Great restaurant for this small community. We actually had lunch and then RETURNED in the evening for dinner. We were joined by friends for dinner. The food is wonderful. The burgers might be some of the best. They season them before making the patties. So every bite you get evenly distributed seasoning. Everything on the menu is crafted in-house. And oh so good. Staff is super friendly. We were fortunate to meet the owner and he was very attentive. The restaurant has been open for six months and for both lunch and dinner they were packed. Best place in Ajo to eat. I had the flounder even though I'd read some poor reviews. The fish was bland but it wasn't overdone. Ask your server to cook it rare as I did. The accompanying onion rings were greasy and over breaded, but then-aren't they always? My wife had the chicken with sweet potato fries. the fries were home made and tasty, and the chicken was also bland like the fish. Portions were average. Both salads had fresh simple ingredients. The margarita was just OK. It took a very long time for our food to come out. It was busy when we came-not sure if that's normal here. I would go again but mainly because you really have so few options in Ajo. read more

I have to give this place 4 stars and not 5 because while the food was good, the Pac-Man machine in the back (next to the casting couch) was broken. My buddy and I were looking forward to the 2 hour drive from Phoenix to go eat and play Pac-man, but unfortunately, we were only able to eat. Another disappointment was the misinformation we received from the waitress (who btw was trying to rizz it up with my buddy but failed) about the "Casino" in Why. She told us it had huge payouts no cap and was definitely worth the trip deadass. So we went there and it was a little dinky casino with no vibes whatsoever. We ended up losing over $5,000 trying to hit it big there due to her advice on the big payouts. So all in all, if you want a good meal, the Agave Grille is the place to go. The Agave Grill reopened a few months ago and seems to be a popular spot! Our group of 10 went there while staying at Organ Pipe Cactus NM. Their drinks were tasty and reasonably priced. I enjoyed an Agave Margarita. Several of us had the Foreman baked potato with a side salad. It's a baked pot with melted cheese, brisket and a sour cream drizzle. Very filling. Horrible service! I ordered 2 veggie burgers and jalapeno poppers. I even pointed to it on the menu while ordering. We got 2 cheeseburgers and no jalapeno poppers. I do understand they are very busy but how can u make this kinda mistake? They were not even apologetic for the wrong order. Fries were almost burnt! I regret stopping here for our Anniversary lunch. New place in town. Plain wrapper grill but clean and friendly. Had the Brisket Sandwich. A bit dry but tasty. Tater salad was unique and very tasty but a bit dry as well. A dash of mayo fixed that. A MUST STOP when heading to/from Rocky Point! I wish this place was closer to Phoenix because we would be regulars. The food is delicious! My wife and our two grandkids went to this restaurant for the very first time ever on Friday I figured since we haven't tried any restaurants out here since we moved out here recently so we decided on Agave Grill when we got there the parking lot was packed so I was assuming it was very very busy but when we got in the restaurant We were able to find a seat for ourselves it wasn't as busy as I thought it was except for a large party going on so we decided what we were going to eat for dinner and our waitress came she was friendly and nice saying she was new to the area as well so she put our orders in and we waited patiently I had ordered a T-bone steak with a salad everyone else ordered sandwiches and burgers and chicken tender and fries The only thing I didn't like about this restaurant as it seems as if we were from another planet or something the owner of the establishment totally ignored us like we weren't even there didn't ask if we needed refills neither did the waitress but that's fine because she was nice it seemed like the owner only recognize people he knew and he was very friendly with them but to know that I Wasn't even acknowledge or my wife and grandkids was pretty shameful of him I was hoping for the best for this restaurant that it would be a great place to come and eat with my family and grandkids but it turned out to be a disaster so as we waited patiently for our food and my salad that came with my T-bone steak I decided it was long enough I was waiting for at least 30 minutes or so for just a salad before the steak so I decided to approach who I thought was a manager of the Restaurant who was also getting out orders to the party he was serving all I wanted to ask him if my Salad was coming soon So he told me rudely that I would have to wait until he was done serving the party that was at the restaurant and explain that I was going to have to wait or if I didn't like that I can go as he was grabbing my arm the whole time So I told him let go of my arm so I decided it's time to leave I would recommend this place to my worst enemy or any family that is in town visiting us so if you want to go to a restaurant where the the owner is rude as well and waiting for your food forever knock yourself out Sincerely very very unhappy customer read more

We understood we had a larger party but had no problem sitting outside and taking care of ourselves. We were prepared for the wait as well. The waitress acted like she didn't even want our business. Kept ignoring us and was very snarky. Argued with us when they made something wrong but could get it corrected due to someone else ordering the same thing. The lady that fixed it was extremely nice about it. The food was decent but not for a two hour wait. We ate there last evening. Horrible service and mediocre food. We stood at the door ignored for several minutes. After we sat down we again were ignored while the two waitresses were chatting it up with other customers. I finally got up and got two menus. Eventually our order was taken. We were hoping for a tasty Mexican meal but couldn't leave once we saw the variety of WINE just sitting there behind the bar! We had a super experience. Everyone working was amazing- sincerely friendly and attentive. So nice. And every person working visiting with us even though we aren't retired and living in a trailor. The food was delicious- and of course we are vegetarians are thus are kind of fussy. Yummy coleslaw, crisp and sweet, sweet potato fries, and homemade veggie burgers on that soft, smooshy bun we all hope for. I'm so disappointed that "Mimi's 4 Breakfast" is no longer offered here. Mimi's food was delicious and she is a consummate host that built up a beautiful breakfast tradition at Agave. I think it's bad business and unethical that Mimi was told on a Friday not to return the following Monday. I'm especially concerned about her two employees who suddenly have no income, without a two week notice. The daytime/evening servers at Agave are awesome. Hoping that in the future our wonderful Ajo workers are treated well. read more

Drove to Ajo, AZ from Goodyear, AZ as a leisurely Sunday drive, read all the possible restaurant reviews in the town before leaving Goodyear, AZ and to our surprise they all had a number of negative reviews, regardless we stopped for lunch at Agave Grill 2. We were a part of 4 and the service and food was very good. After reading some of the reviews we were expecting just OK food and service, but pay no attention to those negative reviews, this restaurant is enjoyable and the food is made from fresh ingrediencies. The place is busy as it's one of only 2 joints in town to eat, unless you want to get some food at the hardware store ( no joke ). Ajo is a really cool little town torn to shreds by the pandemic. Being about the only place to eat the chicken-strips were good but the next night I got the Brisket ( $18.99 ) .. it was good but I have no idea what they mean by 12 oz... more like 1.2 ounces.. This place is just okay, but when you are just one of three restaurants, choices are limited. I have eaten at this spot, several times. The burgers in my opinion are the best things on the menu, and they are reasonably priced, I usually get the Power Outage burger, and it's pretty good, and good spiciness. The other burgers are not bad, but my problem is with the buns....too small and tend to fall apart, and veggies are not that fresh on top of the burger. I have also had the ribs, not good at all taste as if they've been boiled and then grilled, and yet they are still not tender. Now as far sides go, not that good.....well let me rephrase, I've had a few of the sides, the salad wilted as in made last night and placed in fridge for the next day, onion rings heavily breaded and thick undercooked onions inside, fries are cooked earlier and re-cooked again when order is placed, so you know they're greasy and not seasoned. Apologize for the harshness, but could be a good restaurant if time is allowed to prepare, and not that rushed taste.......If you want your burger medium ask for medium rare, all burgers are well done and not by choice. read more

Very good restaurant, and they have a full bar! Service was a little slow, but then we found out there was some sort of banquet on the patio, so that considered, the service was good. The food was excellent. They don't have a big menu, which is good, in my opinion, because what they do, they do well. We both had a burger, which was done perfectly, AND the patties were hand made rather than pre-formed from some suppler. The meat was very good and the additions (mushrooms, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle and onion for me, and avocado, lettuce and tomato for the wife) were nice and fresh. So glad I stopped before finding my hotel.. they close at eight!?! Super friendly staff.. I'll be back on my next time through. We chose this place on the way to rocky point to have lunch because of so many positive reviews on yelp. However, in jealous of those people with 5 stars, we walked in and didnt know whether to seat ourselves or what. After a few minutes we got seated at a table. We we're kinda in a hurry so we quickly got our waters/drinks and ordered food ( of course they were out of the brisket, which was my daughters first choice). One of the waitresses was very nice and funny, while ours had to personality and rarely checked on our drinks. After waiting for about 45 minutes and watching to go orders and people that arrived before us orders come out smoothly I reached my boiling point... The waitress saw me staring at her and got the hint. She yelled in the back and asked for our food because I was looking angry... About 10 more minutes and our food came out. We happened upon Agave Grill by accident but it was absolutely delicious! Generous portions, great flavor. Had the bacon cheeseburger with avocado, friends ordered wings and jalapeño poppers. It was so good we had it eaten before remembering to take pictures. So good! The food came out hot and quickly. The open kitchen and clean feel of the dining room help guests feel comfortable.
