this is an all you can eat sushi. the service was so slow that we had to wait for 40minutes for our order to arrive. i complained to the manager and he was unapologetic. i told him that the 2 female servers did not have any sense of urgency whenever we follow up for the order. i would see them chat first and giggle with each other before she went ahead to check the status of our order. it only takes 20minutes for our brain to realize we are full already..imagine we have to wait for 40minutes for our orders ( we were in the middle of our meal already). Hikari sushi is way better than this place! read more

I just left this establishment. Typically they are pretty good. However tonight, the food was of the poorest quality. My server was very nice and attentive. I specifically asked for no masago or avocado on my baked salmon roll. They messed up twice, o had to send back the baked salmon rolls two separate times. Even on the third roll they gave, the order was still wrong. They had put a slice of bamboo in the roll. I also order seared salmon rolls as well as a regular salmon roll. They left the skin on. I spoke with the hostess about this and all she said was that they were busy tonight due to events like FIFA and graduation in the area. However, operational issues are not my issue as the customer. That is not an excuse for a mishap in quality. This is not fast food pricing. I have eaten at Aikan in Northridge, Pasadena and LongBeach, I have never had issues like this even on a holiday. read more

Finally tried this spot and left thoroughly disappointed. We ordered two bento boxes: the steak teriyaki was tough and chewy, and the chicken katsu was a thin, overcooked cutlet. The marinated beef was forgettable, honestly, Yoshinoya does it better. The Philadelphia roll we added was tiny and overpriced. A meal full of regrets. read more

Went to aiken in burbank. We go 6 people to celebrate our birthday. I dont understand why they automatically add 18% . Im as is so against tipping. But when they add automatically pist me off. I wish I knew before we ordered but my son did not inform me. I would have left. Tipping is my decision, my choice depending on the service we receive. It is not their choice. Very disappointing and I will never come again. read more

Solid sushi for the price - no overly fishy tasting rolls. Reason I gave three stars is due to the poor ventilation in the restaurant. My brother and I continuously experienced burning, tearing eyes, as if we were chopping onions. Not sure if the vents were just facing our way, such that we were getting all of the onion juices from the kitchen to us, but it made for an unenjoyable experience. read more

Haven't been here in a while, decided to stop in and see what's new. Price went up a bit, but still worth it. Waited about 20 minutes to get seated. Not too bad. Ordered some premium items--everything came out hot and fresh. Quality was still really good. They had draft beer for a dollar on Father's Day. That was a nice surprise. A few items didn't come out, but honestly, I was too full to care. Left happy and full. Will be back again for sure. read more

I've been coming to this Aikan for years now, ever since they first opened, and I personally like it better than the Burbank location. Diego was our server today and he was very attentive, answered all of our questions, and was always there whenever we needed something. Everything is made fresh and it's obvious from the quality of the food. The items also come out super fast. One of my absolute favorites is the jalapeño shrimp, it's SO good, and the jalapeño sauce always tastes fresh. I also usually order sashimi and it's always fresh and on point every single time. It's definitely worth doing AYCE because the menu is huge and there are so many options to try. Their miso soup is also really good. They're always running out because people love it, but they're super quick about making more fresh on the spot. The times I've been there, it's usually not too crazy busy. The longest I've ever waited for a table was about 40 minutes, and that only happened once. Overall, great service, fresh food, and consistently a really good experience every time I go. read more

This place has become my favorite sushi restaurant, and I've tried Maru, Hikari, sushi by jyn, neo and all the restaurants AYCE in the valley. Flavor: everything is so fresh and flavorful, there's a good range of sushi-rice, their AYCE offer many options and the list of appetizers it's pretty big. The portions: usually when you go to an AYCE and you get rolls they give you 6-8 pieces that in reality it doesn't give you the option to try more of the menu, Aikan serves 4-6 pieces and it's perfect! Service: every single time all the staff have been amazing, very helpful, patient and friendly. The restaurant looks brand new, has booths, bar and regular chairs to sit. Come with time because it's always popping and full, so usually the wait time goes from 30min to 1 hr. But they have a text system and they let you know via text and call when your order is ready. If I take my time with the review it's because it deserves it. Btw I order more than what's on the pics but I forgot to take pictures. Truly Amazing! read more

11/22/2024 - This is my first time to visit Aikan Sushi for Premium All-You-Can-Eat (PAYCE) at $40.99 per person with a sit-down lunch. The services are ver good, randomly and often, waiters and waitress took away many empty plates from each guest's table. Adding $5 for 9 premium dishes are worth of your money. Without offering those 9 premium dishes in the menu, I would have to give this venue a 4-star rating. This is one of the five-chain Japanese Sushi restaurants in Los Angeles. Note: On the upcoming Black Friday, 11/29 to 11/31, this restaurant offers a free beer and a few premium items for free for all PAYCE customers. I may consider visiting it again to celebrate the Holiday Seasons. read more

I will always pay the premium to get sushi here over any other location vs SCV. Years later and the sushi and service is even better, even though it was already great. They updated their menu since i last reviewed and it's nice having the additional items. It's usually always busy here but the staff does a great job keeping the food and drinks flowing quickly lol. read more

Came here for happy hour, did not disappoint this sushi loving person! I love to eat all kinds of different rolls, but usually fill up way too fast, to try as many as I want. With happy hour they give smaller portions, which works excellent for me. They seat you fast, and get your order in even faster. This place has a good overall sushi vibe. Came here on Saturday for a late lunch. "All you can eat" is an instant turnoff for me, but they also have a regular menu. We were seated at the sushi bar without delay. Going over the menu, and doing the math, it was evident that we were going to order enough sushi that we were going to be in the same price range as just doing "all you can eat" ($42.99 for dinner). And while the portions are smaller, the food is otherwise the same. So we went with the all you can eat menu. The upside of this, is that we ordered a much broader range of food than we normally would. Appetizers, sushi, sashimi, rolls, rice-free rolls... all the stuff. The service is great, although it's the first time sitting at a sushi bar where there was no interaction with the sushi "chefs". But the wait staff is fantastic. The popcorn scallop appetizer was a favorite as were the stuffed muscles. The food is 4 stars. It's good, but not really good. The rolls are drowning in sauce. The sashimi was our favorite. We'll come back, but I think we'll stay away from the rolls. Overall, a fun and enjoyable meal and, as I say, we'll return. I did not manage to get a picture of everything. read more

The lemon on the side was a small touch that really added to this appetizer We both opted out of getting a seasoned egg with our ramen (not our vibe). But we each ordered a couple of toppings. My friend got spinach and black garlic oil. I got bamboo shoot and the garlic/onion crisps. I know the common complaint is that the added costs of toppings tend to add up quickly, but the portions provided were honestly very generous and I didn't feel gypped for paying an additional $1.1 per topping. The ramen itself: I forgot how GREAT the broth is. It's silky, rich, soothing and the overall flavor profile had so much depth. Had we not gotten a couple of other items off the menu, I would have inhaled my ramen so fast because it's THAT DELICIOUS. I'm a server myself, so I really don't like leaving negative reviews, but this was honestly a very disappointing experience because none of the sushi plates were good. Not a single one. One of the appetizers, the mushrooms with steak, also had a bad taste and didn't seem fresh. To make things worse, when we were leaving, I started feeling nauseous and felt like I was going to throw up. I felt sick the entire drive home, which made me even more concerned about the quality and freshness of the food. I've been to the Ventura location before, and it was absolutely amazing, so I was really surprised by how different the quality was at this location. I don't know what happened, but the food quality here was extremely disappointing.

Just writing a review about my personal experience here. Food was good but the service really killed the whole vibe of the meal. Ordered the first round and all the appetizers came. Literally finished like 7 appetizers and now all pumped up for some salmon sushi(the reason why we come to AYCE) and whatever else sushi I ordered. Was waiting a good while till I noticed other people giving their slips and getting there food before us. Was confused so I notified the server which I personally feel she should've realized. 20 minutes later after bringing up the issue, we have still yet to receive our first plate of sushi. At this point, the whole mood of the meal was gone. As a person who loves AYCE, you know the longer you wait, the more your stomach realizes that you are full. Finally got our first half of sushi and it's already been over an hour since we have been seated. It literally took another 15-20 minutes for the second half of my first order of sushi to come out. Note that there is a 2 hour limit to be there. In no way was I trying to cause a scene or be a Karen, but I was just displeased with the whole experience here and had communicated that with the servers that I also told to pass along the message to the manager. The manager comes over and apologizes, but I couldn't tell if he was actually being genuine. In the end, he did say that you can stay past the two hour limit and did give us the premium sushi, but by that time, food is already settled and you're already full. Couldn't even order a second round after waiting so long for food to come out. I'm sure this is not always the experience of many patrons, but this was MY experience and that is why I am writing the review. I'll probably just go to other AYCE sushi like Hikari when I get the craving again. Why would I pay 100 bucks for just food when you also go for the experience/service. It honestly felt like my girlfriend and I did something wrong, but I'm sure that wasn't the issue. There probably was just an error with our order being translated. I recently had the great experience of dining at Aikan Sushi, and it was an absolute delight! From the moment I stepped inside, I was impressed. There were led lights that were blue and shined on the bottom making it look very inviting. But the real star of the show was the food. The miso soup was a perfect introduction to the meal, rich and flavorful without being overly salty. Then came the sushi, and wow! The fish was incredibly fresh, each piece a melt-in-your-mouth experience. The rainbow rolls were a particular highlight, a beautiful explosion of color and taste. In my opinion wait times are considerably long for each sushi, but I think the taste can pay for it. However, there's 3 small caveats. While everything else was fantastic, I would recommend skipping the albacore. It wasn't quite as fresh as the other fish options. Another problem is the bugs, they get very annoying and there is a ridiculous amount of flies, and lastly the rolls are a little to big but I can get past that. Honestly, that's just a few minor blips on an otherwise stellar experience. Overall, Aikan Sushi is a must-visit for anybody who likes sushi. This was my 3rd time here, and the first two times everything was pretty exceptional. Food, service, etc. We came yesterday and the food was remarkable, but man, our server straight up sucked. Super unapproachable, didn't seem to want to help us out and really provided us the bare minimum as it pertains to anything service. We had to ask the manager and other wait staff for a bunch of things, which is fine, but it didn't seem like he wanted to help us and seemed annoyed/avoidant of our table in general. His name was Harrison. A few other things, refills weren't kept up with, there were two times he forgot to put things in that we had ordered, and also copped a passive aggressive attitude when he brought us the wrong thing we had already been waiting 20 minutes for. Not sure if he was having a bad day or what, because all the other waitstaff seemed to want to help us, but honestly, we just came there to have a good time and felt like we were treated like a nuisance by him specifically. read more

I've been noticing Aikan Sushi popping up everywhere lately, and this particular location seems to be top-notch. I started with the squid salad, which was incredibly refreshing and had tender squid. Their appetizer of fried squid was flavorful, but it was a bit overcooked. Maybe they should consider making some changes there. The tempura was hot and crispy, and all the sushi and sashimi were excellent. However, the downside is that every time I visit, they always seem to run out of hamachi kama. I'm not sure if there's a limit on it or something, but it shouldn't be running out in the middle of the day. As a result, I ended up ordering a hot udon to finish off my meal, and it tasted just like the udon you would get from a dedicated udon place. The lemon on the side was a small touch that really added to this appetizer We both opted out of getting a seasoned egg with our ramen (not our vibe). But we each ordered a couple of toppings. My friend got spinach and black garlic oil. I got bamboo shoot and the garlic/onion crisps. I know the common complaint is that the added costs of toppings tend to add up quickly, but the portions provided were honestly very generous and I didn't feel gypped for paying an additional $1.1 per topping. The ramen itself: I forgot how GREAT the broth is. It's silky, rich, soothing and the overall flavor profile had so much depth. Had we not gotten a couple of other items off the menu, I would have inhaled my ramen so fast because it's THAT DELICIOUS.
