From day one, nothing but problems. Installed system prior to any approval from anyone(townhouse community). They cut holes in the dark red bricks on the FRONT of the home right by garage door (near top) & had white pipes exhausting right there...neighbors & association was furious! Association MADE them move pipes, repair bricks etc.
To resolve, they trailed pipes through the entire length of attic...and even though would have been easier to securely hang close to rafters near roof, they "L braced" it and laid all piping across floor making the entire attic unusable space.
The pipes were never sealed at any joint & joints kept coming apart in different places! We called numerous times, they kept blaming us telling us we must have moved pipes or laid something on them causing joints to come apart. The exhaust pipe itself even fell right out of the open hole in roof (again, not secured nor sealed at all). We had rain coming into attic for weeks before we knew of problem, Open hole right into our attic, and pipe laying on the floor that should have plugged up the hole. We asked numerous times to seal the hole, secure the joints, brace the pipe so it would not fall out again, it is literally being held up by it's own imagination! Affordable just insisted we were not allowed to store anything in attic as any weight near or on any pipe will cause joints to separate, and that is our fault!
Last but not least, just had home re-test, found radon reading still too high (5.7 reading).
Now we learn that the 1st pipe going from garage directly into the attic was never even connected. This is in a very small, dark corner we cannot see nor reach. There is absolutely no way we could have moved that pipe in any imagination. Found out from home inspector that since installed, radon has been exhausting into attic directly, nothing ever has exhausted to the exterior of home. The radon reading is higher now, than before system was installed!
I have been calling, no return calls yet. Have already filed complaint with BBB, looking at lawsuit next for radon exposure. read more
