My husband and I had such a great experience. Our server, Sandry, was wonderful from the moment we arrived. She greeted us warmly, took great care of us, and gave us some excellent recommendations. We had agreed beforehand that we would only order appetizers because we didn't want to leave feeling overly full. In the end, we shared several dishes. The beef tartare was absolutely delicious and definitely the highlight of the meal. The Hamachi Tiradito wasn't really our favorite, but that's just a matter of personal taste. We also enjoyed the Spring Wedge,Garlic shrimp, and Chicken Liver Mousse. Everything was fresh, well-prepared, and perfect for sharing. The Flan for dessert was fantastic and a great way to finish our dinner. What made the experience special was the combination of delicious food and genuinely attentive service. I have mixed feelings about the Palace restaurant. It's a cute place but the smell inside is really overpowering. We had to sit outside because none of us were comfortable with that The menu is not bad. I shared a Palace burger with my friend, and both of us agreed that the smoked Gouda on top of it gave it a strange taste. The beet salad was good. Other friend had the chicken livers appetizer and he liked it a lot. None of us liked the non-alcoholic beer choice. We think that there should be more options as the one on menu tasted terrible. Came here for the happy hour as I was wanting oysters. It was a cute place that surprised me. It had a speakeasy vibe and was cute! Upon entry we were greeted immediately and brought to a table. Our server took our drink orders and checked in. We ordered a few oysters (chef choice for HH) along with the Mac and cheese and steak tartare. The steak tartare was the winner. It came accompanied with bone marrow. It would have been even better if it had come with crostinis or grilled bread. The chips were not enough. We'll be back to try more items on the menu. read more

I stopped in kind of by accident when I was wandering around on Easter. There are all sorts of restaurants that I like around the Plaza, but I was looking for something different than my usual haunts. Stepping into the restaurant, it's dark and modern, definitely not what I was expecting in a good way. They had a special prix fixe menu, so I can't evaluate the regular menu, but everything I had was tasty and beautiful. The bar program is exceptional--because it was a little slow since it was late in the afternoon, one of the staff was training another staff person on the cocktail menu. It was interesting to eavesdrop--the training was top notch. All in all, a nice little oasis. read more

It's been a decade since we last ate at the Palace, but we wanted to try it again during Restaurant Week. Overall, my wife and I enjoyed our meal, the ambience, and the superb service. Most items on the fixed menu can be ordered from the standard menu at any time; the Steak and Frites was apparently a special for restaurant week. We started off with Garlic Shrimp and the HUITLACOCHE TAMAL. Of the two, I thought the Shrimp was a better choice, but I wish it had more garlic (not really detectable), and I didn't find any Neuske's bacon. But the shrimp was very good, and the creamy cheddar Parmesan polenta was outstanding. Huitlacoche Tamal was new for us. I looked it up on the site and read, " Often referred to as 'Mexican truffles,' this earthy, smoky fungus is highly prized for its unique, intense flavor." Well, this Tamal was nice, but I didn't find the flavor as unique or intense as before. I liked the dish, it's lovely to look at (see my pic), but I was a bit underwhelmed. For mains, we ordered the steak special and the Dock Confit with Mole. We both love mole and always order it when we see it on a restaurant menu we're new to. The duck and the mole here were outstanding! I highly recommend this dish. If you are a mole fan, you'll like the mole served here (it's a negra mole and it was delightful). It was served with wonderful gnocchi that soaked up the mole so well. The accompanying sweet potatoes were also very good. I ordered the steak frites, the frites being "Parmesan fries", and they were very good. I asked for the steak med-rare, and it was perfectly cooked, not easy on a cut that is rather thin, like a skirt steak. The flavor was delicious, and it was very juicy, but I'm not sure Skirt Steak was the best cut for this dish. This cut is known for its chewy texture, which our neighbor, who also ordered it, said was 'tough'. Indeed, this is a far cry from anything like tenderloin or even a great ribeye. I loved the flavor but didn't love the texture. Perhaps this cut was used to make the restaurant's 3-course meal very reasonably priced at $55. The Palace offers Steak Au Poivre, a 6-oz filet that alone costs $55, so I can understand the substitution. Overall, I did enjoy the dish, but I will probably pass on a stand-alone Skirt Steak in the future. For dessert, we tried the Flan and the Chocolate Budino. The flan was my favorite. I'm rather picky about flan, and this town has so many Restaurants that serve it. At Palace, the texture was perfect, the flavor spot on. My wife loved the Budion, I thought it was too sweet. I also didn't think the chocolate used was ideal, complex enough to be the dessert's main star. Service was outstanding! Our server was Cree. The entire team at Palace did a great job, and I really like the overall feel of the restaurant, the vibe. It isn't pretentious, but it is still fine dining. The ambience is quiet, the booths comfortable, and my wife and I will absolutely return. read more

We dined at this restaurant after one of the evening concerts during the Santa Fe Music Festival. It was later around 8P so there were very few diners in the place. We were seated and it was apparent that one server was working as it took awhile to get water and drinks. At one point the manager came over and said he would check on the drink status. We ordered food to share; a spinach salad, milk bread rolls, and cacio e pepe. All the food was good and nicely prepared. The manager insisted on giving us a complimentary dessert, but we declined. He apologized for the wait and said that it was the server's first night. If someone is new to a job it seems like he should be given more help. A nice dark restaurant with bar. We slipped in just after Happy Hour on our 'Lets test Sante Fe cocktails'. We had the House Old Fashioned, rye (hurray) and urapan mexican rum, demerara, bitters, and mole. It was delicious butnot a natural pairing for us however the rum was mellow. $15 We tested the chawanmushi, an adventurous experimental number from the chef. It's a savory steamed egg custard dish seasoned with mirin and soy sauce (just a little) and topped with shitake and salmon or trout roe. It was very tasty but the custard was too runny. I thought maybe the chef might come and see if we liked it as it was new but nope. $17 for this small appetizer, it should have been perfect. read more

Went for RW to try this place for the first time. Sort of hidden away on Palace, never noticed it before. Nice, cozy, old school vibe. They had a RW deal of $55 dinner pp, 3 courses. Portions were generous despite the lower price. The place filled to capacity even though it was mid-week. Lovely Maitre D. Service was fine except I really dislike being addressed with sweet nothings by staff, in this case, "my love" (what?!) I get that we want everyone to feel welcome like family, but no. The most important piece - the food, was ok, not great. The skirt steak was tough and chewy. Surprising for a former steakhouse. The risotto was drowned in butter and wow-level salty. Shame, almost a really good dish. Other dishes lacked salt at all. No salt/pepper on the tables which is common but bold when the kitchen is inconsistent. Love this super cute and posh spot! We sat at the bar to grab some drinks and foods. The bartender was super nice and accommodating of everything. I always try crab cakes when I go places and it was really good, the sauces and caviar was just the cherry on top! The burger was yummy and the fries were perfect. I had a great meal there last night. The spicier version of a margarita they offered (cant recall the name) had habanero and just enough bite to feel it without forcing you to chase it with water. The feta and beet salad was lovely and then the duck was amazing--crispy skin but cooked medium and tender underneath with great flavors on the plate. The Turley zinfandel complemented it nicely. We were far away from home and chose this restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Very good choice! They were so attentive, and recognized our anniversary with a little spritz drink. I ordered the schnitzel and my hubby ordered the lamb. Everything was delicious!! Here's the best part; toward the end of our meal and tiny fly landed in our brussel sprouts and a waiter happened to walk by while we were discussing it. He brought it to the attention of our waitress, and although we did not ask for a credit, she quickly offered one. This had nothing to do with their kitchen, and we were grateful. Made a reservation 2 weeks in advance and this place didn't disappoint on our visit tonite. Our hostess seated us and we were promptly met by the sommelier with a wine list---nice touch with some recommendations. We were mostly cocktail drinkers...call and premium Manhattans and Old Fashioneds (very well done) and one lone wine drinker---Ken Wright Pinot Noir was a good tried and true Pinot that went with most anything. Server was super knowledgeable of the menu and the food entrée preparations--did not miss a beat! We all had apps or salads...butternut squash bisque, Caesar, and a serving of liver mousse. Very nice preps and excellent flavor. For entrees we ordered the swordfish, Cassoulet, the Chicken Quarter and Squid ink pasta. Eclectic with tons of flavor, cool presentations---all great choices. Skipping a second cocktail, everyone decided to order 2 desserts...the Chess Pie and the chocolate mousse cake with salted caramel ice cream. Once again, flavorful and well executed...totally on point from the kitchen tonite! I was a little skeptical at first coming here. Sometimes this "higher end" steakhouses are a rip off. But this was a great meal. Justifying a $75 New York strip is tough, especially coming from NY where a good strip is 45-55. But these guys pulled it off. Santa Fe has a plethora of fine dining options and Palace Prime is a wonderful example. Not far from the Plaza, Palace Prime has a dark, 70s Vegas vibe but with a modern and enticing menu of meat and fish offerings. We visited on a Friday evening and was able to squeeze into a couple of outdoor seats as a large group had reserved most of the interior tables. We were presented with a basket of fresh bread to start before we tucked into the light and delicious crab bruschetta appetizer. We also enjoyed a well-done platter of seasoned, roasted Brussels-sprouts topped with picked red onion strings. The Caesar salad was spot on; the wedge salad was of a deconstructed variety but still fresh and tasty. Our main entree consisted of a Berkshire pork loin chop served with green Chile Mac and cheese and sautéed spinach. Chef delivered on all points with this dish, beautifully carmelized in a glaze yet incredibly juicy and fork tender inside. I found myself gnawing at the bone towards the end of the meal not wanting to leave anything on the plate. I've also sat at the bar inside in the past and Palace has an extensive menu of craft cocktails that are as beautiful as they are refreshing with a generous pour of liquor. The staff is great too-you gotta love Tess-as they are kind and accommodating. Tess even helped us get reservations at another great restaurant one night. Highly recommended. read more

Well... the food is delicious; however it is OVERPRICED for what you get. The Caesar Salad was 6 small romaine leaves, a few anchovies and 6 croutons for $16.00. Worth maybe $10. We got the burger; the meat was delicious, however, for $28.00 it could have been a larger patty or two thinner patties; worth about $16.00; the fries were not even kitchen cut and fried. They were frozen. First of all, we bought tickets to see the jazz show last night, featuring well known bass player Rodney Bowe who did not play, and it was advertised he would be. Please update your ticket buyers when changes are made for the entertainment!!! The bass player we met was great. However, we paid $25/ticket - $5.00 more than December tickets; and we had to order something from the menu this time. If you are going to make us do all that; keep in mind, locals want to support locals, and you are making it prohibitive when your establish needs locals during the slowest tourist month. Last time we were at Palace Prime in 2022, it wasn't great to be frank. After some friend went there a couple of weeks ago and loved it, we decided to try it again. Very happy we did! One of the best meals we have had in a long time and we have had a lot of really good meals :) To start, the staff was amazing. Typical Santa Fe in which everyone was great and nice and did a great job ensuring we had a wonderful experience. One of the reasons why I love living here! Now to the food. I had the Filet Mignon and it was spectacular. My spouse had the Ribeye and it was also great. The duck fat potatoes were sinful. My only complaint was that I ordered the wrong drink but I think that was my fault lolol. We live in a city with many great restaurants and Palace Prime fits right in. read more

Food wasn't very good to say the least. I didn't enjoy it. Portion was small and taste overall was not the best. The service was horrific. It was fast, but our waiter was an absolute disaster. For starters a member in our party had coughed at the beginning of the meal. She immediately jumped back in disgust. We found this to be an Eccentric choice, but let it go. Through the meal she kept making snide comments on another member who is 11 years old, calling him "little guy" and the "baby".
