In addition to the branch removals, tree shaping and trimming, Matthew took the time to replace an old cable on our biggest locust that he saw was cutting into the bark with a superior cabling system. He and his crew were all so helpful, pleasant, and respectful of the yard and garden. Despite all the heavy branches that needed trimming, there was no damage to anything and cleanup was above and beyond. Not only was there a strange man in my yard, but also, he was not wearing either a mask or gloves. He had to open a closed gate to enter my property. He was extremely insulting when asked to remove himself from my property. My neighbor came over to explain that he had hired an arborist to look at some trees and the arborist "impulsively" decided to enter my backyard without my permission. My neighbor asked if I would accept an apology and explanation from the company, but while my neighbor was explaining the situation to me, the people from Budget Tree Service had driven of. My neighbor said that the company would be calling me to apologize. Claudia called and left a message saying that she understood that her company now had permission to enter my property in the future. I called her back and said that I was quite surprised by her call as I had been expecting her company to be calling to apologize to me. She said "for whatever has you upset, I apologize even though I don't even know why I'm apologizing." This company illegally trespassed on my property, and then had the nerve to be rude about it. Claudia has claimed that my neighbor gave her estimator permission to be on my property. My neighbor maintains that he did not. It doesn't matter in any case as my neighbor does not own my property and does not have the ability to grant permission to anyone to be on my property. I was home at the time, and a simply knock on the front door would have been all it took had they wanted to ask for permission to enter my gated yard. Claudia was so insulting during the phone call, that I have informed Budget Tree Services that should I find them on my property again, I will call the police.

We were in stop and go traffic on the Woodinville-Duvall road and he was behind me. I didn't go for 2 seconds so he honked. I waved to him. He then began yelling slurs and names out the window at me, flipping me off, and what was really scary was he was driving what looked like 3 inches my the back of my car. Every time we stopped he would scream that I was a "f---king b--ch". I am a teacher and was literally saying "I hope you have a good day!! We aren't going anywhere and you are being very aggressive! you need to stop!" What he didn't realize was that the name of the company "wizard" was in greenish blue letters on the side of the truck WITH a arborist trailer in the back. Anyway. If someone wants work done by someone with this character, then go for it. He is not a nice person and truly was acting irrational on the road. ***edited to add context: this was completely stopped. The car moved up about 5 feet ahead again within 2 seconds. Jacob, at Stump Grinding Northwest, was quick to respond on Yelp (5/3/26) and by text after I sent him my information. He set expectations up clearly that he'd try to make room to stop by for a free estimate the same week and would let me know 1-3 days in advance. He also informed us that he typically gets the work done the same day if the quote is accepted - nice! I heard from Jacob on Wednesday, 5/6/26, that he had space for our estimate the following day. He confirmed he'd be there in the morning and sent us an eta of 8:30 around 8:00. The quote was fair and he explained the reasons for the range. A little after starting the grinding, Jacob had me come down to look at the progress. He showed me the depth he was going to (~8in) and the massive, melon-sized, carbide teeth-breaking rocks he was dealing with in the earth. He passed along some info about stump grinding blades and then continued his work. We checked out the final product together around 10am, and he said he'd come back if we found any remaining stump not to our liking. Jacob said he'd send an invoice later that day with the charges. Jobs with him always start with a site visit, where he looks over the work that needs to be done, makes suggestions, offers advice, and ultimately provides an estimate for the work that needs to be done. His estimates are always accurate (I've never had one go over), and his team is thorough in the work they do. They do all manner of tree work, including removal (including large trees), thinning, even sculpting and trimming. His team is also trained to scale large trees with climbing equipment, so they can thin and trim even in very tallest of trees. I will continue to use Urban Arborist into the future, and highly recommend this local business.
