    Carne Asada

Stopped here for some tacos w the wifey and the vibes and energy were nice, so we decided to give it a try and it was decent. The food was okay not the best Mexican food I had but the amount of food given was plenty which made it worth it I order Birria tacos the broth for it was just missing flavor/love. And the service was just as good as we expected from how vibrant the place was.

I have always dismissed this place because it's in a high crime area, but I am glad I stopped in. It is in what obviously used to be a Denny's or maybe a Shoney's or some kind of diner attached to the motel. I was pleasantly surprised at the menu. They had Birria and other good dishes on the menu. I got the Birria once, and it was pretty good. I have since always gotten the tacos autenticos. They give you 4 fully loaded tacos, the tortillas are the larger kind not the street tacos kind. It also comes with limes and a tomatillo sauce. I am always so full when I am done with it. I was craving some beans and got a side of beans and the portion was huge. It's become a regular spot for me.

The food is generally good. The drinks are gooderer. Vegetarian selection exists. I believe you've got your standard five options. I'm told the non-vegetarian options are very good. Tuesdays at the moment they've got a comedy music show in the side of the place on a little stage I caught. Was packed the last time I went, probably means he needs a bigger stage but check him out on Taco Tuesdays.

Came here for a quick bite to eat with my man for Valentine's Day since it's our last night in Nashville. The atmosphere wasn't too great alittle old looking and the service was mid not sure if the server was new but it seemed he was exhausted and over it and mixing things up. He was nice though and did what he could but that wasn't very professional. On the other hand the drinks were decent they had a 2x1 strawberry margarita for 10$ so we got that and I got the carne asada meal. I'm from Florida so the taste wasn't top tier like back home but it was decent just needed alittle more seasoning same with the rice and refried beans. The portions however were great! My man got the birria tacos I had a bite and they were definitely good! We also got a side of fries and he got a side of rice and beans since his tacos didn't come with a side but weirdly had a plate of rice on it when it came out which we weren't aware of since it doesn't say.

Cute little restaurant with a large parking lot. I was driving a 26' truck and was thankful that it wasn't busy so I was able to park with ease! It's very warm and comfortable inside, quite big too, and the staff are very polite and friendly. I knew instantly what I wanted when I saw the menu online (as carnitas is my favorite!!) and it came quite quickly. The carnitas was crisp and flavorful with a big side of rice and beans. Forgot to mention that the complimentary chips n salsa were great too and came right away. Can't beat the price for a sit down, authentic Mexican experience. If I weren't driving a big truck I would have ordered a margarita too! When I come back to Nashville, I'll be sure to come back!

I was in town for a conference and stayed at a near by hotel. The coworker that I was traveling with and she suggested Mexican and this place was a quick Uber ride. We were pleasantly greeted and escorted to a dining area to the left of the hostess stand. There was a really loud party of 4 that were seated there and was relieved when some police officers arrived for a meal and were seating in the same area bc the other group was pretty rowdy and I always think of it as a good sign and food is good if officers choose to eat there! Our server was efficient. I got a combo, with an enchilada, taco, rice and beans. The food was fine and reasonable priced. The shredded chicken in my taco and enchilada was pretty average. I also ordered flan for dessert and that was the highlight of my dining experience-it was sooooo good!

Feed me Mexican food and a Margarita, and I am one happy lady. I have dined at Agave's twice and have been pleased with the service and food quality. My party of three was greeted and seated immediately with a basket of warm tortilla chips and salsa. I usually would order a veggie taco salad, but I wanted to live a little dangerously. So, I ordered the shrimp tacos and a made-to-order (off-menu) passion fruit Margarita. O-M-G, I almost shed a tear with the first bite- it was that good. The food came out hot, and my Margarita was delicious. Highly recommended, and will likely return in the next 30 days.

Ok so this place used to be another Mexican restaurant named Mazatlan and it was awful and maybe that's why they closed it. The new place is renovated and looking nicer and cleaner. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food is delicious and the salsa and chips are on point. They have a wide variety of options for food so you can definitely find your favorites. They offer your normal fountain drinks and they also have the Mexican "aguas frescas". They just opened so they do not have their liquor license yet but management said they should have it at the end of the month. Waiting on the state to process their paperwork. They don't have a bar area or outside seating at the moment but management said they will be adding that soon as well. They do have TV's around the restaurant for this football season. Bathrooms are clean. I would definitely recommend!

We love Agave's!!! The food, service, and atmosphere are great. Pablo always takes such good care of us! We have a few Mexican restaurants closer to us but choose to drive to Agave's because it never disappoints.

First, I would give this place 4 stars if: The Agave appetizer gave more than a few items to pick from. Very weak compared to their menu. The drink menu for liquor and tequila is decent. They have nothing else desires a small selection of beer. I can drink beer so there are no seltzers or ciders to choose from. Other than those 2 issues, the service and food is fantastic.

We both ordered the asada tacos and they were SO delicious, exactly what we needed. The rice on the side tasted incredibly fresh too, and the tomato and corn mixed into it were the perfect addition. I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised. The guacamole and chips were the standout of the meal. The guacamole was incredibly fresh, packed with flavor, and served alongside warm, freshly made tortilla chips that were hard to stop eating. We also ordered the esquites, since I'm a huge fan of authentic elote preparado. The flavors were delicious and well-balanced. My only suggestion would be to serve the esquites warm, I promise it truly takes the dish to another level. As for the tacos, the presentation was beautiful. The Al Pastor tacos looked fantastic, but they leaned a little too sweet for my taste and were missing some of the bold, smoky flavors I associate with traditional Al Pastor, like guajillo chiles, oregano, and other aromatic spices. On the other hand, the chicken tacos were excellent. They were juicy, well-seasoned, and flavorful enough to shine without needing much from the toppings. To top it all off, our server was friendly, attentive, and helped make the entire experience enjoyable. Overall, Bakersfield exceeded my expectations. While it may not replace the authentic taco shops of the Southwest, it's definitely a solid choice in Nashville, especially if you're craving flavorful Mexican-inspired food before a night out.

I've loved Ford Fry establishments for a long time, though his Nashville outposts tend to pale in comparison to the Atlanta originals, and Little Rey kind of fits that pattern. Little Rey serves Tex-Mex in a casual setting next to the Vanderbilt campus. You order at the counter and seat yourself, making this an ideal spot for a cheap, casual lunch or dinner with a crew. There's a dedicated private parking lot (almost unheard of in this area!) and lots of great indoor and outdoor seating. I came in the early evening on a weekday for dinner and it wasn't too crowded. My chips and piping hot queso came out immediately, and my chicken al carbon taco was ready by the time I got back from the salsa bar. The salsa bar is free and amazing: 6 cold dips and 1 hot dip, full of freshness and flavor. I opted for two of the mild sauces, which were super fresh tasting but not spicy whatsoever (that was on me and my choice). One small note: the self-serve setup made the salsa bar a little messy and unkempt, and I wish it had been tidied up a bit between customers. I came in craving great chips and salsa and on that point Little Rey absolutely delivered. The chips were thin, crispy, salty, and delicious. The queso was super hot and liquidy, not spicy. Perfection. The taco itself was more of a letdown: flour tortilla was cold, chicken was a bit dry, and without the addition of salsa it felt lacking in flavor. They're supposed to be well known for chicken here, so that was disappointing. For dessert I got the vanilla soft serve with chocolate and crushed buñuelos on top. Smooth, creamy, with perfect toppings. The large was a bit too much, but at $5 it was an unbeatable price for a tasty dessert. My whole meal, dessert included, was under $20, which was such a pleasant and affordable change of pace to the surrounding area. Service was friendly, kind, and fast. I'd come back for the chips and queso and soft serve alone, but I'll keep my expectations low for the other items.
