Went here over Labor Day weekend it was very busy, so I'm sure what the regular crowd looks like. There's options to dine in or order coffee, bagels and pastries in the front. The servers were kind and friendly. Mostly teenagers with summer jobs. The speciality coffees were amazing. The pancakes were great. But beware the hash browns/potatoes they were terrible. Very soggy not crispy or flavorful at all. Other than that the place was cute and welcoming. Would come again, it's in a very cute area. read more

Super cute and cozy place for breakfast/brunch. They have sweet and savory options but if you've got a sweet tooth you'll definitely be happy with your options. I got the Nutella French toast and a mocha caramel latte and they were 10/10. Wasn't a fan of the regular iced coffee my boyfriend got but the lattes were much better. Service was a little lacking but overall a good experience. read more

TLDR: a hidden gem in southern jersey.I would travel back from NYC just to have another grilled muffin! Came here on recommendation by a local. I didn't really expect much from a grilled muffin, but it ended up being the star of my visit: it was crispy, not overly sweet, warm, and paired with good quality butter. I got the peach muffin and there were good chunks of peach in there. Can't wait to try another! Also ordered a pork roll, egg and cheese on an everything bagel. Never had pork roll before and i quite enjoyed it- reminded me of spam. Also got a side of homefries. While they were good, I wasn't expecting something that resembled hash browns. This review is solely on the Jewish Apple Cake they sell. My grandmother knows I love Jewish Apple Cake and we saw a few online reviews boasting how great Agnes Cafe's Jewish Apple Cakes were. However, most of the reviews were a couple years old, and unfortunately the great baker they must have had at that time has been replaced. First, even though the "updated" menu they have posted on their company FB page says they serve it by the slice, when my grandmother asked, they told her she needed to order a whole cake. It cost like $36 I think. She came back a couple days later to retrieve it and it came in a slim cardboard box that was taped shut. The cake itself was the shape of the cardboard box they gave it to her in. Kind of weird in my option. I've never seen any kind of baked goods given to a customer that way. The Jewish Apple Cake itself? in my opinion, not worth the money we paid. I'm no baker but the amount of sugar they must have used made it sickeningly sweet. And even trying to slice it, the cake was reduced to crumbs. No wonder they had to sell it by the loaf! When you cut into it, it crumbled. Unfortunately, we did not find this Jewish Apple Cake to be as good as the online reviews had boasted. The one I buy at Giant Grocery store in PA is much more balanced and will hold shape when you cut it. read more

Agnes Cafe in Ventnor has to be one of my favorites breakfast/lunch spots on the island! It's exactly the type of mom & pop place you'd want to frequent in a small town. It serves simple staples but does it well. I almost always opt for breakfast no matter time of day and I am always satisfied. The pancakes are always sweet and fluffy and the omelettes always filling. Although I think the best part of Agnes cafe has to be its pastries and baked goods. Don't skip out on one! My favorite thing to have is definitely the summer seasonal peach muffin. But you absolutely MUST order it grilled! It's a total game changer. Slather on the butter and eat it while it's warm. You're welcome! Good prices, great food, and even better service! Add this to your list of places to eat while on the island. Just note in true Ventnor fashion, parking can be tricky at times. I almost hesitate to give this review because I'd rather keep this gem to myself. Agnes is my favorite breakfast spot in the Atlantic City/Ventnor/Margate area. The menu has some great options beyond the usual suspects, like blueberry cheesecake stuffed French toast and an avocado toast with finely shaved radish on top. The food is always dependably good and the servers are very pleasant. Ambiance is typical "shore" minimal for a breakfast place. Reasonably priced for the area. A great find. read more

Service was good for me but the table next to us wasn't waited on for 15 minutes and so they left. The omlete I ordered didn't come with cheese in it which was odd but when I talked to some other people said it was normal to have to ask for cheese. It is a perfect walk from the shore and boardwalk. read more

This is a very nice normal small town diner with a good attitude, great service by friendly people and pretty basic, pretty good food at a reasonable but not great price. You're not going omg! in here but you'll feel relaxed and welcomed and get a pretty good meal and that's what I think when I think diner. You could do worse so give it a try. read more

My boyfriend ordered the cafe combo, which includes 2 pieces of bacon. He substituted for sausage for an up-charge and got one piece. I got 2 runny eggs, pork roll and English muffin.. to create my own sandwich. When the food was delivered to our table, I was missing my English muffin and pork roll. The waitress never came by, and my boyfriend was half way done eating his meal. We sat with no refills for a long time. I had to go inside to ask for pork roll and the muffin, it came out in 5 minutes (freshly hot) but my boyfriend was finished at that point and my eggs were cold. I asked for waters and was handed one to walk outside with myself, Instead of 2 being brought to the table. So I asked for a box since he was done eating. We were charged for every little thing and I left on a stomachs worth of coffee :( not happy. read more

Quality, top-notch breakfast place with good specials. We did not ventured from our norms (teen daughter and i) but the portions were large and the refills plenty. Granted, we were there on a 90-degree day, but it was a little warm in there. Did not ruin the overall vibe, but worth mentioning. Severs were way on top of things. read more

I highly recommend Agnes Cafe!!!! Our waitress was Sami and she was awesome. This place is phenomenal. They have a long list of specials but we ordered off the regular menu. I got the cafe combo with the prefect amount of food: 2 small pancakes with banana, 2 eggs, home fries and bacon. Egg white omelet, veggie wrap, and nova platter, plus Cold brew and green smoothies were good too. The service here is exceptional and there was no wait. This is going to be our new regular place!! Ever since Agnes Cafe changed ownership things have not been the same. To orders not being filled correctly, waiting 10 minutes just to be acknowledged. Hopefully they'll get it together cause shoobies will end up walking out, never to return. It was brought by the people who own Velo & never have I been ignored or had my orders messed up at Velo. I really love Agnes Cafe because the food is consistently good, the specials are interesting and the service is attentive. I have found that except for the higher-end restaurants it is very difficult for restaurants to find reliable help in this area. Agnes is reasonably priced, the baked goods are great and the staff is pleasant. Place is always clean. Definitely recommend. read more

Read the high reviews but that was no our experience . Paper thin skimpy omelettes and a waitress who never refilled our cup of coffee. Initially Waitress poured only 1/2 cup of decaf for my wife because they "ran out of decaf ". Said they didn't put up any fresh coffee because it was after 10:00 am? read more

Hash Browns salty and forgot the onions Over medium eggs looked kind of like a plastic mold. Hard to describe just not fresh looking. Bacon cooked to death and flat as a piece of paper. Could have been cooked days ago by the looks of it. Pancakes ok but different in their flavor and color. Only two hot lunch selections on the entire lunch menu in December??? I'd have told someone how it all was if Only someone had asked me!!!. I live nearby but it's a one and done for me I'm afraid. Really wanted to like it. Worst part is it cost me $11. I'm not cheap in anyway but I hate feeling ripped off and that's how I feel. But hey at least the out-of-towners like it. read more

Something tells me I should've ordered breakfast instead of lunch. The roast beef special I ordered was nothing special. The pluses of this sandwich are you get plenty of meat and coleslaw. The minuses are the meat was cold and the Kaiser roll was a little too firm. Maybe hot roast beef sandwiches are more of a Philly thing. I'll try the breakfast next time since many people seem to review that favorably. read more

Stopped in for a cuppa coffee and a slice of pie. Chose a piece of tiramisu cheesecake, it was fantastic! Very creamy and decadent and paired wonderfully with the fresh brewed hot coffee. Cheerful standard diner interior, painted a nice cheerful yellow. Courteous staff had matching pretty yellow shirts. The whole ambiance was well put together. Wonderful. read more

Born in Poland, Agnes studied Mechanical Engineering earning a Master of Engineering Degree before coming to the US. While in the United States, Agnes decided she enjoyed working and serving people rather than working in a cubical. She took over the then Shelly's Cafe in March 2012 and renaming it after herself in 2014. Agnes can always be found on duty at the cafe and expect to be greeted from behind the counter with a big smile and " Good Morning. How are you?"

It's a deli offering the classic staples. Menu and interior haven't been updated in at least 20 years. Deal with it or eat elsewhere. Sorry not sorry! I absolutely LOVE coming to downbeach when I'm visiting home. Best Rueben on the island and of course I enjoy the classic breakfast staples on offer. But I never leave without grabbing some goodies from the bakery. The Jewish apple cake is probably my favorite in the world. It's always super moist and very sweet. I also love the rugelach and hamantaschen! If Jewish deli is what you want, you won't leave disappointed. The price tag is hearty but the portions more or less fit the bill. The servers are efficient and pleasant enough but keep your expectations in check. And unlike most Margate eateries, DD has parking!

Downside- waitresses are lazy, don't make eye contact and are dismissive when asking if the meal is coming soon. While we appreciate the sliced challah on the table, any thinner and I'd be able to read through it. Thicker slices would be appropriate. A $3.95 slice of apple cake needs to be twice as thick minus the doily. Waitress check on our empty water glasses---NOPE! We'll be back with more, hopefully positive, observations.

We were looking for a bakery you grab some dessert items. Not being familiar with the area, Google…read more and Yelp were my besties for this mission. We found Formica's and drove over. Very limited parking in the area. By the time we parked and knocked on the door, they were closed. However, (not sure if it was the owner), someone motioned to the side door and let us in. It's a small spot with no seating. But, lots of different sweets. Chocolate covered pretzels, cakes, cookies, homemade snowballs. We got an assortment of items and were on our way. The service was great! There was a sweet lady at the register and we asked about the various cakes that were in the refrigerated case, to which she replied that she baked them. We chose the lemon and vanilla coconut slices. The coconut cake was covered toasted coconut and the layers contained a pineapple filling. The layers were moist and the cake amazing! The lemon cake was not a slice, but a two layer round with lemon cake and filling topped with a lemon mousse. That was amazing as well. They had an assortment of other cakes, cookies, other pastries and bread items. All in all a great place to stop by for a sweet treat while in Atlantic City.
