Stayed in Ajo on an overnight UTV ride - saw this restaurant while coming into town. Very friendly staff and impressive menu. I had the brisket sandwich, and others had blue moon burger, bourbon burger, and a fully loaded baked potato. Full bar, and they will make you anything. Quick, friendly, and great food. two orders took around two hours to arrive. server brought the wrong order and took it back including the fries despite being asked to just take back the sandwich so we could eat something. waited another 15 minutes. food was soggy and not hot and the fry oil needs to be changed because the fries were brown. Server was rude and owner came over and got aggressive telling us that it hadn't been over two hours. We won't be back. read more

Good food, good service. It is one of two or three places to eat in Ajo, which is a tiny town. The border wall job has a bunch of extra people in Lukeville through the end of 2020, (including me) so they get overwhelmed most nights. Wait time, service, and quality can vary because of that, and I still ate there 4 times this week. I wouldn't pay too much attention to some of the more recent negative reviews. I guess the locals are now treated like second class citizens over contractors. I never have high expectations for fast and attentive service here, yet tonight was beyond acceptable. Was ignored when I came in. Sat down at a table after it was cleaned. Waited for a menu. Four other tables with contractors were seated after us. Their orders were taken first. Their food was served and consumed before ours was prepared and served. The waitress took our orders and never checked on us, or seemed to be aware that we were still waiting. Yet, she had plenty of time to BS at the bar with contractors. Sucking up for tips!? Only after we spoke to the owner, did we receive our food - first seated and last served. The orders we're wrong. Waitress argued. Burgers were over cooked and one was exceedingly dry and NOT a good burger. Items added that were not ordered. Times included that were asked to leave off. Not much of an apology. This is second poor dining experience at this location. I rarely have high expectations for fast or attentive service here in general - it does not exist, - yet the food used to be worth it. A few months ago I ordered a steak cooked medium and after an hour wait, received a well done stake. Same waitress - lame apology. Didn't even offer to correct the problem. I wish I had photos, but I can tell you that we didn't have time to take them because it looked so good, we couldn't wait to eat it! My husband grew up in this town and we came down from Phoenix to visit and spend the day. This place is a true gem in Ajo, you must eat here! The waitress was numerous and clever, the owner kept praising how good his cook was, and she is! My friend and I ordered the flautas, not on the menu, but she was making them! The broth they brought us to dip them in was really flavorful. We had two kids, and five adults, they had their hands full with us! One of the kids spilled her drink and this waitress was so kind and instructional with her so she didn't get upset she made a mess. And she made a real mess! The cheese curds and zucchini were amazing, we had ordered some burgers the bread looked incredible. My husband had the club and sometimes the bread is so dry from toasting and even that looked toasted but not rip the roof of your mouth up crunchy. She even left the pitcher of tea! Smart woman! We really enjoyed this place. It was clean, friendly, and good prices for the quality of food they serve. Stopped at this place, and was not impressed at all. Took the waitress several minutes to stop chatting with some other customers, ( who she obviously knew) and acknowledge we were there. When she finally came over, we asked about the specials, but was met with total indifference. We ordered some burgers, and asked if they could be medium done. She adamantly said that was not an option. Subsequently, the burgers came back, well done, chewy and tasteless. The buns were obviously stale, as they crumbled, upon taking a bite. Sides were greasy, but I guess that's to be expected. They probably were frozen before. We also noticed she would quickly get locals, who came in, their usual orders, before us, and we had been there for quite some time, before they came in. Waitress was far from friendly, to say the least, and the food was not tasty at all. We stopped there because it seemed to have an almost a 5 star rating. Not sure how this was achieved, maybe it's gone down since. We will not visit this place again. read more

I've been here twice now and I can't muster more than two stars. It was busy, loud and crowded so we shared a table with a person already eating. The waitress brought us menus and took our order for drinks. Ten minutes later we had no drinks although a recently cleared and reseated table had gotten their drinks and their order was taken. I kept trying to flag down our waitress and finally she came to our table to take our order, still no drinks. Another long wait, maybe 25 minutes, I asked about our order and was told it should be out soon. I asked about our drinks and she apologized and said she would get them right away. Well, I guess getting others refills on wine and more beers was more important. Finally our water arrived along with our food. My burger, ordered medium rare, was so over cooked and dry. I told the waitress about it when she brought us our silverware and I guess it was the manager who came over and told me how hard it is to get good help. No apologies or offers to right the situation. My fries weren't cold but they were not fresh. Visit number two was on Super Bowl Sunday. I ordered wings and a baked potato. Wings were over cooked and dry but the potato was Ok. The manager was too busy watching the game and ignoring the customers. Done with this place! read more

First of all the manager named eric is very rude. I had placed an order to go, and they gave me BBQ instead of BUFFALO, so I called and told the manager eric. He then said, oh no it was buffalo we just checked the bowls they were made in, and kept arguing as if he was the only person that was right. i am the customer! And the customer is always right. I wasn't trying to argue about it just simply stating that those wings were definitely NOT buffalo like he kept insinuating as if they were. I don't understand what was so hard of him to just hear me out about me getting given something that I did not order, that's it. Also, the brisket sandwich always comes with sauce and there was none, but the manager again said "oh you're just used to being served with it, but it doesn't come with it" i will not be returning back to agave grill, and do not recommend it unless you want bad customer service from the manager or being accused of being wrong when it's THEIR fault for giving the wrong order. Agave is doing well because they're almost the only place in town. Lunch and dinner are fine but I'm sooo disappointed that a great breakfast venue was closed last Friday by the owner and the manager of Agave Grill, Mimi's Breakfast restaurant had its own owner and staff who were notified Friday they had to leave. No notices and no warnings were given and jobs are not easy to replace in Ajo. There aren't many options but you might wanna think about who you support. read more

Ok so.....where do I start, let's see.... well the food was great! It was good, the vibe in the place was awesome but my waitress...I'm not a fan, she was rude in my personal opinion. She took like 20 minutes to come back and take our order, I seen her see us waiting so she knew what she was doing, it was not packed at all, literally two more tables in there with people. She had all the time in the world to ask how they are doing but literally ignored our table. She took our order and I asked can you repeat what we ordered so do don't make a mistake and she was just like "I know what you guys got" and repeated it like she didn't want to haha smh....our Order gets back and what do you know my burger had no cheese haha I asked for cheddar and pepper jack on my burger haha I Don't know what her deal is nor will I care, again the food was great I loved it but I know I will not be going there again when Wanda is working.
