It's been a bit since I have been to Agaves. Not much has changed. The facility is big, the team is well staffed, things are clean and the service is speedy. The downside I think is the food. I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Agave today. I have been vegan for over 15 years, and being vegan is deeply important to me. While dining, I discovered strips of chicken mixed into the bottom of my refried beans. I immediately spit it out. This is not a small mistake. For someone who does not consume animal products for ethical and personal reasons, this is very serious. It also took quite a while to get someone's attention to address the issue. When I finally did, they offered to bring me more beans, but after such a major error, I no longer felt comfortable trusting that the replacement would be handled properly. They offered to remove the beans from my bill, but still charged me for my other item. While I appreciate the refund for the beans, I believe the entire meal should have been compensated given the severity of the mistake and the distress it caused. I chose not to go back and forth about it because I was already upset. Unfortunately, I will not be returning. This experience was unacceptable and very disappointing. read more

Restaurant is big and spacious, atmosphere is dark and intimate at each table or booth. Chips and salsa are brought out first thing to the table. Don't worry if you don't like it spicy, the salsa here is pretty mild. The service was prompt and the employees attentive, friendly and considerate. I ordered the steak fajita when I was there. The food was OK. The fajitas were piping hot with lots of veggies and steak. The rice and beans were nothing special. But I do like how it's served with a little bowl of guacamole as well. Overall, I'd go back to try some other things on the menu, but the just was just fair. read more

Their food is still a little less than what it used to be but I just love their refried beans. They have huge portions though. Bigger than what I imagine. The food is always served piping hot and fresh. Sometimes tho I find it hard to order as some of their employees do not speak English very well and my Spanish lacks in the food sept at times. They are always friendly though and they try. The inside and bathrooms are always clean and we love sitting out in the patio. It's just and overall nice atmosphere and we love it. So visiting Fort Wayne we decided stop at this restaurant and this please didn't disappoint! Atmosphere: Walking in you could instantly smell the food they are making. The smell of the food smelled amazing. The place was nicely lit with a dimmed atmosphere. Customer Service: The employees there were nice, friendly and out going. Food ordered: The food that I was the chicken fijta. This came with soft taco shells, beans, sour cream and guacamole. I usually eat a lot of food for dinner and let me tell you I almost didn't finish this dish. Final thoughts: I'd definitely order the fijta if I was you. We're visiting my fiance while he's working in Indiana and decided to try Agaves for Father's Day. I got fajita nachos, my fiance got a burrito with shredded chicken, my oldest daughter got soft tacos and rice, and my youngest got a quesadilla and fries. Our service was super slow. I saw everyone elses witnesses twice as much as we saw ours. My nachos were mediocre at best. My fiances burrito had no flavor at all. My youngest didn't eat any of her food. My oldest had 3 tacos and only 1 of them had cheese on it. She did love her rice though (she enjoyed the corn and peas in it, our mexican restaurant at home doesn't have this). The worst part was how sick I got when we got back to our hotel. I definitely don't think we'll be visiting Agaves again. read more

Place was aight, comparing it to other Mexican establishments in town like Cebolla's and Los Cabos. They give you more beans and rice here than the others, but less meat filling in your burritos amigos, yeah like half the meat. Still a hardy meal can't complain about not getting full. The chips are boring here, but they give you a bunch of them when you get to go. Average Salsa. The tostada was pretty good, but the shell itself was a little old kind of yellow, at first I thought it was a Doritos locos taco shell, but nope just old and that color. Lots of beans and rice though. Not bad, but nothing special. I would give it to some of the other Mexican joint's I been to on overall taste and freshness over this place. I will probably skip this place next time around for Mexican food. Nothing was really outstanding and like I said the meat filling in the burrito was painted on pretty thin compared to other places. When you eat the beans & rice with all the chips you're going to get full regardless though right essay ? you know what I am saying right? Some of the help don't speak a lick of English here and that is fine, I don't discriminate, just makes things more time consuming trying to communicate is all. Standard Mexican fare at above average prices...the ambiance is great in this newly constructed restaurant. I ordered the blue burrito, and it had everything you could ever want, and smothered in cheese sauce! Beef, chicken, and shrimp with beans, corn, and rice to round out the insides. Accompanied by margaritas by the pitcher to share with friends. Good food, but prices were slightly higher than expected, but a solid 3 star joint. There were 2 things that marred my experience here. The first being very slow service. We started out with a vibrant charismatic waiter who was ending his shift, he turned our table over to a waitress who clearly had more pressing matters to attend, what the were I can't begin to tell you. Once the energy level dipped with our new server , we placed our order and to my surprise, I got NOTHING NEAR what I ordered. I made the dour duchess aware immediately, to which her reply was "so, you don't want it" me being slighty aghast, replied, " well no cuz I didn't order this" ....all down hill from there. My husband and I's go-to Mexican restaurant. Quick service always and friendly staff! Sometimes it's a little awkward because the women stare at my husband (he's a bodybuilder, so I'm used to it.. but there are ways to be more discreet, haha!). Best salsa ever and great queso. My boyfriend and I and his parents tried to eat dinner here, but the waitress didn't get our order right. She brought one order of fajitas for the entire table. When we realized and pointed out that no more food was coming, they put in another order of fajitas for us and told us they would rush it. 20 minutes later, the wrong kind of fajitas came out of the kitchen, and undercooked. The food wasn't terrible, but it was certainly nothing special in a city with too many "Mexican" restaurants to count. The table wasn't cleaned for us from the previous customers when we sat down. Not a positive experience. Apparently I posted that too soon. After my boyfriend's parents picked at their poorly cooked food, the waitress offered a box because we were ready to go and maybe get some burgers. We declined, insisting we didn't want a box, and requested our check. As she left our table, she replied she was going to get us a box. I don't feel the need to come back. read more

I love this place. I often order takeout, and it is always quick with excellent food. Every so often I enjoy eating in at this location. The service is amazing, the bar tender is friendly and generous. I just appreciate what these people do to the bottom of my heart. Pretty good stuff by midwest standards. They seem to focus more on quantity than quality.

I would have to say this is one of the better mexican restaurants in the Fort. What they lack in authenticity they make up in hearty, filling, and tasty dishes. You can get all the favorites of course, fajitas, burritos, chimichangas. They have an ala carte menu, and dinner entres. I'm pretty sure I saw vegetarian options (but being a meat eater, I quickly scanned over them.) Their jumbo margaritas are delicious and quite strong! I can have one while waiting for my food, and my head is a spinnin'!! Real reason I choose this restaurant over say...Casa? CHEESE DIP!! I ordered to go for my family and they said 15 min to pickup. I showed up 20 min after ordering, I had to wait 30 min for it to be ready. I asked if everything. Was there they said yes. I then drove 20 mins back home, and was missing 3 items. I called the manager who seemed nice and said he would remake the items and credit my charge for them. I went back up there (20 min) and proceeded to wait 40 more min before they made the items. This is ridiculous. Even after the manager said he would have It in 10 min. read more

Our server was super friendly, but that being said I ordered the pastor tacos and the grilled fish tacos and it took a very long time to get...Tacos! Shouldn't have take as long as it did. But that being said they were good, the fish tacos were very good as well. I would eat here again. I think this is a great place for solid, good, standard, Americanized Mexican food. The decorations are festive, the staff pleasant and attentive, and the facilities are clean. As for the food - like most typical American-Mexican places, the menu is HUGE. So. Many. Options. It's hard to sift through what is authentic Mexican fare, and what is typical American versions. The tortilla chips and salsa tasted fresh, which I appreciated. We added on queso, which was great, but within a half hour, as it cooled, it thickened A LOT. Still good, but maybe if they served it in a dish that kept it warm, it would be edible throughout the meal. I ordered steak tacos in flour tortillas (received corn tortillas instead of what I ordered) and they came with a delicious hot sauce and side of onion & cilantro. I loved them. The rice and beans side was also delicious. My two fellow diners were mostly happy with their orders, however, one of them ordered hard tacos which fell apart before he could eat them.
