We had our ELKS CARD (current) electronically on our phone and had matching picture ID and the lady at the desk was just bound and determined not to let us in!!! My recent visit to the Honolulu Elks Lodge 616 was unacceptable and far below the standards I have come to expect as a member of the Kailua lodge. Upon arrival, I mistakenly presented the wrong membership card. The front desk attendant responded by reprimanding me loudly and publicly, accusing me of attempting to use an invalid card rather than offering any assistance or basic courtesy. I was sent to membership services, where no effort was made to verify my status or provide a reasonable solution--only an instruction to leave and return with a different card. The lack of a simple verification process is concerning in itself. While addressing this issue, I witnessed another guest--a man accompanied by his wife and young daughter--being similarly embarrassed at the front desk for the same reason. This suggests a broader issue with how guests are treated, not an isolated lapse in judgment. Although another staff member eventually offered a practical solution that allowed me to verify my membership, the experience up to that point was unnecessarily hostile and unprofessional. Unfortunately, the restaurant service was no better. An older male server with a visible limp ignored direct questions and, when approached a second time, responded abruptly and rudely, telling me to "wait" in an aggressive tone. This behavior was entirely inappropriate. Additionally, an older woman seated nearby felt entitled to get up from her table and interrupt me as I am placing my food order by loudly demanding attention from staff in a disruptive and discourteous manner, further contributing to an uncomfortable and chaotic environment. While one server later attempted to recover the situation with professionalism, the overall experience was marked by hostility, poor communication, and a clear lack of respect toward guests. And the food was not good. For $18 tuna sandwich and lobster bisque I expected more than just a 711 type of meal. I'm beyond disappointed- the only good thing was the view of the ocean and sun was out yesterday. This visit did not reflect the values of courtesy, respect, and fellowship that the Elks organization is meant to uphold. Significant improvements in staff conduct and guest relations are clearly needed. read more

Rude hostess. Came in at 4:30 and it's only open tables they said they couldn't seat us cause they have reservations at 6pm. Must be pretty slow that they can't turn a table of 4 in 1.5hrs. I have been a member here for 10 years and service has always been bad and it only seems to get worse. All 5 star reviews are from visitors coming for the view. As a home club it's pretty terrible. The food at Elks is what you would expect coming from a country club. Not bad, not good, just ok. My pork chops sauce was pretty salty, while my boyfriend's lamb chop sauce was pretty sweet. The seared ahi was good so I would recommend that. Elks restaurant is good for large parties, if you're a member of course, however be aware that they do have events on some days so it can get pretty crowded & also pretty loud. If you're looking for something more intimate I wouldn't recommend Elks, but I do see the appeal if you're a member & are in Waikiki as a tourist. read more

From numerous birthday parties to my high school graduation party- they were all held here. I recently came here for lunch with my dad and while the service was great, the food was really not great at all. For pupus we got the sashimi and spicy ahi poke - which was served with sweet potato chips- probably the best dish we had! The fish n' chips on the other hand... the battered fish wasn't crispy at all and the fries were rather sad. I'm a fries girl, and I rarely leave fries on the table - but this time I had 3-5 fries and went "ehh, not worth it". We also had the nicoise salad, the salmon on it was good but the acid level on everything else was too much- olives, cappers, and HUGE pieces of tomato on top of a costco spring mix that I know all too well. The service was amazing though, our server Kelci was so sweet and kept on refilling our waters long after our meal. I hadn't seen my dad in nearly 4 months and we had a lot to catch up with so it was so nice that since it's a club setting that we didn't feel rushed to leave right after our meal. The views were absolutely incredible, nothing beats unobstructed views of the waves. The restaurant has that open air concept so you get that indoor-outdoor feel. Which also means birds fly in and are pretty confident and will try to get your food if you're not super assertive. Tip: Guest parking is now $8 for the day read more

Elks Club, couldn't ask for a more perfect venue for our College Reunion Gala Banquet! Not knowing exactly how large a banquet room we would need we reserved the larger one. And even though the smaller one could have housed our smaller number, the room ended up being perfect for our group of 50ish. We had enough room to set up a nice reception and sign in area. We had room to have prizes and grab bags in a separate area. There was room for our slide show presentation. And besides the buffet setup and dining tables, we even had room for a hula lesson! Loved that the banquet room, located on the second floor had an extended oceanfront patio for group photos and viewing of the Friday fireworks off the Hilton Hawaiian property across the water. And the food... chosen was a Hawaiian banquet menu which was served in abundance: green salad, lomi salmon, chicken long rice, white rice, laulau, kalua pig, haupia, pineapple with addon to the menu of mahi in butter caper sauce and teriyaki chicken. We were invited by one of our new friends that is a member of this club. We met him in Hawaii, and I heard so much about Elks clubs both sides of the story. My experience at Elks club in Waikiki is very nice plus the view here is very romantic, beautiful with the warm sunset. Known to most as the "Elks Club" it's a place or shall I say chapter as there are lots of Elks Lodges or clubs around the country. I believe there is over 2100 active one and Hawaii is number 616 with over a 100 years of deep history. They do charitable acts of kindness like visit sick ones in hospitals, help provide people for charity events, donations to causes and etc. The views from the patio are amazing as it sits along the ocean. Well these views seemed to be dampened with our waiter (I believe his name is James). Right from the start, he had a bad attitude as he mumbled under his breath about us. I was like wow! But hey everyone has a bad day so I will let it go as it was my first time coming here. He was trying to rush us and sounded disappointed when only two in our small party ordered something besides water. You could tell in his voice and attitude all throughout the time we were there that he wasn't a happy camper. The whole time in my mind I was debating on how much tip I should leave for this rude person. When I asked for the bill, I was shocked that it came with a automatic 18% tip. I was like hmmmm no wonder he could act the way he was acting as he was going to get a decent tip. I feel sorry for people who come here as well as the management because I for one don't care to come back here and will tell the person who got us in (you need someone to be a member to get you in or have a membership to eat here) that we can go somewhere else. I say this because, while the view is awesome, the service was subpar and the food was only ok. The batter was loaded on thick on the fish while the fish was small and the fries weren't fresh tasting. Pretty sad if you ask me. For the last day of our class reunion activities, we had a gathering here poolside. Thanks to our classmates with memberships, we were able to reserve some tables. It was a lovely venue and thankfully so was the weather. Having just woken up not much earlier from the previous night's bash, I wanted something light to eat. Unfortunately breakfast ended at 11:00 and brunch was no longer being served since it was not the first or third Sunday of the month. My friend recommended the hamburger, but I decided on the tuna sandwich which was the wrong choice! It very bland and mediocre. Talk about no frills! It consisted of bread which was a bit dry around the edges and tuna mixed with mayo. Salt, pepper, a lettuce leaf or slice of tomato, anything would have made it better! Thankfully it did come with fries which were ok. I did enjoy the margarita that came with a slice of pineapple and a cherry which was perfect for relaxing in front of the beach watching the outrigger canoes buoy up and down in the water. Loved that we could jump right in the water afterwards! No more happy hour! Drink prices have soared! The bar was almost empty on a Saturday night. The drink prices have decimated their bar business. The restaurant wasn't busy either. I walked in on a Saturday evening at 6pm without a reservation and was seated immediately. Entress have more than doubled in price because the menu is now ala cart. A side of asparagus and mashed potatoes will cost $28.00. Short ribs with two sides previously costs $26.00, now $54.00. Imagine paying $15.00 for a loaded baked potato! So sad! The short ribs were delicious. The pork chops were tough and inedible. This is club food, not fine dining. I didn't view the lunch or bar menu. I'm assuming those prices have increased as well. The menus posted on line don't reflect the current prices. The club should be more transparent and update them. Key Details About the Elks Club: Purpose: To promote the welfare and happiness of members, cultivate good fellowship, and practice charity and justice. How are you promoting the happiness of members when you make your prices unaffordable to many members? This organization is a non-profit. It seems that the club no longer takes that into consideration. I would reccomend checking social media and visit one of the many happy hours with discounted food and drinks. First of all I am so grateful to be a member of this charitable organization located in the most perfect location imaginable. With that said, four of us had a delightful lunch with an amazingly friendly and accommodating server (Storm, not Stormy). Today is the Juneteenth holiday so the parking lot was packed (my friend had to drive around & around until someone moved & I waved her down). We ordered our lunches & enjoyed everything while catching up on news. About halfway through lunch, Till (he's a jack of all trades) asked if any of us were parked in the mkt within a sticker or pass because they were going to call the tow trucks for those illegally parked. I went here for Father's Day brunch. So my review is only on that. The entrance is nice and the bathrooms were clean. As far as the buffet, there's almost no vegetarian options. I am trying to eat a more pescatarian diet, but I'm currently pregnant and should avoid sausages, raw fish, and moderately eat bacon. Which was absolutely difficult here. I gave up and just ate whatever (minus the raw fish). The dessert bar was terrible. They should focus on a few good things over bad. Don't give us dry cake and brownies that are difficult to cut with a knife! The prime rib and baby back ribs were very good. I liked those despite not wanting to eat them. The potatoes were also okay. The drink service was slow. The coffee on tap was empty. I can't say they would get above 2 stars for that area. Also it took forever to be seated. The view was beautiful, though. Very nice ocean view. Today the sea smelt clean, so it was very pleasant. 5 stars for that aspect. Overall, 3 stars due to mediocre service, limited options, and an offensive dessert bar. Oh, and the guy smoking in the parking lot who didn't notice it was blowing right down wind. My longtime friend is an Elk on the mainland. On her most recent visit to Honolulu she invited me to enjoy lunch at the Elks Lodge with her and her husband. The weather that afternoon was gorgeous and the ocean view was spectacular! I've lived here all my life and am never tired of seeing our blue ocean waters. What surprised me was how good the food and the service was! My turkey avocado club sandwich was one of the best I've ever had. But what really made my day was how welcoming everyone was. From the nice ladies at the front lobby desk , to the friendly, efficient restaurant wait staff, everyone embodied the spirit of aloha! Mahalo! Great job! read more

I recently sought out joining the Waikiki Elks Lodge because of their Oceanfront workout area that's air conditioned. I quickly found out that the gym was not the only shining star of the lodge. The Waikiki Elks Lodge house wonderful wine tasting and other social events that benefit the Elks National Foundation. There's also live entertainment typically Wednesdays through Sundays, five days a week! At least two other present members must sponsor you from membership, but since they have an over 5000 member base, it was very easy to find someone who was already a member. The Initiation fee was $2,000 and everything else, parking, use of the gym, the locker room with showers sauna and steam room are all price à la carte at about $100 each making the annual membership about $700. I'm proud to be a member and try my best to bring friends to join the wonderful events at the Elks Lodge Waikiki! read more

The Elks lodge has one of the most breathtaking views of the ocean. The restaurant I've eaten at a couple of times has the perfect backdrop of the sunset and of course my favorite paddlers going across the water. We were fortunate to dine here with family for lunch on our last day in town before heading back to the continent. We ended up meeting my Aunt and Uncle there who were already seated in the perfect table to enjoy the view. Our waitress took our drink orders pretty promptly, explained the specials, and gave us time to look over the menu for our food. Since we had much to talk about it didn't concern us too much with the wait time. But as our lunch continued we started to notice how much time would pass between receiving our drinks, dishes, and then requesting for the dessert menu. As much as we enjoyed our lunch, the view, and the company, it was disappointing how noticeable the time it took for our dishes to come out, particularly our dessert. We would still come back, and we understand changing a menu can come with its own kinks that need to be worked out. Overall, we enjoyed our meal here and hope to come here again the next time we make it back! We look forward to trying more dishes on the menu, hopefully more of the kinks can be worked out! read more

Though it was super windy and overcast today but when the sun does peek thru it's looks so nice. The pool was empty and ohhh how fun it would've been to just jump in and relax. I had the burger with fries. Fries were good but a tad bit overcooked and got cold quickly. The room was super cold or could be from where I was sitting in the direct ac flow.
