointed because I have been taking my dog here for a while now and its only recent that they are this unresponsive. read more

After I showed up to my appointment I made over the phone at my regular vet, I was told I wasn't on the schedule. Frustrated and desperate to get my dog some flea medicine, I called Affordable Pet Care. They told me to bring him in, weigh him, and I could get his flea pill that day. Thank God for Affordable Pet Care! They saved my pup from his flea-bitten misery. Went here for the first time the other day and had such a great experience! I chose this place after researching vets in the area and seeing some bad reviews for others. I'm so glad I went here! I recently adopted a dog and wasn't sure if she had been chipped or vaccinated. They scanned her for a chip and called her previous vet to get her vaccination records for me! When we talked about heartworm and flea prevention, they offered to start her on some that day or give me a link to the online pharmacy so I could compare prices. I really appreciate how patient they were with my questions, and how I never felt like I was being sold unnecessary services or products (unlike the last vet I went to). The only thing great about this place was that the vaccines are cheap and front desk person was amazing. I'm not one to write bad reviews but this place was awful, my dog just like any is going to be anxious in a new place, however the tech was unprofessional and not patient with him. I work in healthcare myself and I would never ever disregard a patient who is in need she was basically trying to sedate him her and vet because he was barking, my dog is not aggressive in any way, I refused the sedation, then basically put a muzzle on my dog, (which my dog has never bit nor harmed anyone in life)the vet never came out to introduce themselves to me which was very unprofessional. Then because of the barking they didn't cut his nails. I thought vets were places your dog should feel warm and welcomed the only one who was sweet was the front desk woman, bless her heart she was the only one sweet with my dog. No nonsense, fast appointments and helpful techs who can answer many questions that may keep you from dodging in all the time, THAT'S RARE. This clinic is a good place to take your pets for standard routine exams and meds. The vets who staff it own a full-service clinic, and offer this location as an alternative for folks who otherwise might not bring their dog/cat regularly for vaccines or heart worm preventative and other meds. They take appointments, so you don't have to come in and hope you're seen that day, like some other discount clinics. My standard vet clinic has become increasingly expensive, though they do spend more time on exams and "pampering" than this clinic does. They also push their expensive services. I haven't found that to be the case here. They're friendly and competent and very no-nonsense, and they tend to keep their appointments short. They dispense the name brand medications themselves, so you aren't getting some off-brand med to make up for the discount. If your pet is generally healthy and you want to save money on standard veterinary services, or if you are considering skipping vet appointments due to cost, consider giving them a try. Keep your other vet for emergencies and more extensive issues. Just a note: they're closed Sundays and Mondays, but are open Saturdays, so you can plan accordingly. read more

Today, my boston terrier and I, had our first visit at Affordable Pet Care. I was referred here by a coworker after telling her how much I disliked our current (now previous) vet. My coworker used to take her dog to the same place so she understood exactly why I was so upset. Anyway, she proceeded to tell me about APC and that I should try them. It turns out, APC was only about a 5 minute drive from my house, so I decided to give them a try! From the minute I walked through the door, I loved the place! It's neat, clean, and welcoming. Oh my gosh !!!! Why didn't I know about this place before now... My poor dog has been SUFFERING from really bad itch and I had been taking him to a different vet which was only giving me the Steroid shot option for my poor min pin mix... I kept opting to get it done and have had this dog on Benadryl for too long now... When I brought him here after seeing my dog suffer a seizure from all the itch and stuff in his ears and belly from the itching ... I have gone to this vet for two years in a row, purchased Trifexis for my animal and needed to get another script for my dog. This vet refused to give me another script. Therefore, if you lose the pills or use them for another animal who is very old, your dogs are out of luck. In addition, when my daughter used their full service clinic, and that hospital charged her for six months of Heartguard medication an never gave it to her. When she called them up, they told her she got those pills. She will not be going back to that hospital where she spend well over $2000 to treat her dog. I shall be visiting Heroes of Leander. I've seen this place during my morning commute for a while, and decided to give them a call right before closing yesterday to see if they could help me early this morning.
