Have been here loads of times now, even before I moved to Hayes Valley. This place has TV galore, fairly priced drinks, and delicious (but not healthy!) food from I think a few local restaurants on the menu! They also put their TV schedule for sporting events online, which is great! I've had the loaded curly fries and loaded tots. My boyfriend has also got the fried chicken sandwich from the bird. BEWARE!!! Check your receipts!! Their drinks are delicious (especially the French Kiwi Juice) and they have a good happy hour! The reason for the 2 stars? They overcharged us. When we tried to correct it, they just insisted they were right. Maybe it's because we bought A LOT of drinks ($300 worth), they thought we'd lost count? But I only had 1 drink and could definitely recall what we ordered. We ended up paying it. It's unfortunate that happened because the service (up until that point) was great. Good food at competitive prices! The menu is limited and rather simple, but I am always impressed by the quality and quantity of food you get for the price (especially in a city like SF). Highly recommend the (spicy) fried chicken sandwich. Of note, you walk in, seat yourself, scan the QR code, order (and pay) online, and then get your food brought to you. Efficient in some ways, but can backfire. The last time I went, the system refused to take my card despite multiple attempts, so I had to stand awkwardly at the bar for a few minutes before someone helped me out. Once I finally had their attention, they were very nice and offered to take the order in-person since the website was not working. However, definitely was a frustrating start to the meal. Pleasantly surprised by this spot! We tried to go to Dobbs bar but it was closed. Heading to another spot down the street, waiting at the stoplight, I turned left and saw a new bar! They had plenty of outside seating with hanging space heaters. Inside there was a whole bar room and a "garden" bar room. I believe the food comes from the old Dobbs bar. The drinks were great. Reasonably priced non HH time. $9 for an Italian white, $12 for the Yuzu 75. Curly fries at $4, nachos at $8 ($)? They had salad, burgers and cauli bites too. Lots of beer options, service is great and prompt. Couldn't be happier to find this new spot in hayes. Hassle free, if you know what I mean, coming out of the pandemic. read more

It's in the name! Afterwork Bar is an awesome place to hang out, especially after work! Stopped by with some coworkers here one Friday afternoon/evening and we definitely enjoyed it. When looking for chill/cheap places to hang around in downtownish area, we came across this place based on their happy hour. They had a nice selection of snack foods ($1 wings too) and a few drinks available. We tried their nachos, loaded tater tots, curly fries, and fried cauliflower. Everything tasted good and was perfect for sharing. The margarita pitcher was good too, not too sweet and was actually pretty strong. Aside from the food, the environment was very friendly, chill, and filled with good vibes/energy. The servers were very attentive and nice. A great place to go - after work! Recently visited to celebrate a colleague's promotion. Our group commandeered two tables for about 12 people. For noshing - TASTY loaded tots (these were my fave - lightly fried and airy, nice ratio of toppings to tots), good wings and nachos, all washed down with pints of beer and cider. They have a full bar and cocktail specials but I stuck with cider for the evening. Noise levels can be high at times so be ready to use your outside voice inside. An order of wings was forgotten but we weren't charged so a minor miss. Besides, playing Jenga with buffalo wing fingers is not the business. The rest of time, service was friendly and accommodating. The bartenders didn't even glance our way and we walked around the entire place about 2 times before we decided to just sit down at a table. Come to realize that you actually seat yourself (?) and then order using a QR code on the table. Fun, modern, trendy-- fits right into Hayes Valley, right? Afterwork Bar was our first venture into the bar scene in this district. Contrary to their name, my friends and I swung by around 8 Saturday evening. Very much felt like I was at an after-work happy hour-- so, Afterwork Bar, you win. For COVID safety purposes, vaccine cards are checked, staff and patrons must wear masks, and hand sanitizer is distributed ceremoniously. Surprisingly had table service for our drinks-- and seeing the other reviews now, it seems like their food's worth a shot. We shared a pitcher of cider. Don't recall the type, but it was moderately-priced, delicious, and perfect for a light-drinking group of 4. NOTE: Music is EXTREMELY LOUD. We tried sitting in their back room with the picnic tables and plants, but the tunes are B L A S T I N. We could barely hear each other over the 2000s throwbacks. But the environment is much more of a watering hole than a dance floor (see: bright lights, sports TVs, and tables galore), so I have no idea what they're going for. Their menu is a collaboration between Super Duper Burgers and The Bird, so the food is BOMB. Beer (4/5): It's just beer, but a pitcher for $20 is not too bad! We squeezed about 5 drinks out of it, so it's a bang for your buck. You can choose from a variety of IPAs, Pilsner, or Modelo. Loaded Fries (5/5): Man, these fries went PERFECTLY with a pitcher of beer. We loved them so much we order the loaded tots right after. It's crispy and crunchy even with the sour cream and melted cheddar on top. And the bacon bits...were *chefs kiss.* Service/Ambiance: Our servers were really nice, checking in on us and bringing everything in a timely manner. We sat outdoors, which had a beer garden/sports bar energy. There are long tables (great for big groups), string lights, and two TVs playing the baseball game. Wow. From start to finish I was impressed. I'mgoing to cut right to the chase. No foreplay here. Spicy fried chicken sandwich was absolutely dynamite. Full transparency: it's from The Bird kitchen, but that just means you are getting that GOOD good. Bun was solid, great structural integrity. Chicken was thigh, thick and a well calculated breading ratio. Spice was perfect. A HINT of scalp sweat, but far from unmanageable. Slaw was fresh and had a great crunch. Pickles seemed to be made in house, fresh, not too salty. OVERALL: this sandwich gets a FIRM 9/10. My only wish was that I had two. Pretty good beer selection, great service, good ambiance, etc. Our server(s) were attentive, gave honest opinions on the food, and were an important part of the experience. WOULD recommend that they sauce their wings with a bit more enthusiasm. If they have the NHL package I'm going to camp here from fall until the end of spring. read more

Came here for the first time and now the last time. I ordered a 2 pours of a liquor, different brands, & they charged me both times for the top shelf which I only had 1 of. When I bought it to their attention, they had to "research" what their rail price was. I'm still waiting for an answer and it took 10-15 minutes to get them to fix it. The curly fries are better at Rally's/Checker's as well. They get 2 stars for the upscale sports bar vibe otherwise it'd be 1 bc at least they have a "top tier" brand of the liquor I prefer. This is a fun enough spot (absolutely great for larger groups) but the only options for food and drinks are the Bird and Super Duper, which are fine, but not so unique.
