My family of six thoroughly enjoyed tonight's dinner from Little Tokyo. We shared a variety of dishes and appetizers and all were tasty and filling for a reasonable price. I have lived here 7 years and this is by far the best sushi and hibachi in Buford. Excellent service, with a wonderful atmosphere provided by the couple who own it. Authentic quality with heaping amounts of food. Way better than going to a Japanese steakhouse, and much better priced. read more

The night started with a friendly waitress in a mostly empty restaurant. The place smelled like cheap multipurpose cleaner. We ordered some appetizers, they were ok, the tequeños de carne especially. Then the entrees; my wife's ramen had zero flavor, literally unseasoned chicken floating in cloudy water with clumped noodles and a mundane boiled egg. My alleged Peruvian ceviche tasted like it was seasoned with lemon scent detergent; no cilantro, very little fish, but lots of corn... the Nikkei roll was bland, nothing special about it, thankfully the fish seemed fresh. It's a little misleading to put a branded soy bottle on the table filled with an obviously cheaper product. And then for dessert we had a roach do a little dance for us right on the table. We let the waitress know and all we got in return was "sorry, our manager had an exterminator come", which is just odd to say and adds to my wonder on why my ceviche tasted the way it did. She gladly handed us the full bill for our wonderful experience. Expensive experience might I add, this place is not cheap. Must be the exotic roaches. read more

If you are going to be closed, it would be nice if you would change your recording and say so instead of "we are open till 10". I just drive 7 miles out of the way to pick up plates for my family; which by the way, was planned so I could spend time with my first grandson! WOW! I will never need to go to a hibachi grill again knowing that this place exists! It also has amazingly good sushi. They have a wide variety of sushi rolls and the ingredients were so fresh and the rolls are quite generous! My friend got the sushi and it was more beautiful than any other I've seen in our area...and maybe in Atlanta. I got the hibachi steak meal and MAN, the fried rice that came with it was fresh from the pan and so dang good. The steak was tender and juicy and even the veges were so fresh and flavorful. Experience: So far- extremely rude. Rudest service ever, actually. Add terrible English to that and we have a winner. Maybe they just didn't like me. Threw my menu down, snappy responses, and overall unhelpful. Looked mad that I wanted steamed rice... Extremely rude throughout the meal and stared at me angrily as I left a 15% tip. Ambience: Small restaurant that smells like fried food, kinda dingy, covered in trash from local kids' sports teams they support. Had Japanese soccer on, which was actually nice. Food: Spicy tuna was good, hopefully it was real fish. Crunch roll was way too sweet, kind of a gross aftertaste. Rice tasted like spite. Overall a terrible experience and waste of $15. Little Tokyo is my go to if my boyfriend and I can't figure out what we are going to have for dinner. It's right down the street and always delicious! We have never eaten in the restaurant but we get take out all the time! The fried rice is by far my favorite of any! The yum yum sauce that comes with it is a must! Some times we order the teriyaki chicken meal and it is plenty to split if you add an additional salad and a miso soup! Even more often we get 3 or 4 of their sushi rolls and fried rice! We haven't ordered a sushi roll that we did not enjoy! The lady and man that run this restaurant are great! They have always been very friendly and they recognize their regulars when they walk in the door! The fried rice here is amazing. Not sure why it's different from others, but it is awesome. And don't forget to smother it in their seafood/yum yum/crack sauce. The best combination of rice and sauce I have ever had. It is hard to beat their chicken teriyaki lunch special for $6.50 as well. My only complaint is that when I sometimes call ahead for takeout, they usually don't start cooking it until I get there... Moved into a neighborhood up the street from this place and was told how I needed to try it ASAP and it does not disappoint. My family has eaten both at the location and done take out and always have good experiences. Food doesn't take long to cook usually, never too busy but always someone ordering and a tv to watch while you eat if that's your thing. If I had to say one con for this place is that the teriyaki chicken is never consistent. It's always good don't get me wrong, but it's like someone different is cooking it every time. The food here is fantastic. Weekends are always busy, so be prepared to wait. It's a true family business, husband and wife team, he cooks, she waits (she seems grumpy but she's really not, she's super nice.) We love the teriyaki shrimp, the fried rice, and all the sushi is divine. Ive never had anything I didn't like here. If you call ahead for take out it's usually ready in 10 minutes. We go here quite alot and love their food. Unfortunately tonight will probably be the last. We waited an hour for 3 sushi rolls and received several "I'm sorry" for the slow service. We also watched a table who arrived after us finish their meal and pay before ours came. Then when we got the bill and asked to have it reduced because of the very long wait, the waitress pretended not to understand english. I love this place....Its such a great hole in the wall that you would just drive by. But dont...go in and sit down. Yes they will bring you a menu and serve you at the table. I noticed the people that do frequent the place know the owners...husband cooks, wife serves and son visits and watches tv or is doing his homework. The food is great for the price and you get lots of it. I have had the sushi and the teppan dinners. And being from Hawaii I dont ever think sushi can live up to what it is there but they do a pretty good job for where they are. I honestly feel their sushi is as good a kiku or shogun and thats not saying a lot for the big restaurants but for a quick afordable meal this is the place.
