Such a hole in a wall hidden gem!! 10/10 would recommend! Super authentic. Almost want to gatekeep but gotta let my fellow foodies know about this spot +located in a plaza with korean market; plenty of parking available. +can reserve the standard way by calling but they also have website to make your reservation online +super authentic izakaya that also serves fresh authentic sushi! We actually came here 2 years ago and ate mostly tapas and some sushi and it was amazing! Today we opted for straight omakase and did the true omakase where chef won't stop until you tell the chef you're full and satisfied. Obviously price will be heftier than their smaller omakase menu because chef adds more dishes than usual but it's so worth it!! Highly recommend if you're not a picky eater. I just had 8 appetizers, 1 meat entree (lamb chop), and 15 nigiris for only $163 before tax and tip, which is amazing!! The appetizers included authentic Japanese tapas like nasu no ohitashi (cold fried eggplant simmered in dashi broth) to sashimi to even crab arancini and they were all phenomenal! Nigiri's included standard yellow halibut salmon to even pricey items like sweet shrimp, abalone, and hida wagyu sushi and they were all SO GOOOOOD. I'm drooling thinking about my meal. Oh also did I mention their homemade pudding is such an awesome way to finish the meal? Pudding isn't too sweet and it was delishhhhh. +the waitresses there are both super nice and attentive. It's so cute that they have a lot of regulars there and they all sit at the counter and mingle with each other. You know the restaurant is doing something right when they're so loved not just for their food +bar uerukmamu also has interesting tapas like grilled black cod liver (which tastes similar to monk fish liver but less fishy) and other things. If you're not a picky eater I highly recommend being adventurous and trying everything because they do everything so well! +honorable mention is that they also serve shochu that has slight shiso flavor. This was so trippy but I enjoyed it! 1000% recommend checking it out if you're in the area or making a trek for it!

Another amazing experience, tasted the salmon toro, uni from Hokkaido and Santa Barbara, the Japanese yam fries, and more!

Good little hidden Gem in San Fernando Valley. Located next to Greenland Korean Supermarket, this little Japanese place seats approximately 16-20, so make reservation online. We arrive with our reservation and was promptly seated, with 3 other tables having reserved signs on them, we were greeted by 2 Japanese waitress as well as the Japanese chef. The wall behind the kitchen has a full array of sake, too many to count. The place had a special / niche atmosphere. Although they had Omasake (Chef's choice for about $120 which is very reasonable we decided to order our self's this time. We ordered the belly sashimi place (Salmon belly, yellow tail belly, and Toro) $39. The sweet shrimp ($13x2), the special #1 (Tuna, yellow tail, salmon), Uni 2 way $37, and a few different tapas to try out. Our favorite was the Santa Barbara Uni, the Hokkaido uni wasn't as sweet. Over all, a very pleasant experience with quality food. Will definitely come back and try other things.

This is my new favorite sushi spot. Came in on a Thursday with no reservation right when they opened. Tables did quickly fill up so I recommend making a reservation.Tried the sake flight ($26) and omakase ($120) and really enjoyed everything they served. The service was wonderful and staff was very kind. They have an insane selection of sake and also offered seasonal selections which were fantastic. I could not pick a favorite since they were all so good. The omakase is about 10 courses and I found it to be filling. There is a cheaper omakase lite that is $85 and about 7 courses. All the fish was very fresh and they do not cheap out on portioning. The cuts of belly were larger than any other restaurant I've tried. It also included A5 wagyu that was outstanding. It's a small place with a very cozy vibe that promotes conversation. Huge fan of the jazz music they play as well. Will definitely be coming back again.

What a hidden gem! Who would of known there's a fantastic izakaya in the Valley. From the outside Bar Uerukamu doesn't even look like a restaurant until you walk in. Reservation is a must because and tables are limited, maybe total of eight tables. They also has a nice sake list. Food that was ordered: Complimentary Cold Soba w/ Fresh Wasabi. Delicious, light and refreshing. Gobo Chips: Good, the only other place that I have eaten this was at Hachi in Torrance. This place does well but I wish they would cut it into small thinner strips. Nasu Miso: Excellent. Fried Aji: Fantastic! perfectly done. The aji batter was nice and light. Ankimo: Outstanding. So rich and creamy. 4 Kinds of Sliverfish Sushi: Delicious. All the fish was fresh and well prepared. Shari was nice and seasoned. Kohada: Delicious: Kohada was well marinated not to vinegary. Iwashi: Delicious: Not as fatty this time of the year but still has the oily and slightly fatty goodness. Karrage Chicken: This was ok. The Karrage was over fried. Tsukume Yuzu Ponzu: Good. First time having chicken tsukume served this way. The tsukume was moist and flavorful. Service: Super friendly and professional. Overall what a great place. I'm definitely a fan of Bar Uerukamu. Even though the food menu is as large as many izakaya places but it's still soild. They also have the special board which I recommend ordering food from too. Until next time.

Went here on a whim and a desire to spend a little more than I usually would on dinner- and they delivered! The Japanese mackerel was to die for, and the cocktail I ordered (don't remember the name) was also very good. It was a personal dining experience, and definitely not easy on the wallet, but worth it for a great experience on a special occasion. The wait staff was very attentive and answered all questions with confidence.

    Trio Toro (Tuna, YellowTail, Salmon)

This is my first time trying out this restaurant but I would go back again. But maybe next time I will order other items that I haven't tried yet. Below are items me and my husband tried tonight. Washington Oyster- Half Shell - fresh, perfect amount sauce. They also added some pickles and seaweed. The presentation GREAT! Price: $7 per piece Rating 8/10 - I know seafood are expensive but I think that the price can be more cheaper. #1 Tuna Yellow, YellowTail, Salmon- very fresh, just enough wasabi, fish to rice ratio is great, perfect amount of soy sauce to the sushi. Price: $14 for three pcs. Fair- I will pay for the quality. Rating: 9/10 Toro Special- very fresh, quality of fish is really awesome! The fish to rice ratio is superb! I like the added roll of ginger on the side to clean our palate every-time we try a variety of sushi. Perfect amount of soy sauce to the sushi as well! This is a must try if you like the toro/belly of the fish. Price: 25.00 for 3 varieties of toro. - Great deal for the quality of fish that they serve. Rating: 10/10 Kara-age Chicken: I like the crunch but this is my least favorite because of how big it is, but I think that I am just used to smaller kaarage portions. The chicken is juicy but can be cooked a little more longer. Doesn't have a lot of batter unlike other kaarage chicken that I've tried which is good because there is enough chicken the flavor is good. Rating : 7/10 Price: $6 for 2 big balls. Kobe Beef: good quality meat, flavorful, I love the fried shallots, there is a touch of smoky flavor to it. A little salty for me( I am not really a fan of sodium) but it was just perfect for my husband Rating: 8/10 Price $15 for two pcs. The service is superb and the servers are knowledgeable!! I also like the ambience and the music background music. A really chill spot. It just a small restaurant but is a hidden gem if you like around the area like us!

Is there an age requirement? I'd like to bring my 13 year old. (She would get her own omakase. She eats everything.)

Reservation is highly recommended. Please call us at 818.578.3999 and leave a message there. We will get back to you to confirm. (For the same day reservation, we might not be able to get back to you until 5:30pm) Thank you!… Read more

    How much is their omakase?

From what I recall, it varies based on the availability of ingredients that night but it's under $100.

Lan, the owner (and our chef, host and server), guided us on how to order. So cute that the QR code menu was made by him. By clicking on the menu item, adding to cart, and pressing order is how we order!! PS You pay after you eat when he comes by with the card scanner. Apple Pay is accepted!! Lan immediately made us feel comfortable by playing ambient music and turning on the TVs in the space. It felt like I was being treated into his household for a meal, that's how personable and sweet it felt!!! I got the mix small sashimi (15 pcs) and enjoyed the melty, juicy and fresh sushi he cut for us. It was high quality and not slimy. There was some citrus accents accompanying it with fresh lime, lemon, and orange on the platter. The salmon mango cup was super fresh and deliciously made. Would love to come back here again to continue to support this hard-working small business owner, I highly recommend a visit!! We spoke to our host that we used to come to the restaurant for some ramen and we are very excited to try the restaurants new my sushi style. Later in our dinner, we would find out that our host, waiter and food runner is the owner!!! The owner, Lan, is currently running the place himself and hopes hire individuals to help him out when customers start coming in and the place gets busy. Food: Tonkatsu Ramen. The ramen was very delicious. It came with pork soup base, crispy fried pork, green onion, onion, half a boiled egg, broccoli and carrots!!! I love broccoli and finding it in my ramen was a first. The broccoli and carrots made the ramen feel more healthy. I found the ingredient a great touch. The crispy pork is what one would expect from a tonkatsu ramen. The broth was tasty and delicious and the noodles was filling. Overall the ramen is worth the try and worth the wait!!! Mixed Small Sashimi. The sashimi was compromised of Fresh salmon, tuna yellowtail sashimi 15 pieces. The salmon had two cuts, fatty and lean. Both were delicious and appetizing!! The tuna was thick, tender and delicious!!! The yellowtail was big wide and had a drizzle of sauce!! I was not able to ask what was in the sauce but nonetheless, it was delicious!!! Complimentary Mango Salmon. This was my favorite food of the night!!! The mango compliments the salmon so well!!! I love mangoes and I love salmon, so together it was AMAZING and Mind blowing!!! It also had avocado which added a nice creamy texture to all three!!! I was not able to find this item on the menu, so I hope next time I return to eat there, it will be available to the public!!! The ambiance as of right now is relaxing with music in the background. But I hope in the near future it becomes busy with a nice line of customers waiting to be seated and fed by Lan and his amazing menu of delicious foods!!! I will most certainly be bringing friends here to have them try themselves!!! FYI, when outside and about to enter. Please listen to the music playing. Its such an amazing touch by Lan with branding his new restaurant!!! Big props to Lan for putting so much work into his restaurant!!!

He knows I love hot pot and instead of our usual 626 hot pot spots, he wanted to choose something new and hip that we've never tried before. He heard from a friend that Tabu Shabu was a good hot pot place so we decided to try it out. The restaurant is located in the corner in a huge plaza, we came on a Friday night and although the plaza was busy, we were able to find a parking spot. Inside the restaurant, you'll either be seated the few tables that they or in the center circular "bar" style seating. It was my first time being at a hot pot place with this style seating, but it was a unique experience. Once seated, we were given menus and quickly asked what we wanted to drink. After the waitress took our order, it took us about 15 minutes for our appetizer to arrive. We ordered spicy edamame and a cucumber salad. The menu was very basic and I wasn't impressed with the broth selection. The standard broth was traditional kombu (literally water with a huge piece of seaweed), miso for additional $1, sukiyaki, for additional $3, and tonkotsu for additional $4. Sounds a bit absurd to me that they would charge extra for the different options when at much better tasting Hot Pot places, the options would all be included in the price. After 20 minutes, one of the waiters noticed that we didn't receive our broth or food and asked us if we ordered yet. We told him that a waitress took our order already but we haven't received our food. Turns out, the waitress took our order but didn't place it in the system yet. I'm hangry at this point, we came to our reservation at 7:30, it's 8:20 at this point and we had plans at 9pm-- so I was a bit annoyed that we had to wait so long. Things were turned around once we received our order though, the broth and food came quickly after she placed our order and the veggie platter section was OK. I'm not the biggest fan of hot pot places that have preselected veggie plates. The veggie plate had a small handful of spinach, a few pieces of napa cabbage, 3 pieces of broccoli, two slices of kabocha pumpkin, a small bunch of enoki mushroom, two pieces of tofu, and some onion slices. It's a nice "variety" but I only like broccoli and mushroom, but because I don't eat rice I had no choice but to eat the veggies to fill me up. I'm happy they offered Shirataki noodles! I chose the large portion and did half chicken half chuck roll. The chuck roll I was given was chewy and fatty. I spat out the chewy parts which was basically majority of the portion I was given. Would I come back here? No, but being from the 626, I have higher expectations for hot pot because I've grown up eating it. This is a good hot pot place for beginner hot pot goers.
