My favorites are the Cookie Monster, cookie butter, and jasmine milk tea. But they're all good! They have a variety of toppings too. The menu also includes milkshakes (using the ice cream flavor of your choice), and also their classic milky bun that first made this chain so popular. The interior is very modern-looking and aesthetically pleasing with trendy signage and plenty of inside seating. No outside seating. The workers are super nice and patient. They offer free fast testers of any flavor you want to try. All Afters locations that I've been to always have a super long line late at night. This location is one of very few businesses in the Orange Circle that are open late, so they're always a long line after 10pm. It goes pretty quickly though. It was in the downtown Main Street in Orange near the traffic circle so parking can be tough if you don't find street parking, but luckily I went later at night so there was plenty of parking even for a sunday. Line was quite long and took a hot second to finally order. It was also a little hot in there which was strange for an ice cream shop. The guy that was working was nice and working at a good pace but the girl who was working that day seemed like she was so miserable lolol she seemed so lifeless when I was checking out - I could barely hear her when she was speaking. I hope she's okay LOL The last time I went to Afters was years ago but at the OG fountain valley location - I remember I loved the milk and cereal and it's still good but a lot grittier than I remembered? Ordered one scoop of Jasmine Milk Tea! You can ask the staff for samples of the ice cream to try, but I only tried two before settling on a flavor. The atmosphere of the store did feel rushed and wanted you to order quickly, but overall a nice experience. Good layout/design of the store with its merchandise and bright lighting. Got to sit inside the store and enjoy the ice cream with friends. The seating is comfortable, even when sitting for a while. Always a fan of mangonada :) this place is very chill and its location is so ideal for a quick ice cream craving for us. I like taking visitors here and it's one of our go to places for ice cream. Service is good too. Most of the time the staff are nice and friendly. However, they seemed to be short staffed when we visited because only one person is there and they were not in the counter when we arrived and we had to wait a bit for them to come out and take our orders. One thing I like about after's though is you can try some flavors before you order especially that some of their flavors are unique to them and could be too sweet so tasting them prior to ordering is a must. I could hear a person coming and going from the back and doing things in the back room, but after five minutes, we just left. Once this came up on our search, we knew we had to go. We LOVE Afters! Highly recommend the cookie monster ice cream in a milky bun with Oreo cookies. Nom..nom..nom. Literally, we get this everytime. The ingredients just goes well. It's perfection! Unfortunately, walking and eating our icecream inside the milky bun can be messy and a daunting task. They do have different flavors and I also tried their Vegan Chocolate. That one I would probably not get again because it did taste like they used some type of coconut sweetening to get that taste. I like the ice cream, there's not much variety but great flavor definitely pricey but it's very rare we go and we don't go out of our way for it. Service is horrible, my husband got the door slammed in his face for asking if they have a restroom.....if you care to know more you can read on. Once we sat down my husband suddenly needed the restroom and he got up to ask but neither of the 2 employees were up front and the employee door was open so my husband stood at the doorway to ask if there was a restroom, to which the employee told him to read the sign and then slammed the door in his. Which is when the other employee appeared at the register. I'm not saying that it may not come off as rude for my husband to stick his head in and ask but there was no one around so who else could ask and the employee could've just said no. After he slammed the door shut in his face he opened it again and then my husband and him said a couple more things to each other until my husband decided to walk away and come back to our son and I. My husband said to let it go because he remembers what it was like to be young and deal with rude customers all day and sometimes you just let it out on someone else. This isn't the first time the service has been bad when we go but nothing like this has ever happened. We ended up just leaving and I was kind of in shock I mean i remember being younger but my husband and I aren't that old either he's 27 I'm 26 and this "young" man as my husband called him was maybe 19-22 I don't know but it is what it is. I'm not looking for anything other than management to take how employees treat customers because while this is the first time we have ever experienced something like this over a simple question like "do you have a restroom" it's not the first time we get attitude at this location. I understand not wanting to be at work and dealing with bad customers I just found it unnecessary to be so rude and slam a door. Mind you I would understand if my husband had entered the room but he was at the doorway just asking. I mainly just wanted to rant about it because afters isn't cheap and it's hard to enjoy when you know every time you step in there you're going to get attitude. This is an interesting place. Plain decor but clean. Fun walk decor helps with great pictures. The service is slow so don't expect to get in and out quickly. Good location and easy to find. One of the things I miss most while quarantine ... is Afters Ice Cream. This Afters is my favorite location. I love that its conveniently located in downtown Orange. You can easily pop in and grab a delicious treat. I like that they have vegan ice cream here and it is actually good. They have their Coco Chocolate which contains no dairy. It is ultra chocolaty for something without milk and has brownie chunks in it. Yum! For their regular ice cream I like their popular Milk & Cereal. So good! The parking here can be tough as it's on the main drag in the circle in orange, a notoriously busy area of Orange County. My friends and I had come for some food across the street and decided to grab some dessert before we left. I ordered a milky bun with chocolate syrup after trying a sample of the chocolate malted milkshake. It was so good. Took a little bit to come I out but it was so waRm and gooey I couldn't have asked for a better milky bun. This location is much more specious than the Fullerton location with an area to sit, hang out and eat Yoo-hoo delicious ice cream withhold having to walk around the circle. Overall and great place. Unlike other ice cream places where they stopped sampling since Covid, this place still allowed sampling which was nice as it's hard to decide amongst the various favors. I think in terms of the quality of the ice cream and unique favors, they were pretty average compared to other ice cream places. Their scopes were generous though as you can see from my photos. The milky bun was great, essentially an ice cream sandwich made of donut. It's really quite a treat biting into a sugary fluffy donut with ice cream inside. Definitely come here to try the milky bun. Stumbled upon this location trying to fing A la Minute Creamery only to find out Afters took over their space. Still perfect since we were on the hunt for ice cream. Perfect addition to the Orange Circle. I've been to their other locations and yup, still just as good. Really nice & clean interior. A good selection of merchandise. Lots of seating. Same great flavors. I used to get the Milky Bun (glazed or plain) but that's a little too much for me now. So I just go for the Milk & Cereal in a cup with Afters flakes for toppings. The Mango Sorbet and the Cookie Monster are a close second. They have movie / character / show inspired flavors for a limited time & when we came it was Rick & Morty's Dark Matter Brownie Batter (WARNING: this makes your lips & tongue black, LOL). And now they have opened a cute shop right in old Town Orange!! Woho!! The place is nice and modern with a couple of tables and long bench to sit and enjoy your ice cream. They even have ice cream themed merchandise (Rick & Morty) like t-shirts and socks that you can purchase and a variety of their pints of ice cream to take home. I have always been a fan of their Cookie Monster and Milk and Cereal which I think are their signature ice cream flavors. They are also known for their infamous milky bun!! Which is a glaze donut ice cream sandwich!! YUM!! You can choose any ice cream flavor and they can make it into a milky bun!! ($5) Its very filling and enough to share!!
