I tried the chicken tortilla soup and it was "deconstructed"... all of the parts of the soup were on separate plates and I had to add them together in the bowl. The only reason I will ever go back to this place is because of a waiter there named Charles. Charles continually bathed me in margaritas as I dined which was a good strategy as the food was unremarkable. It was in the middle of brunch when I found out that my mother had cancer and was given 4 months to live. It was Charles whose shoulder I cried on and comforted me through that dark day. If it weren't for Charles I would have took my own life by drowning myself in the mimosa pitcher. I think that the current manager should be fired and replaced with Charles. Charles if you're reading this, I love you and will name my first born child after you......regardless of its gender. read more

Good food, good service, good drinks, good complimentary chips. What KILLS me about Agua 301 is that they have TWO toilets for a 100-seat restaurant plus bar. This means having to wait 10 minutes to use the restroom when the place is only about half full. Am I the only one who thinks it's crazy that the architects installed extra electrical outlets for people to charge their phones, but didn't bother putting in adequate facilities? The staff also has to use these toilets in the evenings when an adjacent public restroom is closed. Maybe I'm being unreasonable, but this is a major issue, and it makes me less likely to want to return to what's otherwise a nice place. read more

My boyfriend loves Zest, so we thought we'd try out Agua 301, since we also like Mexican food, and it's by the same owners. Unfortunately, the experience was not as great. The food was good, but there were a lot of issues with the service. After being seated, one of the hostesses came over and apologized for the wait (which wasn't really that long) and started taking our drink order. We asked for water and ordered some alcoholic drinks, but as we were finishing ordering, the server actually came around to take our orders. When we said we had told the hostess, he said "she can't take your order, she doesn't know what she's doing." We ordered the sopes as appetizers and tacos as entrees, and while the food came out quickly, it was all out of order. First came the appetizer, but there were no smaller plates to eat it on. Next came the drinks, but we had to ask again for our water. The tacos came out within 2 minutes of the appetizer, and actually beat those small plates for the appetizer to the table! I think they may have also beat the water to the table, as well! The timing was just off, all around. Because of all of our food coming out so quickly, we were finished with our meal after less than 30 minutes. When we told the server we weren't interested in dessert, he pushed us on it - which, we should note, was the first time he'd actually tried to talk to us besides just taking an order all night. I didn't hate it, but I certainly won't be recommending Agua 301 to anyone. The food was good enough, but it's not as though Mexican is hard to come by. And you can certainly get better service LOTS of other places. read more

It is hit or miss. Went one time for happy hour it was wonderful service was great, drinks tasted well made, and food was on point. This week not so much, the frozen peach sangria missed the peach and the flavor. The food order was all so wrong, and I just don't know what was happening. They did have a big group at this time so maybe that was the issue. I'll continue to frequent and hope I can increase this rating. read more

Incredibly delicious dinner....The stuffed pepper stuffed with sausage and cherry nut wine cream sauce garnished with pomegranate seeds walnuts and goat cheese was Was to die for... my wife selected the pesto salmon with pinenuts raisins with sautéed onions and spinach on a bed of rice over a flower tortilla.. our server Noraly and manager Roger we're right on point wonderful to deal with... The star of the show was Chef Jamie. He generously took the time to share how both dishes were prepared. Chef Jaime is a wonderful young man with a great passion for cooking, especially for creative and traditional Mexican cuisine. read more

Auga 301 was my initial hangout spot after the opening of the redeveloped Riverfront of DC. It became my go-to for happy hour (3pm-7pm) and eventually became my Late Night happy hour fun (9pm to close)! The only bummer is that the food isn't on the late night happy hour menu, but there are awesome dishes to try from the appetizers to the entrees. The Baja Fish tacos are a great choice, next to the Salmon tacos! Their wingettes are different yet great, especially when you add lemon juice to them... No side of ranch for you extra folks so don't ask! Ha! The drinks are priced reasonably for happy hour with the frozen and regular margaritas being some of the strongest in the city. The bartenders such as Rafael, Sean and Omar are some of the coolest and funniest guys in the city and the customer service led by their restaurant manager Roger is top notch. read more

We have been coming to Agua 301 for over 4 years and we have consistently received top notch service and good food. I've been bringing my daughter here since she was born - first for moms happy hours where the manager Mr. Gairy would make sure we had enough space for our strollers and now when she's older and can order her own meals. It's her favorite restaurant in town. We recently had an awesome lunch together where Marlon made sure we were well taken care of the entire time. This not authentic Mexican per se, but food is flavorful and serving sizes are HUGE. However, one thing i will complain about is the service. I had to aggressively get waiters attention to even take my drink order nearly 30 minutes after being seated. The waiter also forgot to give us utensils and napkins! We went here for our New Years Eve dinner, and overall, it was a nice experience. However, you can tell that the restaurant is new b/c there are a few kinks they need to work out. It's a beautiful restaurant, nice decor, clean, etc. A bit hard to find if you're not familiar with the area due to the construction and lack of directional signs! We were late for our reservation, but they were very accommodating and sat us when we arrived. Overall, the service needs work. We thought it was our server's first night b/c he was really nervous, corrected himself several times and kept forgetting us. We had to flag him down several times to remind him of things he was goign to bring. He also didn't know the answers to questions we had about the menu (what kind of white fish was in the ceviche? what are the seasonal beers on tap?) so I think that these issues can get ironed out as they get more experience. The cocktail selection was good! I'm not a tequila drinker, but my friends are, and they were very happy with the selection. Our drinks were tasty, and priced reasonably for the area. Food was okay - some huge hits and some misses. We got the regular guac and white fish ceviche. Both were very good, although I think they've taken some of the other Yelp reviews seriously b/c our guac was pretty salty! Our first basket of chips were tasty fried yucca strips, which were fun, but too thin and you couldn't hold any dip with them! The next basket was regular tortilla chips, which honestly looked and tasted just like Tostitos, so I'm guessing they came out of a bag! I would hope a restaurant would make their own. For small plates, we had the Ahi bites and the nopales. The ahi was delicious, but the nopales wasn't anything special. Kind of gummy vegetables with pickled toppings. Not worth it. We ordered a round of tacos (Pork Belly, Beef w/Kimchi, Fish) and they were thoroughly enjoyed. The taco serving is only 2, and that doesn't go very far when you're sharing with a crowd (esp for $11+). I had the Butternut Squash soup and the Ensalata de Calle. The soup was great, but I honestly wasn't a fan of the tilted bowl. It kept splashing out! The salad was disappointing. Close to $8 and it was a strip of watermelon, a few tomatoes, jicima and spices. However, dessert was amazing. We shared a round of churros and chocolate, which was fantastic. The churros were fresh and crispy, and you could tell that the chocolate was homemade. A+ on that one! Overall, I think it's okay for a fun/special night out, and I hope they keep improving with time. read more

I went for brunch and found the atmosphere perfect for a lazy weekend afternoon: bloody Mary, attentive staff, and beautiful view of the waterfront. It wasn't quite warm enough to be outside, but it was sunny enough to want to bask in the light streaming through the windows. Agua 301 got the job done. Drinks and shots by Nahu the bartender were delicious and fun. I found that the staff were able to suggest appropriate food and drink options based on my likes/dislikes, and were quite personable. I got the migas, and later, guacamole for chips. So good! I wasn't surprised to see that toward the end of the afternoon the happy hour brings in a solid crowd. This will be a hot spot for years to come with the Nats stadium only a few blocks away. read more

Came here for lunch on a Friday (woo not working on a weekday, so luxurious), and we had a nice time. The restaurant is nice, location is lovely right by the Yards Park, and the beautiful water views. Service was good, they were very attentive to our table, granted it wasn't crowded at all, only 4 or so tables eating, but still, it's quite nice having good service after some of my last few DC dining experiences left me feeling quite the neglected consumer. Walked into this place on a brunch afternoon and believed that sine their website stated there was brunch, I could have brunch menu. Wen tto the front desk and asked for brunch, the hostess said nothing to correct us, we sat down, and ended up, no brunch menu. So fall on that one. Javier was a pretty good waiter. Ordered the chicken flautas were were horrible, sorry. Waste of money. The salmon taco was OK, would not order that again. Pisco sour was limited on the alcohol serving. I was not super impressed with my visit, not to say that I would never return, but would rather try something else nearby. The view was great, seating was nice, decor and ambiance amazing. Went here for a group birthday dinner last Saturday. The place was packed due to the Nats game that day. Ambiance was nice though don't expect to be able to carry a conversation too well since the restaurant is very loud. The chips and salsa were decent. Thick chips, not overly salted, which I appreciate, and standard salsa, which I would've liked with more of a kick. Margarita tasted like a pre-made mix and could've used more tequila though my life motto is always "more tequila!" I ordered one of the specials for my entree, steak fajitas. The waiter immediately asked me, "How would you like it cooked....well done?" RED FLAG! Well done?! I said medium rare. I guess the joke was on me because it came out well done anyways. The meat had little flavor and was super tough....hmm, wonder why? It came with tortillas, pico de gallo, and sour cream. NO GUACAMOLE! Even Uncle Julio's fajitas come with guacamole :( My husband had the Mexican Seafood Paella which was definitely better than my dish though somewhat small for an entree...definitely not big enough for me to steal more of to make up for my lackluster steak fajitas. Service was lackluster as well. One glass of water, no refills. So parched! I desperately needed some water to wash down the dry steak. Moral of the story, you are better off trying a different restaurant in Navy Yard, unless everything else is booked. I guess that says a lot. read more
