We were a party of 6 and all of us ordered different dishes. The fish/seafood dishes were average. The lamb dish was good. unfortunately in spite of vegetarian menu( we were pleasantly surprised to see one) the veggie enchiladas were tasteless with some grilled veggies in a tortilla. The sauce was favoureless. I think it has some innovative drinks but average to below average food considering the price. The ambience is eclectic which makes it a nice bar to hang out. We went to Agave on my birthday eve, and the reason why I decided to go was the excellent phone service when I called beforehand. The food was amazing. The margarita was a little bitter for me. Our server seemed to be in a hurry though, maybe because it was super bowl Sunday. He forgot a couple of things and asked if we wanted to go boxed before we were done eating. Tonight was an impromptu visit to Agave Restaurant. I normally always know where I want to end dinner but, tonight I didn't. My husband suggested Agave due to it's close proximity to 1-20 and it being an option if BOGO entree via the Dining Out Passbook. I've been craving short ribs so, Tonight, I ordered the Beef Short Rib that was served over sweet potato mash Service from Heather was just as amazing as the food! Took my parents to Agave this week, they were visiting from Florida. All of us loved our meals. My mother asked for corn tortillas, and they have blue corn tortillas here. How cool! And the corn on the cob was just fabulous. It's hard to prepare it better than they do here. I had a vegan burrito (Vegans - ask for it, it's not on the menu) which I devoured. So good! Guacamole was fresh and flavorful. Time for an update on my review. Jack and his team do an amazing job and with the refreshed menu, they have risen the bar again! I've been going here for years and this is the best it has ever been. ITP joints that have service and good food are a dime a dozen so when you find them, you have to give them the props. I came here with a few friends one night and always saw this place but never had the opportunity till now. Since our party had reservations, it was done family style which I'm not mad at but more on the food later. Agave is a tex-mex restaurant that borders more on the Mexican in terms of flavors. There's smatterings of southern style cooking but for most of the food, it leans heavily on actual Mexican influences in terms of spices, cooking methods, and presentation which I appreciated. The restaurant interior is slightly confusing as it's split up into three sections inside itself. There's a bar section with some table dining, there's a second section of a dining area, and the third section which seems like it's reservation only which was an interesting layout. But the place as a whole is dimly lit yet active in terms of how they handle service. Service here was fantastic! Our server was pleasant, professional, friendly, relatable, prompt, and efficient. So now let us talk about the food. The way our dining experience was was family style so it will be different from the normal dining experience of others so based solely on the food we got for our 4 course family style dining experience. The red hominy pork posole is phenomenal. I've never had hominy that wasn't in its grits form so this was different but the flavor of that soup was deep, rich, savory, flavorful, and definitely a comfort food. The salad I wasn't too much of a fan of due to the beans and the corn but it had a light crisp flavor to it and found that enjoyable. I enjoyed the smoked chicken quesadilla. The chicken was moist, the cheeses inside the tortilla didn't overpower anything, it was just a nice balance in flavor. We were then served the courses. Fried chicken, a barbacoa taco, and a veggie pasta. The fried chicken was cut into strips which I found odd but again, it was a flavorful homely comfort food a la Southern American cooking. The barbacoa taco wasn't as enjoyable as the meat was dry but the spices in the taco definitely had a kick to it. If the meat was a bit more tender, it would've been a better dish in my opinion. The veggie pasta I found to be delightful. Again, savory, flavorful, and enjoyable. The dessert was a pumpkin pecan pie which was scrumptious! Sweet, a balance of pecan and pumpkin which held this delightful dance that was such a fantastic marriage of sweetness that topped off the dinner. I can't believe I've never reviewed Agave! We come often..with and without my Dining out coupon book. It's always better with the book though!! Buy one entree get one free. Came for one of my birthday celebration dinners. Food was good as usual. My son loves their kids' menu! They didn't have lamb chops on the kids menu this time but they had steak so he got that. We got Brussels sprouts and the red pepper salmon. The Salmon was a nice healthy dish...I probably needed some grits to really feel satisfied! The Brussels were just ok. I love Brussels sprouts so I was a little disappointed that they were not fantastic. My son devoured his steak. The service is always great. I wish I remembered our server's name because he was phenomenal. They give free dessert for your birthday so that was nice. I WILL NEVER COME BACK. The WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!!!!! The food was OK, nothing special. I had the lamb chops and for 31 dollars it was average. Our Waitress, (Paulette) bless her heart seem overwhelmed. She could not provide the best service to us because it appeared like she was doing too much. And had too many tables. I hope they don't share tips here. The wait staff cleans off their own tables, brings water, drinks, and sees after their customers. The only thing she didn't do was bring our food. The lady that did bring our food was pretty dope. We had a small conversation with her (she had red hair, we didn't get her name). We waited at least 20 minutes after we had eaten before our table was cleaned off and we were checked on. Other staff members passed by our table several times they should've been the ones to clean the table off, because they really was not doing anything else. The bad and why I will never come back. I missed one of the concert performers and half of the other person performance because of their incompetence/ Carelessness. Cars are valet parked here so we went outside to get my car. The man brought my car up to me. I held my hand out for my key and the car attendant stated that ma'am I have placed your key in your cupholder you are good to go. He was given a 10 dollar tip I said OK I did not check because I was ready to go and I was concerned with getting to my concert and at the time I had 45 minutes to get there more than enough time because my GPS said that it will take 15 minutes to get there. We were only 2 miles away. After I arrived to State Farm Arena before I cut my car off I realized that my key was not in my cupholder. We called back to the restaurant to have people that answer the phone and hang up on us. No one was willing to assist us in this matter!!!!! Needless to say we missed one of the performers of our concert because we had to go back and the traffic going back to the restaurant and back to State Farm Arena was bad. Valet Attendant still had the key the whole time.!!!!!!!!! I wanted my damn tip money back. All he could say was sorry! The worst experience I have ever had!!!!!!! read more

The chef stopped by our table to check in with us and thank us for dining at Agave. Our server, Max, was excellent! He was ready with recommendations and descriptions of unfamiliar menu items-----and he ensured that we were out the door in time to get to the concert venue with time to spare. And don't get me started on the margaritas! Agave was such an unexpected pleasure compared to what I have become accustomed to in terms of Tex-Mex/Southwestern cuisine. The guacamole, salsa, smoked trout appetizer, Posole and the lamb were amazing and the chocolate mousse was perfection. They have complimentary valet parking so parking is not an issue. We had a reservation for 8pm but had to wait about 15 minutes for a table to become available. We sat at a high top table and the chairs were not the most comfortable. The margaritas were great!! I got a regular house top shelf margarita and just one did the job. I ordered the short ribs. I was kinda worried when my food came out because the mashed potato turned out to be mashed sweet potatoes. But it was good! Everyone enjoyed their meals. Shout to Anderson, our server. I've driven by many times in the past year and finally had a chance to eat here with the family. We had a nice time for a mid week dinner. The parking is valet unless you walk. The restaurant features traditional textured walls you might find in an Adobe home, or rancho. On the tops of cabinets, decorative tequila bottles. Of course we started out with a couple of margaritas. Nicole had the skinny and I had their Agave special. They were both very good. For dinner we shared a meal, I had a spicy chicken burrito, and a side soup, Nicole had the salmon, the kiddo had chicken tenders with corn. The atmosphere was very cozy and we enjoyed the food. I'll start off by admitting I am not a local, but I was taken here by locals that ABSOLUTELY LOVE this place. It's hands down their favorite restaurant to take visitors, go for special occasions, go for large parties, or just a night out. And this place is great for all of the above - there are always reservations or the wait is reasonable, there's good space for larger parties, but also space for a tucked away date night, the setup is great. The staff and atmosphere are comfortable and welcoming - truly. And the service is fantastic- friendly, attentive servers with great skill. We had a party of nine and not one thing was wrong or needed to be repeated, and she was just lovely which enhanced the experience. Now on to the food! We went for dinner and it was good, I'd definitely come back and try other things on the menu. I was told the chicken was a specialty of theirs - what they are known for - so I, of course, got the chicken. It was good but the seasoning did not reach the meat. Tasted like it could have been marinated longer - but the breading and top seasoning was excellent. I swapped the potatoes and corn for the grits and collard greens and that was a perfect decision. Some of the best grits and definitely the best collard greens I've ever had in my life. A must order. My drink - the skinny margarita- was okay. They really like spice here, see the menu, and I think it can be a bit overwhelming - one 'spicy' item per dish is sufficient and would allow that item to stand out. But, it's all tasty so I still recommend eating your way through the menu :) Valet parking is easy and available. They also have a good bar scene, so you can come for drinks and apps just as easily. We started off with a drink which were strong and good. I ordered the taco and the barbacoa in the 'taco' was super tender and perfectly seasoned. I removed the chorizo sauce and was still satisfied. The scallops were perfectly cooked. The only thing we did not enjoy was the honey cider & smoked bacon collard greens. They were a bit too sweet for our liking. There is a lot of different option on the menu to choose from. Even though we had a reservation we still waited 20-25 minutes and it seemed like other people were doing the same. Without exaggeration or hyperbole, this was one of the best meals I've had in my entire life. The steak was perfectly cooked - better than most steakouses - and I'm notoriously picky about my steaks. I'm also frequently disappointed by the flavorless mush most people offer as collard greens. Agave, however, completely blew me away here. Another thing that impressed me was the owner. We saw someone humbly going around and refilling everyone's water. We later learned not only was he also the cook, but the owner of the entire business. Great service on top of already great food. I came here one evening and the restaurant lot was packed! Luckily they offer complimentary valet, because there isn't any other parking in the area. There was only one valet guy so he was running everywhere. We did not have a reservation, but were able to be seated pretty quickly. The restaurant has two sides and a couple tables upstairs. We were seated at one of the upstairs tables. For drinks we got a mango margarita and the Mona Lisa punch. The drinks were nice & strong. The punch reminded me of a rum punch. We also got the shrimp spring rolls and brussels to start. When it was time to order entrees, I couldn't decided between the enchiladas and the scallops. I ended up getting the scallops, and my friend went with the fried chicken and a side of mac. The food was just ok. The scallops were salty and the mac & cheese had a weird aftertaste. Service was just ok as well. Not sure if it was because we were sitting upstairs, but we didn't see our server much. If I return, it'll probably be for the drinks. read more

We were accommodated easily with delaying our reservation time. The atmosphere is very serene, romantic and beautiful. The staff were super friendly and anticipated our needs. We did have a brief time of not being able to locate our server, however, the host and another server handled our needs quickly. The music on the restaurant side was loud enough for a vibe but low enough for good conversation. Our food was well seasoned with excellent flavor. I had the special of the week, lamb chop lollipops and fried lobster tail. I did have to send my lamb back due to incorrect temp but it was corrected with fresh lamb that was perfectly executed. The lobster was cooked well. It was not overcooked and the texture was excellent. I appreciated the light breading that didn't take away from the lobster. I didn't have drinks as this was my no drink evening. I did enjoy the selection of hot tea. I will definitely be back. SOON! I will say that there is a slight draft on the side near the door. It was a brisk night and I did opt to keep my jacket on. The fire place helps but we weren't close enough to get the full impact. read more

The tables are candlelit with real fire candles, adding to the charm and romanticism of the restaurant. The drinks. Those are enough for me to come back to Agave. I drank the Mona Lisa Punch, aptly named because I could have drank a pitcher of this by myself. It was a sweet, juicy, passionfruit-forward cocktail that took away all my FOMO from not trying their margaritas. Though our group did try the margaritas and they were perfect, you have an incredible selection to choose from depending on your mood for the night. Fresh, different, and varied - the food at Agave was an exciting blend of seafood, pasta, and Tex-Mex. I tried the Diablo Crawfish pasta and a large plate of creamy spicy linguini came out of the kitchen garnished with a fresh green basil leaf. This plate had everything and my tastebuds were fully satisfied. We also tasted the fresh Homemade Guacamole, Grilled Street Corn, and Spicy Serrrano Tuna Crudo. Each of these items were a hit! The tuna of the Tuna Crudo was very fresh. Their website does not do this establishment justice. There is much more to see at Agave and it is a place worth visiting in multiplicity. Parking, however, is a disaster. You have to park multiple blocks away and walk to the door, so make sure you are in the right footwear. We visited on a busy Saturday night, and were immediately impressed by this spot's gorgeous, if not a bit dated, stucco interior decorated with Native American art and handicrafts, like serapes and pottery. After being seated in their comfortable dining room, we started with a couple solid margs. After an order of chips, guac, and their basic but tasty fundido con frijoles, we settled into our entrees- a bean burrito for her and veggie enchiladas for me. While fine, it didn't quite meet my standards as a Texan, but all things considered, it worked well enough. Agave was incredible tonight! We love this family owned restaurant. Chef/owner Jack is in the house with top notch service and delicious, fresh, well executed dishes. We had the strip steak with mushrooms and spinach and the grilled pork chop with collards and Mac n cheese. The steak was grilled to a perfect medium. Perfectly juicy and tender. Wow what an incredible restaurant in Atlanta. The ambiance was so inviting, cute and cozy. We sat on the back patio and enjoyed the sunset while enjoying our delicious meal. My waitress Brea, so energetic, and down to earth. it was my first time attending she helped me with the menu, and explaining the food options and telling me what was her favorites. She came to my aide after informing her I was allergic to mayonnaise after I placed my order to make sure I was okay and needed anything. I would love to come back to the restaurant and have her as my waitress. My food was amazing, I got the fried chicken with homemade mashed potatoes and grilled corn on the cob! Well done Agave!
