We came in after 7 on our second stop after our Juneteenth celebrations. There were a few people there. They had a dj who was good but could use some discernment on changing songs when people are vibing to it, to another song with less tempo and vibes. There seemed to be one server and she was doing it all it seemed poor thing, which equaled to slow service. She was pleasant and did not appear overwhelmed. They didn't have the mixers to make a lemon drop or too much anything I wanted so I didn't order a drink except water. They list liquor on their website so I thought it would be a good place for me and my husband since I don't drink beer but he does. They also list wine. They only had 1 wine available, which was a can of Stella Rosa Black. My husband called it soda lol. It was 5% alcohol, in line with the seltzers they have. I started to get one as they had some flavors I might like but I thought we were hitting another spot and wanted to save my alcohol limit on something I really wanted. I'm not sure if I'll be back to try it though. I ordered the jerk chicken egg rolls. I liked them, my husband not so much. They are not spicy which suited me fine and I asked before ordering them the spice level. The sauce that comes with it really adds the jerk flavor, not spice. They came out piping hot. I would order them again if we returned. This next oops was on me. I saw they had oysters, but didn't check to see if they had raw oysters, which my husband loves. They have a variety of baked oysters and some fried ones. I like them chargrilled so that didn't work for me either. As they say, reading is fundamental. Had I done my homework we probably wouldn't have stopped in last night. But I wanted to support black owned businesses on Juneteenth. I hope they make it as they're the only black owned brewery in Atlanta as noted on their website. There's parking around the corner. The restaurant as I could see was clean. The wine and beer lists are diverse, with something for every taste. I had the sweet red and I really enjoyed it; If I wasn't heading out of town the following day I would've purchased a bottle of it. There are a few tv's throughout for watching sports and they have an outside space for game play as well. Food and drinks My wife and I are definitely oyster people, so when we saw there was an oyster quad it was an immediate yes. We got the butter garlic, smoked gouda, Rockefeller, and the shrimp boss. They were all large and stuffed, exactly like I like it. Service Everyone was friendly each time I went and it did not take long for our food to come out, even with there being a little bit of a crowd the second time I was there. Hippin hops is such a hidden gem. It's been around for a bit but under new management since I've last come around. LaMont is an attentive owner who is very knowledgeable about the business he runs. I came in for happy hour and he was willing to give me suggestions and answer any questions I had. The oysters are the star of the menu! I decided to go with the Ultimate Trio sampler with the bottom of the bayou, shrimp boss, and crawdaddy as my selections. They were amazing! Was craving crawfish and I didn't want a seafood boil or any crawfish in the shell as a whole, so a quick search brought me here. Cajun crawfish egg rolls sounded intriguing, so I ordered two orders since they only come with two egg rolls, but they also looked smaller than they actually were. Apparently they have a Happy hour even though it's not well advertised... Meaning that they don't have flyers up or any kind of notation on their tables that there's a happy hour going on and it's not on their website. But as it turns out their beers and seltzer were all half price and their appetizers. The appetizers are pretty hefty and price for what you get but if you look at their main entrees they are really a terrific deal relatively. 17 bucks for fried fish and grits which was filling and delicious, compared to $15 for four shrimp or $18 for five oysters. They make the food on site which is not that common for a little microbrews. Everything was hot and fresh. They had one server who was hustling and doing a great job, and one bartender. The place was not very crowded given they had a happy hour. Because they don't do very good job of marketing and they have such high priced food. Not the kind of place that people hang out at. I was there for a group event so there was about 15 of us and we had no problem finding tables together. There is one couple where the woman was a loud talker, And I guess the high ceilings really amplified it cuz it was hard for our group to hear our speaker over her trying not to be super loud for the rest of the people. I had to send it back. The food is pretty good, but way overpriced. I had a $20 catfish po boy. The fish was nicely cooked and well seasoned. Nothing mind blowing. The fries were definitely frozen. Tried a new spot tonight and i have mixed reviews. This review is based on an abnormality. GAME NIGHT. FIRST OF ALL, let me say that Sh'ray is the best. His attentiveness was outstanding taking into consideration that he was working tables and the bar with a packed house. He truly exemplified great customer service and grace under pressure. We had the Quad including the collardfeller, the boss, the Philly cheese, bottom of the bayou. All were great but the boss and the collardfeller (with hot sauce) are top tier. We also had the salmon bites w/fries and the flounder with cilantro rice. The salmon bites were not seasoned at all but the sauce that accompanied them added the needed flavor. The fries were pretty good and hot. The trout was delicious (and a huge portion) and the rice was a much needed reprieve from the fried feast. The frozen brew was great and helped to cool our pallets. The time that it took for our food was the biggest issue. Again, I have to charge it to the fact that it was game night (of which we were not aware) and only 1 or 2 chefs in the kitchen, I still give this place a thumbs up. So I ventured out into east Atlanta village and found this spot. I am not a super big beer fan but I love oysters. The ambiance is very chill and vibey. You can sit at the bar, high tables or regular bench style tables. They have large variety of beers. I opted for a sweet flight of beers. Peachy Panther (Lager) - This would be my go to with got wings or something spicy. Reminds me of a Michelob. Very smooth tasting. Birkinz Seltzer (GA Peach) - This reminds me of a nice wine cooler with a kick. It's very smooth and pleasant. I would say this is my #1. Baby Momma Drama (IPA) - This beer is smooth as well with a peculiar taste. It's a little strong for me. But on a hot day at the beach or pool, I could see myself drinking it. So Peachy (For the Girls) - This is a kick up to a Mike and Ike wine cooler. Sour peaches with a kick. Very nice, this would be my #2. It took us a while to find parking giving the day and time so would recommend allotting extra time to find street/lot parking or just ride-sharing there. My husband and I loved the very relaxed vibe of the brewery. It is on the smaller side but it's nice that it did not feel cramped. There was pretty good open seating at either the bar or open space. We attempted to sit outside but the location of the outdoor seating was a bit cramped so we opted for bar area seating. We both had shrimp po'boy entrees that were great in flavor and portion. Just was not a super fan of the bread as it was on the garlicky toast taste side. We also had the spread of The Boss Oysters which tasted AMAZING! The sandwich was $15 and didn't come with fries (fries cost $6). The catfish and grits at the same price was a better deal. Our meals didn't come out at the same time which is no big deal but is a little awkward. Our server added an extra filet as comp. Service was good. The oyster craving my daughter and I had was satisfied by a nice platter of raw ones. They were accompanied by horse radish, cocktail sauce, hot sauce and lemons. For our entrees we had the shrimp and grits and a lobster roll. My daughter's lobster roll was a decent portion and well seasoned. I enjoyed my shrimp and grits, but do wish more of the savory sauce was provided to penetrate the entire bowl. I paired my meal with the So Peachy beer. Although it's sub was listed as peach cobbler sour it had a great taste that was not sour like the Baby Mama Guava I sampled. Tried several other samples, including the slushees, before settling on the So Peachy. As mentioned, a thoroughly enjoyable experience and will return during the warmer months to experience the adjacent outdoor area. I'm an IPA girl, but have tried the other beers they have to offer and have not been disappointed. Not only are they a brewery, but also an oyster bar. If you're not in the mood for oysters, they also have a full food menu with other seafood options.
