I've never dined in but have ordered take out few times. The food definitely doe snot disappoint. The grilled meats and the soups are delicious. My only complaint (which i have voiced to the restaurant-sadly fell on deaf ears) is that EVERY single time i have ordered take out, i always asked for the afghan bread and when i go to pick it up; they've suddenly (magically) run out of it that exact moment. Bread, salad, rice and meat is very fresh. Big portions. BYOB which is plus for me. There's a liquor store a half block away, but it's closed on Sunday's. I went to the 711 down the block and got a beer which was delicious with the grilled kebobs. It was empty when I was there due to time of day and the music was a bit grating after awhile. Great restaurant! The food tastes amazing. Very flavorful authentic afghan cuisine. The samosas, eggplant, and mantoo were great appetizers and all tasted very good. The bargh kabob is my favorite with the boneless chicken breast kebab. As far as the chicken koobideh I wasnt really a fan. The white sauce also tastes very good with the perfect consistency of vinegar and mayo. The sabzi was ok (tasted a little bitter not going to lie), and the borani kadu was great (it was more of stew then actual "borani") and the other side was qoormeh gosht (beef stew with lentils) that was really delicious. Great lunch special and they give a lot of food too. I had the lamb kebob with rice and I was super surprised at how tender and juicy the lamb was....I only had lamb twice before and never had a good experience. It came with I think jasmine rice which tied perfectly with the lamb. They also gave us three sauces with it and it gave the dish a good kick of spicy. Food is consistent and tasty, I love the sultani kebab (beef) but have tried a few options that I liked. The place is small but cute. You could bring a semi-casual date there or even a family. Service is generally fast in my opinion but every now and then the food takes a little longer that you may expect. Understaffed! On a Saturday night it can be very busy. Not having enough people can delay your order, but it is worth the wait. Go out of your comfort zone and try Qabuli pilaf. It's delicious. My boyfriend and I enjoy this place for a few reasons... It's never packed. Food Is on point I usually get the Cornish hen kabob with saffron rice with sauces on the side! One of my favorite places. Small. Quiet. Nice husband and wife owners. Excellent food. Large portions. Always flavorful with little spicy heat. But you can turn up the heat with the sauces. My favorite is the "lawand" creamy chicken stew. My kids love the steak kabobs. (BYOB if that's your thing.) read more

In addition to their food, the husband and wife team who runs this restaurant are the sweetest people you'll ever come across. This place is so good. Their platters are a great deal and they'll even separate the meat and rice for you if you're sharing family style. My brother-in-law has been raving about Afghan Grill for as long as I've known him. Having never actually tried Afghani cuisine I was curious, yet skeptical... The verdict: Afghan Grill did not disappoint! The food was absolutely delicious. Not having anything to compare it to, I can without a doubt say that this was the best Afghani meal I've ever had. I've been coming to this place for years. My parents are very friendly with the staff. They are really nice people and you can't top the food. They recently have become very popular due to a review in the New York Times and a few other papers. You can appreciate their BYOB policy at no extra charge. The lamb shank is my favorite. Been coming here since they first opened in 2006 and I have yet to be disappointed! What I love best about their food is that not only is it delicious, its also pretty healthy! Most of the meats if not all are grilled, and in lieu of rice you can get a green salad. Also, the staff includes the owners, who are beyond friendly and courteous. We live near this restaurant and decided to try it on a whim! I like to give any new restaurant the ole 24 Hour After Test, if you know what I mean...so this review is being written the day after consumption, and all is well in the intestinal areas haha! We ordered the hummus, samosa-like pastries, the chicken stew (chicken in tomatoes) and chicken stewed in yogurt, a nan...and I think that's about it. Wow, this place has great kabob's. Their dinner for four is only 50 bucks and it is so much. Their stews are good, and I had the chicken, lamb and beef kabob which are delicious. The food here is great and so are the prices. I've taken many different people here for lunch or dinner and now even they're hooked.
