I just simply love everything about the warmth of the sweet bun combined with the chill and creaminess of the ice cream. Afters is famous for having the milky glazed buns & their signature ice cream flavors. People might see Afters so mainstream, but you can't say no when you're offered to go. I've tried most of their flavors & I must say the Jasmine tea is the winner! They have multiple toppings but I believe fruity pebbles goes well with jasmine tea ice cream. This place is pretty small compare to others. Parking is very limited but then again Pasadena doesn't have the best parking. I went on a Friday night, a little before closing & there was no line. Still I think is the best ice cream in Pasadena - although they have multiple locations throughout SoCal. You can get your ice cream in a milky bun (glazed doughnut), on a cone or in a cup. Came here on a Friday night after dinner to get some ice cream. Green St. is one way so you can either park at on the street right before Afters or there's a small parking lot at Afters. However, not many people think there's parking but I just went ahead and parked. Crowd comes and go as seats are limited so you shouldn't have to wait long to get ice cream. We ordered their Milk and Cereal and Cookie Monster. Milk and Cereal tasted creamy with cereal flakes on it. Nice combination of sweet and crunchiness. The Jasmine Milk Tea did taste good though towards the end of the scoop was pushing the sweetness limit for me so I'm glad I got a single scoop rather than a double. Oh my goodness. I love Afters! They may have a line but it always goes quick. Parking can be rough but we never fail to find something on the streets. The space is pretty much all outdoors but they do have tables for you to sit at. They have several options of how you can have your ice cream via a cup, cone, or milky bun. My go-to is the milky bun which is essentially a donut that you can have glazed or non-glazed . . . I go with the glazed option AKA think Krispy Kreme donuts. I love their coffee flavor. It truly tastes like coffee and not sweeten coffee and top it with cinnamon taste crunch. Regardless, they have a ton of options and you're sure to find something you'd enjoy. So after a morning of business, I decided to treat myself to some ice cream at 1:45 in the afternoon on a Monday at a little place called afters on the corner of Chester and Green Street in Pasadena. We walked up to the open front door. All the things like tip jars, napkins, chairs etc were set up ready for the day. There was no one inside so after standing around for 10 minutes thinking perhaps the staff person was indisposed, A few more customers joined me. One woman boldly walked over to another building on the property where the Afters staff person popped her head out and proceeded to bark at us that they were not open until two. I politely told her while your front door is open kind a looks like an invitation to buy ice cream note I had a big grin on my face. She had a angry tone and repeated herself. "oh I told you we're not open until two you can come back then." Her attitude was not inviting. She made it seem like we were imposing on her to want to buy ice cream from her store at $7.25 for two scoops or $8.85 if you want a milky bun w ice cream and topping. The ice cream so rich and creamy the type you can't get at market, it brought me memories from one of my favorite ice cream shops back home. Line could be a little long but i feel like it's worth it. Jasmine Milk Tea ice cream is delicious. Hubby got some mint monster which he loved but I thought it was just ok and the donut/bread he had his ice cream in, for me, was too much bread. I believe it took the flavor out of the ice cream and the donut isn't sweet so there isn't much flavor to it. There's a line that goes fairly fast . Walk up to a small window in a cute old has station set up and place your order. We were lucky and got one the parking spots in their teeny tiny lot of 3 or 4 cars! I suggest you try not to park there and get street parking because this guy in a grey honda got too close to our truck because it was obvious he didn't know how to maneuver the car in tight spots so if you're not a confident driver then do everyone else a favor and don't park in their lot. Double Charged - Completely Melted Ice Cream - Rude Employee - No Resolve... So, I basically just payed $97.50 for 3 pints and 3 single scoops of melted ice cream. No apology. No resolve. The rude employee tells me I'll need to settle it with my bank...even after I showed them the deduction in my account. I've been a happy and loyal customer of Afters Ice Cream in Pasadena, Alhambra and Highland Park for a long time. I couldn't believe how poorly this was handled. And now I'm out $100 bucks for the rest of this three day weekend until Tuesday when my bank opens and I contact them. Sooo yummy! Afters ice cream was my go to dessert spot at least once a week a few years ago when they opened in Alhambra haha. Probably gained so much weight just eating ice cream so often. Definitely spent a ton of money at this place too. Afters is soo good.. their ice cream is so creamy and rich and the flavors are excellent. My favorite is the mint monster and milk&cereal. Also the jasmine is so good too. I don't go as often anymore, only when I'm nearby or really craving ice cream. For the price, I don't think it's worth it, but definitely a nice treat once in a while. This location is also super cute! Looks like a revamped gas station from the past.
