Great little hidden gem in nipomo , Burritos are delicious especially the surf and turf burrito, Their Tortas are really good, adding American sliced cheese makes the Torta have an extra bit of flavor. If you haven't tried their surf turf or the Tortas your missing out. read more

Its cheap and fast. I would rather pay an exra 50 cents per item and have free chips and salsa than pay for them. It is awkward to have to ask to buy chips and salsa. I liked their chicken tamale its hard to find a good tamale every day of the week so glad theu sell them. I also tried their chicken enchilada which was ok. Nothing supremely special or standoutish. Beans and rice normal. Service slightly less than normal bit the atmosphere suggests its like fast food so it seems tolerable to have less service. I will eat here again for convenience and cost but not frequently. read more

Wow! Agave Grill's carne asada burritos are the bomb!!! It is my son's absolute most favorite burrito all around. I tried one for the first time tonight and I see what he is talking about! Mediocre. Very quick food. Veggie supreme Nachos were obviously microwaved in the styrofoam container, not cool, and charged the same price as the meat version. When you live in Nipomo and nobody decides to deliver except for Domino's, your expectations tend to be a little low when you call the new Mexican food restaurant that delivers. Maybe since expectations started low, that is why we love this place so much. The food is good! The Chips and salsa are absolutely some of the best I have ever had. Im sad to say we didnt have a great experience at this place. We wanted a take out order. The phone rang and rang, no answer. FINALLY on our fourth attempt someone answered. We figured they were busy. We were told to be there in 15 minutes. We got there in 15 minutes, the place had ONE customer in it. We had to wait ANOTHER 15 minutes to get our food, ONE BURRITO and TWO TACOS, thats it. The food tasted stale and we have now had a stomach ache (both of us) for a full day after eating there. That being said we DONT have sensitive stomachs but this food had something going on that WASNT good. I would never go back. Whoever owns this place might want to see what is going on with their phone service, in store service, and most importantly, the quality or lack thereof of their food. My husband and I enjoy this restaurant very much. They have fresh food, and accommodate my vegetarian preferences. My husband likes their fish tacos and he eats them with the tartar sauce! I guess they try to offer many different options to please everyone. I read some of the negative reviews, and think they are too picky. Restaurants are not your mom's cooking. They don't always know how you like it cooked or served, so you need to communicate your preferences! Being a vegetarian, I learned early on to ask more questions and state my wishes for how things are prepared. At the Agave grill, they have always been willing to prepare the food the way I request. We like their chile rellenos, taco salad, and especially enjoy the vegetarian fajita burritos wet with enchilada sauce on them. read more

They must have a new owner because it has never been this bad before. I have been here many times under this name as well as the old name. The food has been good & the prices very fair until last night. I ordered the shrimp fajitas, a bean burrito, a taco, 1 soft drink and chips because chips were not complimentary. The dinner was $21.00 & this is a place that used to be really reasonable. The chips were $2.00 for a complimentary sized bowl. The salsa was terrible and that should have been a clue. They had run out of ice in the soda machine & had not bothered to replace it despite the lack of customers. Once the food arrived, I noticed there was no guacamole or sour cream on my plate. When I asked about it, I was told it would be $.75 for each and they were tiny portions. I am not sure how you can screw up guacamole but it was the worst I have ever had! The shrimp was so bland I had to add salt just to have some flavor. I did not even notice the plate was missing cheese until i went to build a fajita. .That was extra too. I passed at that point. The plate had rice, beans, the shrimp w/ a few bell peppers & onions and a ton of lettuce with a smattering of diced tomatoes. My mother had ordered a dinner special of 3 hamburger tacos. She said they were the worst tacos she has ever had. My daughter's shredded beef taco was not so great either. The meat was bland.Not the worst I have ever had but in the running. They even messed up refried beans! My other daughter liked her bean burrito but she is 5. I won't talk about the building but it has always been overlooked by locals because the food was good and cheap! As time goes on, it's age (and probably level of cleanliness) is starting to really show. I am not one to be so nit-picky but this was one moment of "how can that be?" (very quickly) to another moment of "SERIOUSLY?!?!" before I realized how many moments there were. The bad food was horrible enough but the stinginess regarding the chips, missing items on the fajita plate which have always been included before, were all enough for me to say never again! SERIOUSLY AMAZING CHILE RELLENOS! My go to yardstick comparison for rating any Mexican Restaurant is their Chile Relleno. Most restaurants pass off chile rellenos with gooey over filled thick cheesy fillings (this isn't lasagna!) and wrap them in ginormis blankets of breaded dough. Usually they are then drowned in some kind of "do you want red or green" chile sauce, immediately reducing the doughy blanket to a soggy mess. YUCK, YUCK & YUCK!!! And, hey, where is the chile pepper???? At Agave Grill, you get the actual, real deal!!! I'm not kidding here. They make the best Chile Relleno you can eat anywhere! These are delicious. Believe me, I've been on a mission, and eaten dozens in hundreds of restaurants. The Chile is the star in this dish. The dough is a thin, light batter that perfectly complements the pepper. Perfect amount of cheese and sauce. TRY IT! You will LOVE IT! read more

It's come a long way since it first became Agave. The food is good, the service is excellent. Living in Nipomo really cuts down on your options insofar as places to eat but Agave Grill is a favorite of ours. Try their shrimp tacos or any of their breakfast burritos. read more

Since writing my initial review i thought it would be fair to make an update. The man who is often cooking and I assume is the owner must have read the reviews or realized the importance of good customer service. The last 3 or 4 times I have been to Agave he has been much more friendly as well as the rest of the staff following his example. I have been here many times and I will say the food is good but I was very disappointed in their service. My 2 kids and I came in and waited literally 35 minutes only to watch them give my kids food to another family that came after us. When I had told the waitress she said that they messed up on our order so she just went ahead and gave the other customer their order. To me that didn't make any sense when they already had my kids food ready, why would they still give to another customer after we have been waiting 35 minutes??? I waited another 5 minutes and went to ask how much longer it would be. They just looked at each other and then I saw my order receipt was placed on the counter and they had no idea how much longer. I get that it was during a busy time but how they handled it was not right. I was able to at least get a refund. You would think that they would have gave a sincere apology or offer some kind compensation for their mistake but they didn't seem the slightest apologetic at all and for that I will not be returning here again. read more
