This was a great dinner! We made a reservation over what's app the day before. They were booked for a Wednesday night - though there were 5 of us. It's a very small place so for 4 of us it may have been easier to get in the next night. The food was very good and so was the service. We had the veal scaloppine, fettuccine carbonara, and steak. This place might be small but it delivers the most consistently excellent food I have had in Rome. They have the classic Roman staples like Cacio e Pepe, pasta alla Grecia, Carbonata, and Amatriciana but also offer a variety of other choices that will please almost any taste level. The wine list was also excellent and offered wines from all regions of Italy as well as other countries. We shared appetizers and mains. Not one was a disappointment. The staff was also very attentive and accommodating. I highly recommend Agrodolce. One piece of advise is to please make a reservation since as I stated it is a very small restaurant. We typically stay away from places that are that close to main tourists spots, but even with this being so close to the Trevi Fountain, it was not the typical tourist trap you usually see. The four cheese gnocchi was to die for and the collard greens they suggested with it cut through the fat nicely. We couldn't leave without dessert, and the tiramisu did not disappoint. First night in Rome. We had a reservation for 8pm. Travel delays were a problem. Luckily I was able to move the reservation back, on line, to 9:45. We arrive and are seated, water poured drinks ordered. We started with the beef carpaccio and the mixed bruschetta. The carpaccio dish was slices of beef topped with greens and shaved black truffles. It had fresh shaved truffle, of court was good. The bruschetta was 1 Texas toast size slice of bread topped with a creamy garlic spread. Another slice had a more traditional cherry tomatoes cut in half with basil and ricotta. The third one might have been mashed potato. All three were tasty. We also ordered the focaccia bread to go with the meal. It was light and airy more like a pizza dough. For our entrees I had the fettuccine with truffles. The fettuccine had a white sauce and tons of fresh shaved truffles. The dish was creamy, the pasta was well seasoned and al dente. My daughter had the gnocchi in a four cheese sauce. It really gave a kicked up macaroni and cheese vibe. I tried a bite, it was really good. We finished with the tiramisu. It was a great start to our trip. This restaurant is about a 2 minute walk to the Trevi fountain. If you're in the area why not visit both establishments. read more

Not even spectacular food -- which, by the way, this was not -- could make up for the rushed and rude service we experienced. My partner and I arrived on time for our 6:30 pm reservation. A few minutes after being seated, our waitress appeared and we ordered wine. When she brought the wine a few minutes later, she asked if we were ready to order. We kindly informed her that we knew we would like to start with the mussels, but hadn't had a chance to decide on our main dishes yet. At this point, she said something like "okay, come on guys, the kitchen takes 20 minutes to make pasta, I need to put your order in". We had been seated for less than 10 minutes and the restaurant was half empty. Not 2 minutes later, a new waitress appeared and asked if we were ready. We said no, since hardly any time had passed and I was deciding between pizza and pasta. Then, just a few minutes after that, our original waitress came again and asked if we were ready. I was clearly still perusing the menu and said no, I needed a few more minutes. The waitress rolled her eyes and again said "come on guys" and made several other comments regarding how long it would take to get our food. We told her we were in no rush, but she continued to lecture us -- I can't remember specifics, because at this point I can only remember feeling condescended to and enraged. We'd been seated for approximately 15 minutes, the restaraunt was half empty, and we were being treated like kindergarteners. A few minutes later a THIRD waiter arrived and we ordered. I blindly picked the ravioli because I was too annoyed to even process the menu. The food came and was exceedingly average. This place clearly stays afloat by operating as a tourist trap that churns customers in and out like pieces on an assembly line. I would not waste your time and money. No tax all love 5/5 The Scalopini Al limone- 13 euros and I would come back just for this. 5/5 Papperdelle con ragu bianco - 13 - house special noodles with a white ragu sauce. 4/5 I would come back and try the red sauce one. The tiramisu was 8 and 5/5 was the best tiramisu I ever had. Even had a coffee cake on the bottom which made it even better . We stopped here for dinner our first night in Rome and it did not disappoint! My husband had the filet mignon with gorgonzola sauce and I had the homemade pasta with fresh seasonal truffles. Both our dishes were fantastic. The service was friendly and fast, and the restaurant accommodated us without having a scheduled reservation. It is just a short walk from the Trevi fountain but despite this, the prices are reasonable and the food was excellent. Agrodolce is an absolute hidden gem amongst the many other nearby restaurants!
