My 7 yr old Golden Retriever died on the way to the ER on Christmas and they use Agape for their cremation. My vet clinic I work at also uses them so I know they do a good job but the experience for my own pet made me appreciate them much more. The urn is gorgeous as I knew it would be but as someone who has to make paw prints all the time the paw print they made is top notch. The fur clipping with ink paw print is awesome, and the clay nose print. Having our boy home and with the beautiful set up is bringing some comfort in this difficult time. My service with Lap of Love was amazing. They used this service to cremate my grand pup and the service was fair. I received my dog in a tiny box, I felt there was no way his remains could have all been in this tiny box. I also felt that box was extremely poor quality for the amount of money I paid for the entire service. The name plate fell off as soon as we pulled him out of the box. Delivery service said 1 day service for shipping and it took 4. I did email my disappointment in what I had received and not a word back. Just poor quality overall. Would not recommend unless they let you pick out EVERYTHING. read more

We recently said goodbye to our beloved Louie, our 16 year old sweet Maltese pup. Very emotional, as you can imagine. My experience with Agape was less than ideal and made the passing of my 10 year old rabbit (Angel) much worse than it had to be.   I had wanted to receive back her ashes but ultimately ended up opting for the communal cremation where the ashes are not returned.   My vet uses Agape, and when I took Angel to have her euthanized, they gave me a quote that the starting rate for private cremation and return of ashes was about $232.  It was only a few minutes after putting Angel down that I received Agape's first email advising of the need to choose what I wanted to do with Angel's remains and giving me a deadline of when the information was needed. Besides this, there was  a substantial difference in the rate quoted by the vet's office and the rate provided to me by Agape.  The private cremation rate that Agape quoted for Angel was $309.   It's understood that the vet's office had quoted a starting rate, but Agape's rate was still much more than that, and this is for an animal that weighed less than five pounds.  The day after Angel's passing, I emailed Agape asking about the difference in rates and was advised that the rate is based on the information received from the vet.  This did not explain why there was such a large difference. I also inquired if there would be any difference in rates due to the fact that I had purchased my own urn.  I was advised that the $309 cost quoted was actually just for the cremation, and the urn was complimentary.  So if I opted for a private cremation, I would only have a choice of the limited urns offered by Agape, as opposed to one I had already purchased for Angel, which was a black rabbit as she had been.  It was also unclear how the urns are complimentary.  Is Agape receiving the urns via donation and that's how they are free?   It seems more likely that the cost of the urn is built into the price.  There was no option to have a communal cremation and receive at least some of Angel's ashes back.   There was no option to receive the ashes in a properly sealed bag or other container.  There was no option to pick up the ashes to save on cost.   The email exchanges with the representative took place the day after Angel passed away, and at 5:00 pm that day I received another email, asking what my decision was and reminding me of the deadline.  I sent an email later that evening that I wanted to do the communal cremation.  In another unfortunate turn of events when dealing with Agape, I received a call the next morning inquiring as to what my decision was.  I asked the Agape representative if they had seen the email that I sent the evening before, and they said they had not received it.  I advised they needed to check because I had sent my decision already.  I also advised that the way Agape was handling this situation was making everything worse, including that I was having to explain this over the phone when I had already provided my decision in writing.  I also advised that the prices they were charging were quite high, and way over what had been initially quoted (even as a starting quote), especially for such a small animal.  The Agape representative basically acknowledged nothing and then proceeded to ask if I wanted to pay over the phone or via computer.   I said I would pay via computer and ended the call.  It really just added insult to injury the way everything was handled.  I received a final auto-generated email from Agape advising that they are pet owners too and know how difficult this.  Really?  Agape made this so much more difficult in the way they handled everything.  I would have never chosen Agape if I had been aware of the way they operate their business.  Beware. read more

We lost our best girl dog, Teagan, to cancer on October 24, 2023. To us, it was a shock because it happened so fast with very little warning. Caring Hands Veterinarian services in Rockville, MD helped us through her crossing the Rainbow Bridge. The final step of bringing her cremains back to our home was heartbreaking, but it went very smoothly within a week. The loss is still devastating, but the efficiency and timeliness of Agape Services, along with Caring Hands, helped by having such a difficult process happen without us having to deal with a lot of details during such a hard time for our family. read more

This was my first time using this kind of service. My cat of 16 years, Lillie passed away from renal failure. We called every crematory in a 2 hour radius of Herndon. I didn't want him just thrown in with others. I wanted my cat back. They do offer a group cremation and then spreading in their remembrance garden. I previously wrote a review for this place and gave them 5 stars. I have recommended them to people for years and I know they have used their services because of that. But this time I took my deceased dog to them and the girl who greeted me was less than friendly and I deeply regret leaving my pet there. I was told that the business is now owned by a corporation. I sat there with tears in my eyes after just having my dog die in my arms and she could not have been more cold and uncaring. I was told I could put my pet in the garage and someone would pick him up later. This is not the way things used to be done. They had a little room where you could go in and spend a few minutes saying goodbye. It's hard enough to lose a beloved family member. read more

This month I sadly had to put my cat down, and the ER vet we were at - VRA - provided different cremation services via Valley Pet. I was pleasantly surprised when my cat's ashes and paw print were delivered to my home in half the time estimated (only one week instead of the projected two). I have used their services several times over the many years, they have always charge $20 to add a nameplate to your pets urn. When my last pet, Tigger, was sent to them I added the $20 nameplate, which apparently I have not yet paid for. I just sent to them another one of my pets, Liesel, and called to add a name plate on her as well. I tried to pay over the phone and the lady did not want to take my payment at that time. It is now been two weeks and I called my vet to find out why I have not received her, they called Valley Pet, then called me back to tell me they are holding my cat Liesel because they never received a $20 payment for Tigger. I think that is absolutely absurd that you would hold somebody's precios pet over $20. Not to mention I have not received a phone call from them stating they were holding her until they received payment. When I called them they said they do not reach out to clients. I suggested maybe they should since we spend a lot of money to have our pets cremated. The lady, Marty, that I spoke with didn't seem too concerned that I was upset. I will never ever use them again. I have used the cremation services at Central Carroll Animal Emergency in Westminster, Maryland and whomever they use are awesome. You receive the name plate for free and I do not have to wait a week or more just to receive my pet back. I usually wait two days. I will update this review when I find out what crematory they use. I just ran my mouse over those stars over and over again. How do you put a "star" rating on this kind of service. After all, this isn't a new fav restaurant or a review for poor customer service. On 13 January our beloved Great Dane died. We took him to the emergency vet and he went to Valley Pet Crematory Cemetery. Jasper came home to us last night. We lost a dog in Michigan and she came back in what we referred to as a Big Mac container (styrofoam). No acknowledgement of our loss. Nothing. That is NOT the case with Valley Pet. Jasper came back in a beautiful wood box, with a lovely card & certificate. it was wrapped in bubble wrap to protect him. Thank you for caring for my fur family member with such care. It means the world to us. I hope not to use your service again any time soon but should the need arise, we could know that our beloved family member will be treated with the utmost care. read more

Our beloved cat, Furball's body was cremated at Valley Pet. The ashes came within 2 weeks as the vet said. The urn turned out perfect! However, our cat's paw print keepsake didn't turn out well. It's as if they were in a hurry and took Furball's paw and shoved it into the clay. The impression was deep enough that it created a hole on the other side of the clay mold. This was a member of the family! His paw should've been treated with respect and accurately positioned at the center of the clay mold. To those of you who are planning to have a paw print keepsake of your pet, I suggest that you buy a paw print kit and do the job yourself while your pet is still around. It will be a good memory. I'm not really sure how to write this review, as I didn't interact directly with Valley Pet Crematory, but was rather referred through my vet. My dog of 14 years had to be euthanized due to cancer, and my vet recommended Valley Pet for the private cremation. Having had no experience in anything like that before, I opted for the private cremation which was just over $200 for my 63 lb dog. I was able to pay for everything before leaving my vet's office, and they handled all the details for me. A week later, I received the same thing as what is shown in the other photos.....a lovely mahogany box, which was enclosed inside a green velvet bag inside a protective cardboard box with his name on it. They included a lovely sympathy card, which while I realize was 'generic" as they never knew my dog, it was still a very nice gesture. read more

Our 17 year old cat, Romy, passed the day before thanksgiving this year, We were devastated, and making a call to Valley Pet was a very hard thing to do, but once they picked up the phone, the understanding kind staff made me feel better. I hadn't thought in advance on what I wanted on the engraved plate on our box, and they were kind to hold my order until I could think of something suitable and call them back. We picked up the ashes and the paw print impression this past Saturday, and everything is just as we expected it to be. My beloved Reign ..11 yr old Cane Corso became ill and had to be euthanized. This was the hardest thing that ever had to do. I was given info about Valley Pet from the Humane Society. I called to make the arrangements for a private cremation. The lady that I spoke to explained their services,,pickup,cremation and delivery to the Humane Society. She stated that I would be mailed a invoice for the cost after the services had been rendered. I wanted make sure I had a full understanding of the billing process. Again she said that I would get an invoice in the mail,then return a check or money order. I was told that they are not set up for phone payments. At that time I set up the arrangements,gave my info, then I was asked for a debit or credit card...told my card would be processed once my pet was picked up. I thought I was to be billed.She couldn't explain the change. I did receive an invoice and receipt my card was charged on the 3rd but Reign was picked up on the 9th of January 2017. I called to see when the cremains would be delivered. I was told that the cremains SHOULD have been delivered on Monday this was Friday.I repeated "SHOULD". I called and went to the Humane Society, NO cremains. I was so upset, it was like I lost furry child Reign again. I called Valley Pet again and was told that the cremains would be delivered the following Monday. At no time was I ever offered an apology..During this process no one offered their condolences or gave their name, I had to ask for the name of the lady that told me that Reign's cremains had been delivered it was Lynn and who I made the arrangements with it was Debbie. The staff is very unprofessional,cold and uncaring. The only reason I gave 1 star is because of the beautiful urn. Very,very stressful experience. read more
