Came here to try the food before they close permanently on Jan.31st. I was able to grab a seat at the bar after waiting about 20mins. I ordered the scallops with collards and grits. Everything was delicious. Sad to see them go.

Agave was a lovely surprise. My friends and I popped in on a Friday night, 30 min before they closed. I was nervous that the food wouldn't be good or they would rush us but my experience was the complete opposite. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. I ordered the crawfish pasta and OMG it was so good! I also gave the bartender full creative control on crafting a mocktail and she did not disappoint. I will definitely go back to check out additional menu items.

This is the last time we'll be able to enjoy Agave but everything was wonderful! The swordfish special with mashed potato and broccolini. The garlic spinach was so tasty. Shrimp egg rolls, street corn and cesar salad! Everything was so tasty! I had a very well mixed old fashion. I hope the owners will find a way to open a new place/concept and continue the wonderful service, atmosphere and food that we've grown to love!!!

I love the spot. I am so disappointed it's going to close soon so I went back and visited it. This time I tried the mussels and the tuna tartar and both are excellent dishes. Do check it out before they close for Good.

I've been to this restaurant a couple of years ago it's been a minute. I live in the area not to far from here now maybe like 15 minutes so I had to go back here and try something I didn't have before from here. First time I visited I got the Cayenne chicken with the mashed potatoes. It's vallet parking here and the food is delicious and it's a bar for those who want to drink. I got the shrimp rolls and a fried lobster tail and street corn and I received the complentary chips with salsa. I also got the chef's strawberry cheesecake and I tried the chocolate mousse for dessert. I ate some food for dinner and I saved the rest for breakfast on 1-2-2026. Pull up and check them out. Sadly they are closing on 1-31-2026.

I've been coming here for 25 years on and off and recently started back. The restaurant was slammed and Justin did a great job putting up with us! Everything was 10/10. Solid authentic restaurant with amazing margaritas. Sad to see them go!

The restaurant was great. The ambiance was fun and romantic. The food was good. I had the chicken soup and the gulf shrimp. The service was top notch. I came in with some friends. It was the restaurant 25th anniversary.

It's been once three years since I've been in Georgia. I have always wanted to try this place. Never thought I could afford it. Today I had dinner with one of my friends from my neighborhood and it was a lovely experience. Let's start with complementary valet and a warm welcome when I walked in. There are three cool rooms in this establishment one with the Bar and two other ones to Jason for dining. We were in the flat room which was nice and cozy. The atmosphere was lively and everyone seems to be out. All the plates came out quick and the food looks amazing. I ordered the Caesar salad that I've been craving and haven't found a good one yet for now and the quesadilla. The Dino sitting suggested the blunt orange margarita Which sounded delicious, but it lacked luster. Very watery and barely taste it like a margarita. I should've stuck with my traditional margarita or just a couple shots tequila instead. All the food was yummy ! Our servers name I can't remember maybe her name is Brianna ? She was amazing. Food came out fast. The quesadillas for room temperature, but yet delicious. The homemade hot sauce was Tasty not very hot at all. An overall great experience !! Next time I will definitely try that fried chicken. It looks amazing. I just wasn't hungry enough!

Agave Restaurant is located in Cabbage Town at 242 Blvd SE Atlanta, GA 30312 This is a family owner established. On 7/6/2024 Health Score is 89 = B Our servers were Anderson and Helena they both were very, very, very welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. We ordered the Watermelon Margarita, the Enchiladas and the Rio Grande Burrito. The food was seasoned well and so delicious. The presentation was also very nice. The restaurant ambiance was a little dark for me. But the overall vibe offered music piping through the speakers and a cozy feeling. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to my family and friends. It's was the Rio Grande Burrito for me.

The hidden gem of cabbagetown! I really should make a weekly reservation at this point. The food is so ridiculously good. Chips and salsa come but don't fill up... save room for dinner. The enchiladas are the same price as a burrito at any local chain... so it's a no brainer for us! And service is always so friendly. And personal. You leave feeling like family. The outside front is great for a cocktail (car and people watching). i wish they'd have dinner service on those patio tables!!! Oh and the spicy pb pie isn't overly spicy and a great dessert selection!

Dinner with friends for a birthday and it's a Saturday night. Luckily we have a reservation and we are sat right away! Chips and salsa to start and I enjoyed my Peachtree Margarita! There were 9 of us and our server, James, took care of us well! Ask for him! Almost all of us got the Medallions - but all a little different! It was quite tasty and those onion rings - those alone should be a side or an app, YUM! We also got the dessert sampler (we were celebrating a birthday after all)! And it was so good! I would take the strawberry compote from the cheesecake and put it on the peanut butter pie - DEEEEELICIOUS! Highly recommend!

Agave has been one of myfavorite spots for a while. They fell off for a bit; I had two not-so-great experiences there, but after some time, I tried them again. I was quite excited and hopeful for a great experience.  The service was good, and the vibe of the place is always cozy and warm. The chips and salsa were good. I ordered the chicken dish with macaroni and cheese and collard greens. I also had the fried lobster tail as an appetizer. I also tried the street corn, not the cob. The fried lobster tail was amazing. It was seasoned so well and fried perfectly. The collard greens and macaroni and cheese were pretty good too. The chicken was fried well, but it did lack flavor. All that flavor that was packed into the lobster tail just for the chicken to lack at least half as much flavor That was really the only disappointment; I wish the chicken carried more flavor, but it was fried well and a nice size.

Ask the Community - Agave Restaurant

Hi! Is takeout available this weekend?

Sorry, no. We have decided to solely focus on the sold out restaurant as our small kitchen can’t handle both in the final two days.

I forgot to book a reservation? Do we HAVE to have one for a party of 4? Hoping to get in once more before they close.

Yes Ma’am. Agave is sold out until the first week of January. Thanks so much!

    Can I tap to pay?

Yes, at the terminal with a server. Thanks so much!

    What's the dress code like?

    Casual

    Is outside seating available?

No. There's "patio" dining, but it's still indoors with open air ceilings around its walls borders. This area is very cool, because of the open air wall borders, and above head ceiling fans. It's really nice. It feels like an adobe.

Can they accommodate a party of 20?

This isn't a very roomy restaurant. Most of the seating spaces are rather close/tight. If I took a guess, I would say probably not comfortably.

Is there a Happy Hour here?

Yes, at the bar - which had limited seating.

I'm taking my girlfriend for her birthday is it better to sit outside or upstairs?

Depends on if it's you and her , if it is upstairs will be kool but I also like the patio as well.

Please be aware that's it's limited but enough. We came on a Sunday around 7pm. There were a few people there so we instantly got seated and had our choice of where. They do have TVs and the March Madness game was on with a captive audience. We ordered the half chicken with cilantro cream sauce, sweet lime bbq sauce, black beans, birria quesadilla and yuca fries. It was all AMAZING. And our food came out quickly after we ordered, as if they read our mind and knew we were on the way. The chicken was so juicy with flavor and easily fell off the bone. It pairs well with all of the sauces. The yuca fries were a perfect combination of crunch on the outside and soft on the inside covered with chunks of garlic. The yuca fries and cilantro cream are a match made in heaven. The birria quesadilla had juicy beef on the inside but a firm quesadilla to hold it all together, and the consumé dipping sauce was a complimentary addition. The quesadilla was good without it and great with it. The black beans were pretty standard but cooked well with a nice flavor. It was all stellar. I found no fault with anything we ate. Our waiter was attentive and very pleasant. This was a great place to have a great time. Despite the food being so great, it's a casually dining experience. They had a dj who was good but could use some discernment on changing songs when people are vibing to it, to another song with less tempo and vibes. There seemed to be one server and she was doing it all it seemed poor thing, which equaled to slow service. She was pleasant and did not appear overwhelmed. They didn't have the mixers to make a lemon drop or too much anything I wanted so I didn't order a drink except water. They list liquor on their website so I thought it would be a good place for me and my husband since I don't drink beer but he does. They also list wine. They only had 1 wine available, which was a can of Stella Rosa Black. My husband called it soda lol. It was 5% alcohol, in line with the seltzers they have. I started to get one as they had some flavors I might like but I thought we were hitting another spot and wanted to save my alcohol limit on something I really wanted. I'm not sure if I'll be back to try it though. I ordered the jerk chicken egg rolls. I liked them, my husband not so much. They are not spicy which suited me fine and I asked before ordering them the spice level. The sauce that comes with it really adds the jerk flavor, not spice. They came out piping hot. I would order them again if we returned. This next oops was on me. I saw they had oysters, but didn't check to see if they had raw oysters, which my husband loves. They have a variety of baked oysters and some fried ones. I like them chargrilled so that didn't work for me either. As they say, reading is fundamental. Had I done my homework we probably wouldn't have stopped in last night. But I wanted to support black owned businesses on Juneteenth. I hope they make it as they're the only black owned brewery in Atlanta as noted on their website. There's parking around the corner. The restaurant as I could see was clean. The server was friendly despite being overworked. Go try them if you're a beer &/or seltzer drinker and like baked or fried oysters.

My girlfriend has a very strict diet due to food sensitivities, so before ordering she specifically asked about the dough, bread, and flours used in the food. Unfortunately, instead of receiving details about the ingredients, she was simply told that she could eat it. Based on that information, she ordered the meal, but later had a reaction to the dough that was used. This was frustrating because the situation likely could have been avoided if we had been given accurate information about the ingredients from the beginning. We completely understand that not every restaurant can accommodate every dietary restriction, but being transparent about what is used in the food allows customers to make informed decisions for themselves. The food itself was good, which is why we're giving 3 stars, but the service on this particular issue left us disappointed. We hope the restaurant can do a better job of providing ingredient information when customers ask, especially for those with dietary restrictions or sensitivities.

It's on the beltline so it's a great place that you can walk to a lot of areas. As far as parking goes, that is on you and it's paid. But there is a structure right there at the entrance of the restaurant so it is easy peasy. The bar is a nice sized bar so you will have plenty of space. Basically the bar takes up more space than the actual seating area almost. Which is okay, because it's pretty vast. The staff at the bar was a winner... Super friendly and very conversational. Met the gm and he kicked it with us a few times .. absolutely hilarious and energetic soul. The vibe was chill for the most part. And that is if you wanted to sit indoor and outdoor. Outdoor had a covered area so you would not get rained on it there was wet weather. It is not a whole lot of space but enough for maybe 8 or so tables... Give or take. I had shrimp and grits, as well as the chicken wings. The shrimp and grits was good as far as choices to. Very savory and the shrimp were huge (even though there were not that many of them). Chicken wings, could have been a little less salty. But they were still very large and meaty. So you got plenty of chicken and every chicken wing bite. If you're on a beltline in that area, this will be a good spot to pop up in on. You can get some good drinks, and get some good conversation as well!

We also paired our oysters with the Miami Mint and Pickled Pepper Back specialty shots, which complemented them perfectly. For oysters, we took advantage of the happy hour selections: Chebooktook, Barnstable, Boomamoto, and Wareham. We also added Dixon Point, Little Harbor, and Mere Point oysters. Every variety was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. For our entrées, we shared the Fried Bread, Snapper Crudo, Coconut Fried Rice, Lobster Roll, and Tavern Burger. Every dish was outstanding and packed with flavor. It's hard to pick a favorite because everything exceeded our expectations. Tip: Try the Fried Bread with Snapper Crudo, or dip it in the sauce, or by itself. All three methods are fantastic and were recommended by our waiter, Geral. I've visited countless times, often multiple times a week, with friends, family, and colleagues. We consistently ordered generously and tipped well. Unfortunately, a recent experience has led my husband and I to decide we will no longer spend another dollar here, personally or for business. While sitting on the bar side, minding my own business, I was repeatedly harassed by a visibly intoxicated woman who deliberately sat next to me to start trouble. She stared at me continuously, and made unsolicited, offensive assumptions about my marriage. My husband was sitting to my left, completely unaware of what was transpiring as he was listening to some music through his Meta glasses. I initially ignored the woman's behavior and tried to laugh it off because I simply came to eat in peace. However, the situation escalated when she began directing inappropriate questions toward my husband and attempting to provoke him. Despite her continued escalation, other patrons jumped in to defend her and one even threatened my husband, portraying her as the victim. When we attempted to explain the situation to Jason (who I believe is the bar manager), rather than hearing us out, we were told the police were being called on us. We were not the aggressors and did nothing wrong. It was deeply frustrating to be dismissed and treated as though we were at fault when we were only defending ourselves. What makes this experience especially upsetting is that we have always been respectful, trouble-free patrons for 13 years! The bar staff that evening was dismissive and, at times, rude. There was no apparent effort to address how this intoxicated individual was disrupting the environment, continuing to insult my husband, and repeatedly putting her hand in his face to provoke him. To my knowledge, she was never asked to leave nor threatened with police involvement. She left only when she chose to. Only the server who brought out our food showed any level of concern or professionalism. The bartenders and another staff member in the back (a bald person, don't know their role) made it clear we were not welcome and ultimately called the police. We are owed an apology. While I don't expect one, I'm leaving this review to warn other customers (especially people of color) to be mindful of how quickly a place you've supported for years can turn on you and how we're quickly seen as the problem just because we get loud when we've been disrespected. I would strongly advise going to another place in the neighborhood like The Beverly if you want to avoid situations like the one we experienced. After more than a decade of loyal support, we understand the value we bring as customers and as people. Respect should never be conditional or situational. When a business fails to protect that basic standard, it's our responsibility to set boundaries and take our patronage where it's valued.
