So glad I finally got to check out Agave! This Mexican restaurant specializes in the basics done well. Enchiladas, burritos, guacamole you get the point. Nothing special but attention and detail put into each one. They also have a tequila menu with over 200 blanco, repasado, and anejo varieties and flexibility on making cocktails with any. I appreciated being served fresh tortilla chips and homemade salsa with a bit of a kick immediately upon arrival. I enjoyed a repasado skinny margarita and guacamole. I had the burrito but wasn't feeling the tortilla so the kitchen made me a bowl with all the ingredients which was lovely. Not strong in unique flavors but all went well together. Valet is mandatory but complimentary and reservations are highly required! There also is a little bar scene with a TV which could be fun on a weeknight. read more

I love this place, so when I had friends in from out of town I picked this place first. FYI, you can and should get reservations on Open Table, they fill up quickly on weekends. We tried: Queso fundido - this was great but they served it with chips. A thick cheese like this is better with tortillas. Meat loaf - this is one of my favorite entrees. Man they know how to put fuse great flavors together. Spicy margarita - this wasn't my favorite, i'll pass on it next time. Strawberry margarita- this was a better pick but it was so sweet, again not something I'll try again I'd say their best drink by far is the classic margarita, they know how to make the original the best. They were too lumpy for my liking and had a flavor that I didn't care for. I had a peach tree margarita that was delicious, but did not pack the punch that any drink with tequila should. When I first saw Agave driving to the airport I knew it had great possibilities. Two days later I returned with my daughter for Sunday evening dinner. The room transported me to Santa Fe and the cutting edge of Southwest Cuisine. A cup of Hatches chile in a beef stew opened my taste buds, as good as it can be. My daughter had pan seared wild caught salmon. My taste took me to fresh jumbo shrimp, andouille sausage in a hatch chile sauce so good. The room is bright in sound, the patrons are happy, the bar is the one you have always looked for. Then key lime pie oh did I mention the key lime pie? An oasis on a steamy Atlanta night. Kim greeted us at the door and immediately made everyone feel at home. Jordan was our server and she was extraordinary! She knows her craft well and added to the ambience and vibe of our group, melding it perfectly with the rest of the restaurant. Chef Jack made us feel like superstars. Everyone raved about their meals. Lots of folks opted for the double lobster tail special and it was fabulous by all accounts. The signature fried chicken dish was well received, and all the desserts put smiles on faces. The collards side dish MIGHT have stole the night. I know that sounds weird, but they were amazing! Really nice restaurant. A nice date spot and actually that night I was there someone was getting engaged. The food was tasty and the deserts are super sweet. The fireplace in the restaurant keeps the areas nice a warm but not too hot. The bar was busy with a lot of people but it appeared that everyone were enjoying themselves. If I could give this place 20 stars I would. From the beginning to the end it was top notch service. When you pull up the restaurant offers a complimentary valet . Although it was a busy Saturday it was still a very smooth process, going and coming . We made reservations and when we go there we were seated immediately. I didn't get our waitress name but she was very knowledgeable of the menu and offers amazing suggestions. Everything was so delicious. I was a little lost with all the tequila bottles all around the room and very dim lighting. Service was great very tentative and friendly! I really love Agave. They are not lying when they say they are an eclectic eatery. I've eaten here on multiple occasions and they never seem to disappoint. What I enjoy most is they have such a large menu I'm a pescatarian and most places think because you don't eat meat you don't eat anything. Not Agave, in fact not only do they have multiple fish options they have an entire vegan side to their menu. Also, did I mention their drinks are good AF. Such an excellent meal - the only issue was trying to pick just one entree from the menu! They accommodated our group of 8 and provided excellent service. Every dish was excellent and the owner came over and said hello and was so friendly. We had the fried chicken, shrimp and grits, flat iron, calamari, and so much more. My oooonly concern was the parking..... it was kind of difficult to park we had to valet Park because the self parking parking lot was full. Other than I'd give it five stars. I liked the fact, the chips came out fresh and hot.. Our server I forgot her name was very hospitable and knowledgeable about the menu and drink options. Everything was reasonably priced and all seemed so taste test worthy. So we decided on the stuffed trout and Lamb Chops both were delicious and seasoned well. The margaritas were on point as well. I wish they were a little larger,but were still great. We tried the Mango and Passion fruit. The taste was almost similar, but I preferred the passion fruit better. My sorority sisters and I had a meeting gathering here and the experience was pretty good. I appreciated the fact that Agave didn't make us wait for our entire party to arrive before seating, a practice many Atlanta restaurants use and can be annoying sometimes. Even though they are located in a cut, they have free valet in their own private lot, which is great, considering space is at a premium in Atlanta nowadays. The staff kept our chips and salsa full during our visit. The food came out quickly and did not disappoint. I enjoyed their guacamole and the chile and lime fish tacos. I was enthralled by the menu, it looks creative and very delicious. The burrito I ordered came wet and mushy. The flavor was nice but it fell apart and was a mess to eat. The salad was nice, traveled well since it was just salad. The egg rolls were mushy, not crispy as I expected and they were suppose to have shrimp But the shrimp must of ran away, I didn't taste any. Had a great night here for a birthday celebration with a few friends. The food and service was great. Only issue was that there was a used glass at the table (drink residue was still on it). I set it aside to let the waiter know about it. The waiter came around to pour some water, and my friend pointed out that he pouring it into the used glass (I didn't catch it, because I was in a deep conversation). The waiter said that he'd replace the glass, but never did. Aside from that, it was a great experience. I ordered the Southwestern Shrimp & Poblano Spring Rolls as a starter, the Veal Chorizo & Hatch Green Chile Meatloaf for the entree, a chocolate martini, and I ended it with a Pumpkin Praline Cheesecake for dessert.
