I like going to this salon though services are limited to braiding. Prices are good and they are generally fast. Not the neatest but good. I have had weaves done here as well but cuts and curls are ok. My last visit was good. I had a spur of the moment appointment at Mama's and she was very accommodating. The place was lovely, spacious and clean. The ladies are very skilled. There's plenty of hairstyles to choose from which was perfect for me. Because of some health issues, I needed something that would be easy for me to take care of, not interfere with my rest and not too harsh on my scalp. I washed and blow dried my hair before hand and from the moment I arrived it was pretty much let's get started. I was there about four hours, from start to finish, which was perfect for me. There's street parking and strip mall parking directly across the street. Do you have to leave a small deposit and definitely call to verify if you need to bring cash only. I let the reviews fool me. My appt was tonight and this is not the work of a professional braider. It isn't neat, the braids are different lengths, the parting is horrible, and then there's the white residue from whatever she sprayed on it. Smh. I showed her the exact style I wanted (see the last pic) and said "I want it to look like this." She upcharged $50 for human hair ends which was fine. However, the end result only had about 8 scattered strands of curly hair and which looked very sparse compared to what I asked for. She didnt seem to get the true concept of placing the curly hair pieces throughout the length of each braid for added fullness. I showed her a video on how to add curly hair to the braids using a crochet needle and she then tried to charge MORE to add more curls. I told her to take it all out since she offered to take it down if I wasn't happy because NO MAM. I showed her what I wanted MULTIPLE times before we started and she named her price. She did eventually add more curly hair which helped slightly, but it looks raggedy and not curly like the ends. It looks rough to be so fresh. I didn't notice the white residue and sloppy parting until I got home. Otherwise, I wouldn't have paid $350 for this. read more

I will say this .I have been going to Mama Braids for a long time now .. but unfortunately the last time I was there Dec 2 ,2021 I was very disappointed..I had made my appointment ..but upon arrive I was told that someone was going to do my hair ..( another braider ) ..which I did not care for my hair is somewhat short in the back and the braider couldn't braid it .. I had my hair braided at mama's salon by mama a couple days ago. I sent her a picture to show her what I wanted before my appointment. She agreed to do it. The day of the appointment after she had braided almost half of my hair it just didn't feel as if she was doing the style that I requested. I then asked her if she was doing the style that I requested and I showed her the picture again. She then began to tell me that my hair was too short for the style (which was a lie). We then began to go back and forth until she did what I told her. At this point I was not happy with my hair style. The braids were much smaller than I wanted, they were too tight and caused some of my edges to bleed. Once I got home I could really see that the style was not what I requested. I agree with all the people that wrote 1star reviews. She (Mama) is rude, abrasive and over-priced and does not give you what you paid for. I may take her to court because she did not give me the product (style) that I requested and she caused some bleeding and scabs to my edges. I requested a refund from her and she stated that there is No refunds and "God is a judge." She offered nothing and didn't try and resolve the matter. She is a horrible person and she needs customer service training. read more

I have run my own salon for 35+ years before I retired during covid. professionalism is crucial to the experience of the consumer 1st,,. 2nd,, is Being a one of a kind braider.(I will take customer service &decent braider before I take a rude braider who MIGHT.. be above average) I didn't get what I ask for but the braids were decent, when it came time to pay, she had no cash app, Zelle or Venmo like she said Pryor to my arrival. My husband and I had to go out at night looking for an atm. ( she could have cared less about safety) We were visiting. She took no accountability for her aggressive response to our vocalizing discomfort in how she was handling her business. She was rude and she seemed to take 0 responsibility for her actions. Every 1 star rating comment is accurate, I wish I would have read more of these before choosing this braider. im giving 2 stars because her braiding was decent, even though it wasn't what I asked for. read more

The salon is super clean and new, there's plenty parking across the street, and Mama the owner, yes her name is Mama! She is a young woman that is super nice.
