One of the best meals we had in Waikīkī! It was so good that we went back twice. The whole family loved the tasty chicken. It was crispy with a light sauce that had the perfect balance of sweet and savory. We also loved the oxtail. The tangy dipping sauce it came with was delicious, and the broth was packed with flavor. Great portions, especially the tasty chicken. Everyone and their mama was ordering and taking home the lemon crunch cake, so of course we had to try it. It was delicious! My sons also ordered the furikake ahi and the burger, but they preferred the oxtail and the chicken. Service was A++.
Braised pork was tender with lots of gravy along with brown rice and macaroni salad in a separate container. The loco moco had an excellent char on the burger and nice rice and gravy mix with the egg. Food is solid and service is good. Suggestion that the take out section (left side) be clearly marked as it may seem like you can just order, pay and sit down wherever you want. Only the tables near the bowling area have signs that say reserved for sit down guests. The sit down side could have a host at the front rather than depending on whichever server is available. If all servers are busy, it makes it appear that no one is there to seat you at all.

Only reviewing this based on dessert although I have had their tasty chicken which I would give a 4 star. It's located in a stip mall - I can see parking can become an issue depending on the time of day. The food was really good, the service was great. Definitely coming back and trying some of the other items.

Tried this spot for the first time while visiting Hawaii, and it was exactly the comfort food I needed after a full day of excursions! I ordered the oxtail soup and the two-combination plate with tasty chicken/kalbi. Everything was so flavorful, and the meat was incredibly tender. Both dishes were amazing! Came here for lunch during our trip to Oahu. It's been one the "list" in the past but finally got a chance to try it out. Located inside of a Bowling Alley, Aiea Bowl also has a restaurant that was featured on Diners, Dine ins, and Drives. I'm hesitant with any recommendation from DDD because the others I've tried haven't been great BUT Aiea Bowl's food did not disappoint. I went with combo that came with their fried chicken and loco moco. While the burger patty could've used more seasoning, the portion size was massive and the gravy was hella good. The fried chicken though, easily the star of the show. So damn good. My partner got the oxtail soup, which was alright. To end the meal we got one of their crunch cake, and I wasn't even hungry but we crushed this. Safe to say we enjoyed it. The service here was great. I think the prices match the portions here. It's definitely a place I would never leave hungry lol. Would I eat here again? Definitely! read more
Went on 4th of July with no reservations. Was able to get a lane with no wait time. Paid about $75 for 3 bowlers for 1 hour. It was cosmic bowling. The price was crazy! Very expensive. Shoes were included in the cost. The shoes were newer and clean. The computer screen at your lane to set up your bowlers was really easy to navigate. Not complicated like back in the day. You're able to request the bumpers on the computer screen when setting up your bowlers. There's also ramps for the ball that kids can use, usually located in the corner off to the side. I come here every time we vacation in Oahu. It's the true local Hawaiian food experience. The tasty chicken, kalbi and oxtail soup is a must order. No exceptions. The lemon crunch cake if you have room. Unfortunately, the oxtail was very fatty this time. read more

For our large reunion, we met at Aiea Bowl, where you can bowl and eat Hawaiian food. What a combo! Before ordering, our locals coached us on ordering the Oxtail Soup, Tasty Chicken (fried chicken with Korean sauce), and Boneless Marinated Kalbi. In the past when I've ordered oxtail soup (I'm talking to you Tip Top Cafe in Kaua'i), it was bland, but AB's totally changed my mind about oxtail soup which I wouldn't hesitate to order again. In fact, everything we tried was wonderful and I look forward to eating here again. As if the food wasn't enough, our locals ordered the pièce de résistance of a whole 7-10 layer chocolate fudge cake, and slices of strawberry cake and lemon cake. As an avid baker, I typically do not care for other people's cakes, but admittedly, AB makes some pretty good cakes. read more

For a recent life milestone, friends wanted to celebrate at a place that was casual and fun so Aiea Bowl fit the bill. We had such a fun time and I'm amazed in all the years living here I never made it in. It's located right in Aiea, in the highest level of the shopping center. It's easy to park here with plenty of stalls and other little restaurants nearby. It's a super traditional bowling alley, and kept clean and bright. They have lots of lanes, quick and cheap shoe rental ($6), plus the restaurant and bar inside. The food line and alcohol line are separate, but both seemed to move pretty quickly. Prices are reasonable, lots of local food choices like fried chicken and noodles, plus salads and other pupu for sharing. They have lots of shared balls in different weights. They offer bumpers and ramps for the keiki. We all had such a fun time with two hours of rental. I'll definitely be back next time I want to bowl. (First review for 2026) read more

I've been going here for years, mainly for their food. I always get the oxtail soup and it is always delicious. You get a good portion of rice (option for brown), ox tail, shiitake mushrooms, peanuts and bok choys. The broth is consistently delicious alongside their dipping sauce for the meat. It's unfortunate with everything these days that everything is more expensive. It use to be under $20, and now a bowl of ox tail is approaching $30!!! The staffs are friendly and depending on what time you come there, because it is very popular can get quite busy, staff members may not be able to come around and check on you too often. Bring a sweater because it can get quite cold in there. Also it can get noisy especially if there are a lot of bowlers there. I'll keep coming here for the food but if the prices keep going up, I may have to find a different place. Would of gave it a 5/5 but had to knock down a star due to the price. read more

We were seated under the AC-so bring a coat-at the smallest table by the bathroom and bowling check-in even though the place was empty. It's loud and feels like a school cafeteria really. The Alley Combination Plate! Boneless Kalbi and Tasty Chicken with two scoops brown rice and tossed salad! Our favorite combination plate here. We share the plate for lunch and we still end up taking home leftovers! Tasty garlic and sweet shoyu flavored chicken bites that are moist inside and crispy and saucy skin on the outside. The boneless Kalbi is flavorful and range from chewy to tender pieces. The tossed salad has a nice non-descript dressing. Very simple salad, but a needed side to complement the chicken and Kalbi. We ordered take out dessert for later. A slice of the famous lemon crunch cake. Today's slice of cake was a bit on the dry side. Service is generally attentive unless it gets busy. Then you will need to flag a server for water refills, take out container, and the bill. A local restaurant with tasty food. A bit noisy as it is a bowling alley lol. read more

Best fried chicken on the island and it's not even close! Their boneless galbi is super flavorful too! The whole meal in general is heavy fair warning some come hungry like after a beach day or a hike. Mac salad is great, and I ordered brown rice just to kinda balance out the meal. Such a happy and vibrant experience welcoming us with the momentum of a busy rainy day. If lanes are available you get seated quickly if not you receive a little button that vibrates to call you up and they send a text message as well. Don't forget to try out their menu at the restaurant right next to the lanes; they have the BEST lemon crunch cake on the island- highly recommended! We had a blast with one hour lane we played two games between the 3 of us; we laughed and taunted and we came out with new memories. Why do all bowling alley's have good food? This is my 3rd trip to Hawaii in the past few years because my son moved here, but this is our first trip to Aiea Bowl AND WELL WORTH IT!! I did my Yelp homework and we tried the tasty chicken, the garlic shrimp, the boneless kalbi, the oxtail soup and the hamburger and fries. ALL EXCEPTIONAL! Dessert? OF COURSE!! The pumpkin crunch, the strawberry crunch and the chocolate cake. ALL SPECTACULAR! If you are visiting Oahu, Aiea Bowl is a must visit. This bowling alley has one of the best food in Oahu and is definitely a local favorite. I enjoyed the Mahi Mahi and it was so good. My favorite was the Tasty Chicken which was fried to perfection and definitely a shareable plate. The portions are very large so come hungry. The atmosphere is fun and lively due to you being in a bowling alley. The service is a little slow, but they are very busy so expect to wait awhile. Very chill spot and definitely try it out if you want authentic Hawaiian food. read more

Did you really go to Aiea bowl if you didn't have the oxtail soup?? I was really craving some oxtail soup so I had to go to the best spot in town. The food was incredible, as always! I wish they had the seating in the restaurant area because it was so loud and noisy near the bowling lanes. Also the tables and chairs were dirty when we were seated. I've heard a ton about this place and it is pretty much a right of passage to eat here. A couple friends and I went here for lunch and there was a long wait (15-20 minutes) for the limited number of tables that are in the restaurant. Once they seated us, it was all pretty quick and I ordered the tasty chicken plate. The tasty chicken was pretty good, but don't make the same mistake I did. Order the bowl, not the plate! When I asked the waitress what the difference was between the bowl and the plate, she said that the plate had more food, so logically I thought, 'well I don't want to run out of food. Let me get the plate.' But the plate was a huge amount of food and I ended up not being able to finish everything, even though it was pretty good. The tasty chicken is the signature recipe for this place and is battered, deep fried, and coated with their tasty sauce: if you are in the area, you should definitely stop here! read more

The service was amazing! We were seated really quickly and the servers gave us just enough time to decide what to order, and the food came really fast. I got the mini tasty chicken. The chicken was soooo tasty, definitely lived up to the name. The mac salad was pretty good too. I wish the one scoop of rice with the mini was a little bigger though; I felt like I had so much chicken and not enough rice. Maybe I'll get a regular size next time lol read more

This review is based on a take out order. Friendly staff, ease of ordering, and quick service. Believe the hype! Their Oxtail Soup is Da Bomb! Tender, fall off the bone meat, hearty & rich soup, and just the right type of condiments. My only gripe is that it was pretty expensive given the portion size. Stop by after the swap meet for lunch to have the famous oxtail soup, Korean fried chicken, calamari and yummy slice of cake! Who would have thought a bowling alley can serve yummy food. You know it's good when you find all the locals here and place is packed. Oxtail soup it the spot. Yummy broth and tender meat. I ask for lemon as I like it tangy to balance the sweetness and also comes with ginger and other sauce to add to it along with bowl of rice. Next is the chicken and beef. I love crunch factor and chicken was not dried at all. Just a little too sweet for me along with the beef. I think if you gave it more heat it would be great. Lastly the calamari. Food: Amazing! Will be back again. We went on a Tuesday at about 5:30pm and had to wait for about 15-20 minutes for a table (party had 3 adults 1 baby). Our waiter was sweet and polite. Literally nothing bad to say. Ambiance: Family friendly. We were bummed that we couldn't bowl, but we ate and enjoyed. Would definitely recommend reserving a lane or coming early for Tuesdays since it is half-off bowling. Do they allow cupcakes and cake from outside if celebrating a birthday?
Yes, they do allow outside cakes or cupcakes but they won't refrigerate/store anything.
Can we bring balloons for birthday part?

We bowled tonight for 1 1/2 hrsThe rate is $45 an hr. Wanted to know what the charge is for 30 min ? $45 or half that? I got charged for two hours after looking at my receipt
Normally they charge by the hour, once you pass the one hour mark you automatically get charged for 2, and so on
How's the mahi mahi sandwich?
If you mean the furikake ahi sandwich, it's great!! It comes with 2 pieces of ahi that are gully cooked and covered in furikake. Yum!
I have 20 in our party? Can I make a reservation for tonight?
No, all reservations have to be made 24 hours in advance. If you didn't make reservations, you'll have to show up early and wait for them to fit you in. Sometimes it's quick.
Do they take reservations?

Can we bring outside food?
No, there is a restaurant inside. Their rules state that no outside food is allowed.
Do we have to reserve for bowling or can we walk in?
You can walk in but it is on a first come, first served bases. Reservations are highly recommended and it has to be at least two days in advance plus you will need to put a deposit.
How's the pizza there?
It's excellent!! Check out the Yelp page for the restaurant... It's called The Alley Restaurant at Aiea Bowl. You can find photos and reviews specific to the pizza there. :)
What time does the restaurant close?
**Right now**, it's 9pm every night. If you look up "The Alley" they're the one on Aiea Heights Drive and have their own Yelp page and they're great about keeping their hours updated!
What changes with Corvid? Take out only?
As of today April 1, 2021, they are accepting dine in customers. According to a friend she has dined in a few weeks ago also!
Does this place sell alcohol?
Yes there is a bowling alley bar with beer and basic drinks. The restaurant is more of a coffee shop/diner sort of place.
What's on the pupu menu? Thinking of going on Tues. around 9:30p.
Fries, edamame, or can share some of the tasty chicken, kalbi, or ahi options!
Is there a minimum age to bowl?
They charge about $25 per lane and have Bumper lanes available for those ages 8 and under and are subject to availability
