Absolutely disgraceful. I came in for simply a cup of tea. Doesn't sound too difficult to make right? No, it isint. However I had to wait 25 minutes for it at 11pm on a Sunday night when it was dead quiet. I saw a family get served a 3 course meal before I received my tea. The food was decent I can't lie but having worked in the food industry before as a server this by far was the worst service I ever got in my life. My friend through a going away event at this place first of all it was January and it was poorly heated but we were placed by the door upon asking for a seat change we were told that we already sat down so we wouldn't be able to be moved, needless to say after some fussing we were finally moved one table over where we could still feel the draft. After we were settled we waited 45 minutes for our cans of soda to arrive. Our meals took an hour to hit the table. Then we were constantly ignored by our server who tended to her larger table left us in the back burner. But to top the horrible experience off they have the nerve to add 18% gratuity to the bill. I have never left no tip but this day I made an exception got the gratuity taken off the bill. This place is so awesome, or so we thought we came to a nice place eat but we learn the error of our choice we ordered and waited and waited and waited but 40 mins later only our appetizer came but the food or what we thought was food came another 10-15 mins after. Our server was so amazing that she bought us water when we were paying the bill after we asked for some more water. The food tasted so amazing that it was begging to come out my stomach and straight into a trash can. If your looking for high quality shit at a high price this is the perfect place to come to. So my husband and I live walking distance from Affy's. We've lived in the area 9 months or so and didn't discover this place until that changed stumbling on reviews on Restaurant.com. This place houses the best lamb chops I've ever had and I'm not one to dish out compliments easily giving my deep experiences with food. Food here is amazing! Housed in a high-luxury looking feel of a modern setup, you'll feel special eating out here; a first date brought here would be a sealed deal based on the ambiance - and the food! Josephine, though only two days employed here will offer you salsa and tortilla chips like you've had no where else! We also had BBQ ribs that was best in class and quite the mouthful. I came here with five friends to celebrate my getting into a good mba program. Most of us ordered the beef ribs and my friend sharanika ordered the steak. We all had pina coladas. I ate some of my ribs and went to the bathroom then felt nauseous and threw up a little in the sink. I immediately informed the bartender. I went back to my friends and then two waitresses came up to me and said why did you throw up we have to clean that up, why didnt you throw up in the toilet, like im suppose to aim when im sick from their food. I paid the bill of $200 with a $20 service fee and a $30 tip on top of that. Then the boss came up to me told me to come over here and said to me you cant do this you know you have to tell somebody when you throw up because people have to use the bathroom. They had the balls to charge me a $30 tip on top of the $20 service fee and then say i shouldve told them i threw up when i did tell them immediately. I guess the bartender and the waitresses didnt feel like cleaning it up so the boss got mad. Bad experience all around and my friends say the steak sucks with the sauce. Get the sauce on the side. First, our waitress was absolutely amazing. We came in with our toddler Grandchildren (that were starving) from out of town. The waitress went over and beyond for us and was very attentive, just excellent customer service. I had the Filet with Lemon Butter Sauce. I have dined at Peter Lugers and my filet was far better than any steak I have had at Peter Lugers, so tender and grilled to perfection. We had to wait 45-55 mins for our food to arrive. Our waittress didnt inform us that it will take that long. The steaks wasn't cooked to the temperature that we wanted it to be. Than the chicken in Fajitas were very hard and chewy. The service wasn't good at all for the price. Lamb chops weren't that good for $33. It had a smell and they were very thick unlike other lamb chops i tried in other places. The side vegetables suppose to be sauteed but it was just steamed. Very bad food and service for the price. Chicken wings were great, Steak was good, kids menu chicken fingers and fries were horrible, vegetables were not fresh, complimentary chips and dip is great however be prepared to pay up. Prices are ridiculous high. Your in the midwood section of brooklyn not midtown manhattan. I'm not sure where to start. From the order to the person that answered the phone when I called. First it took almost 2 hours for me to receive my food. When I called the girl on the phone didn't seem to care and was very rude. When the burger arrived it was cold and the fries were soggy. They also forgot my coke that I ordered. When I called about that, the girl was very sarcastic about them forgetting the coke. When they finally came back to deliver the Coke that I asked for, instead of a Coke I received a Ginger Ale. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. I never complain but this was the worst experience when ordering food. read more

I'm being generous with 3 stars here. My friend praised this place saying their food was delicious but she did warn that the wait to get into the restaurant was long. But when me and my 2 friends arrived, it was a Friday around 4 and there were only about 2 other customers in there so we got seated right away. So the waiter came and took our order, and gave us chips with salsa which tasted great. But after waiting 40 minutes our food hadn't arrived yet and i was starting to get really annoyed because of how long it took to serve 3 burgers. All the waiters were just sitting on their phones and after about 50 minutes my onion ring burger arrived. I expected it to taste great but it was okay. The meat wasn't as juicy as I would have liked it but i still ate it because of how hungry I got waiting. Overall, I am not too impressed but I'm willing to give it a second chance. read more

2 hour wait for a party of 4 at 9 PM at night... seems kind of ridiculous. We finally got seated, and we didn't have silverware, waters, etc. No one asked us for a drink order, although we did finally get glasses and waters. I ordered a medium-well NY strip steak - I am not that picky of an eater, but I actually sent it back. The steak was so over-cooked it was difficult to cut it with the steak knife. My side order was also incorrect. I waited another 25 minutes for my food to come back while the rest of our party ate their dinner. When I did get my corrected meal, the waitress just put it down in front of me and walked off - didn't offer an apology, or even "here is your food". You would think that after sending the steak back, it would have been cooked correctly, but unfortunately, it was not. While it was less over-cooked, it was still well done. I was so hungry at this point, I ate it anyway. If you're going to call yourself a "premium grill" specializing in steaks, then I would expect the steak to be cooked correctly. The place was very crowded and everything was slow. It was obvious this was due to poor management and a chaotic system of operation, and not just that there were a lot of people. The only positive was that the steak seasoning was tasty, but considering that was the cheapest thing on the plate... -_- If you want to check this place out, definitely make a reservation or you'll be waiting for a very long time. Luckily the weather was nice outside when we were waiting, because there isn't really room inside for more than 5-6 people to stand. read more

I created a yelp account just to write this review. If I could give this a place zero stars I would but in order to write a review I needed to give a star. After seeing all these good reviews on yelp my family and I decided to take a drive from Long Island to Brooklyn to try out there food for lunch. There office hours apparently show that they are open at noon so why is it that when we get there after driving in the rain for like an hour there door is open with the lights on but no staff anywhere to be found. We call the store to have the phone disconnected. We thought maybe they stepped out or something but even than with the door open!!?? So we decide to wait for over half hour and still no one shows up and phone still not connected. We were fuming and starving at this point and decided to leave and went to another spot we even called at 4 and no one answered still finally at 5 someone picks up. A girl answers we ask what the office hours are and she says it opens at noon when we tell her that we were there at 230pm and no one was there and door was open lights on but NO ONE to be found I mean no one screamed loudly hellooooo anyone there and nothing and when calling the phone was disconnected. This is the shocker she goes oh I opened but had to leave cuz I had class at three and came back after and turned on phone that's how young and not so smart this person was cuz that made it ten times worse hearing that. I asked to speak to the manager he's like oh I'm sorry. SORRY like dude your staff left the store to attend a class and a customer drove over an hour from Long Island to try out the food for no one to be there is unacceptable. I hope the owner reads this cuz my friend you are losing business while your staff is getting there education on. Will not ever be coming back. Hours are clearly not as stated. read more

Second time here. First time was opening week and second time years later. Continues to be mediocre and disappointing on every level. I ordered the Hawaiian short ribs with mashed potatoes and a caesar salad. My wife ordered the top sirloin medium well with mashed potatoes and vegetables. For anyone that has ever had short ribs, please erase any and all expectations before ordering these ones. They are flimsy scraps of meat that have more in common with beef jerky than short ribs. The sauce is a spicy, tangy, overpowering flavor that just doesn't feel like it belongs. As a matter of fact it doesn't belong because you can scrape it off with your fork, leaving a greyish overcooked meat scrap beneath. The mashed potatoes are nothing to write home about while the salad was clearly not fresh and doused in dressing. As for the sirloin, it came both extremely overcooked and lukewarm. How one manages to cook a steak for so long yet have it served cold is bewildering to me. This place is priced about as high as a non-halal steakhouse only with subpar quality meat and produce. Do yourself a favor and spend your money somewhere that's worth it because this place is not. read more

Not sure if anyone was able to read my last 5 star review, but that was extorted for a free brownie cake but now that I ate it already I can be completely honest. If you like being utterly ignored over every request, waiting hours for your food and then having to beg for something as simple as water then please come on down to Affys Grill, you will not be disappointed. I came here with a large party on multiple occasions and since they know that the tip will automatically be added they can care less about the service they provide. Orders come out wrong, the waiter literally comes to the table maybe once and if you need anything, good luck getting that. Literally I feel like I should have gotten a cash back rebate for the service I got instead of giving a tip. It sucks that there aren't many halal steakhouses cause if I was able to find another one, I for sure would never step another foot into this time sucking restaurant. I personally made this yelp account to leave this review. First and foremost, the staff there is terrible. They aren't attentive at all, we had to wait around just to get our waitress let alone our orders taken. Our waitress, I think her name was Sam had such a nasty attitude throughout the entire experience. On top of that it seemed as though the owner of the place might be more intimate with his staff than meets the eye, which I personally thought to be unprofessional and just unappealing in general. So in that sense the place was a major failure. The look of the place however was decent, it had a nice, clean look to it, unfortunately the staff didn't meet the standards. As for the food, it was okay. Being that this was a Halal Steakhouse I was extremely excited to eat here but after the experience with the staff and the wait time for the food, there was no longer excitement. I ordered the 10 ounce Affy's Steak, I ordered it medium well and it came out well done and way to dry, the gravy that came with it didn't help the dryness of the steak. My drink that i ordered from the beginning never ended up coming, major disappointment being that it was such a simple task. Anyway overall the food was mediocre and the staff and owner made things very uncomfortable for me and my friend. We wont be coming back. read more
