Air-Art provided we with the service and technical know-how that others could not. I had a leaky mini-split flare fitting that two other, highly reviewed, AC companies failed to fix. One company gave up and refunded me my money. Kainen and Chris from Air-Art came out and did the job the proper way! I know because I was so frustrated with the issue I researched the proper way to fix it. The senior technician, Rodger, assured me that his guys could do it and he was right. I ran the AC for 24 hours straight and no leaks! They also repaired a kink in the line that has been there since install, a kink the other tech said "was not worth fixing". I can legitimately say my mini-split has never run as good as it does now. Mini splits are a bit tricky because the fittings they use require skill, quality materials and the proper tools. Also the refrigerant these things now use is sometimes under immense amount of pressure, 500 psi+. Kainen and Chris are the right guys for this type of install/service. I just moved here from Arizona six months ago,And I wasn't sure when the air-conditioner was last Serviced, so I was looking for a good reliable company. My next-door neighbor has lived in Chico 60+ years, he recommended air-Art as the best. Their technician Roger came here yesterday, and I mentioned to him that the outside unit had a lot of vibration to it, I thought for sure it would need new bearings or something. He checked everything out, everything was OK he noticed some screws were missing and he put new ones in, and it is so much quieter now. He said the motor was vibrating a little bit, but no need to replace it now, maybe if it gets worse. He cleaned it and put in a new filter. The charge was just the standard maintenance charge. We just had our heater go out of course the coldest part of the winter with a newborn. So apprehensively we looked around for a repair place. Luckily we got recommended Air-Art. Once Roger the tech guy came over he was very friendly and on time. He told me that we need a new part that had gone out I believe it was the ignition. He gave me a quote and then wrote up a ticket for me. I had felt he was fair and told me more about our heater. Then I told him I would get back to him. Before I knew it he was knocking on my door before leaving and saying that he might have a more inexpensive option. It all worked out and he ended up saving us at least $400. Air Art showed up to my apartment 3 hours early and tried to open my door while i was butt naked, then on another date they entered my apartment without my knowledge, turned on both of my air conditioning units, opened shades, opened doors, and left the AC on after they left. On the first visit they were supposed to come do maintenance on all AC units in the complex, we were properly notified that they would be servicing on said date from around 12-3pm but we got a knock at the door just after 9 so we assumed it was someone leaving a package, as i got out of bed and made my way to the door they knocked once or twice more then proceeded to open the door as i reached it and pushed it back closed. The short blonde haired bearded employee who my property manager later told me was new immediately gave me an attitude saying that he knocked 3 times like he was supposed to, to which i replied that they werent even supposed to expect anyone for hours. He was defensive and gave me attitude when i had to get out of bed to stop someone from waking into my apartment hours before i was to expect anyone. Then months later after the state mandate for face coverings was already in effect the same guy returns for maintenance and isnt wearing a mask. Then another couple weeks later i arrive to my door in the evening to see a note saying that air art had been in my apartment which was a complete surprise to me because the last i was told my AC was working and i had no more problems to report. I was never told they would be returning yet i walk in and my shades are pulled back and open now instead of closed like we left them, both AC units were on and running instead of off like we left them, and our bedroom door was open which we leave closed so our cat cant get into things in there while we are gone. So not only do they not understand punctuality but they are also irresponsible. Air Art should NOT have opened my door hours before they were scheduled to be there, they should NOT have been in our apartment without our knowledge and they should NOT have changed things in our apartment. Completely dissatisfied with their service and so is my property manager who explained that he would seek a new AC maintenance team for the complex. read more

I called Air-Art for a second opinion on our heating system. I'm sure glad I did! Another company told me that both heaters were bad and he might not be able to locate parts. He was going to charge me $9,000 for 2 heating units! He replaced one unit and was going to replace the other in a few days. Roger from Air-Art came out and said my heater was working just fine and suggested I replace a flue sensor in the near future because of some corrosion on that part. There was no charge for the second opinion. Wow, what a pleasant surprise. After doing an inquiry at the Contractors License Board and discovering some previous deceptive practices, I called the other company and asked for my old heater back as I wanted it examined by another expert. I was told it had been taken to the dump. I then expressed my concern over the need for 2 new heaters and questioned his integrity. I told him I thought he was scamming the elderly. On February 27, 2017, Kainen from Air Art came to our house to assess the old heating ductwork under our home. We thought he would just assess the damage and wear, then give us an estimate for the work that needed to be done. Additionally we assumed the 60 year old ducts were outdated and in need of replacement. Instead, Kainen reassured us that the ducts were strong and sturdy but had some issues when a previous AC company replaced our heating system using a different size of duct pipes. I called Air Art last week and made an appointment. I waited a week for them to come by and they finally came out yesterday. Roger was efficient and I think wanted to help. My old window unit needed replaced and he would go back and get an estimate and call me back. An hour later he called back after talking to the owner. The owner did not think it was worth his time to deal with an elderly homeowner who needed a unit. The worst part of this is that Roger said he would try to help but I had to track him down for him to tell me it wasn't worth their time to deal with me. Tech was pleasant and said that there were possibly some programming issues and he would look into the fix and get back to us. He also said that another person was the one who did the quotes. Never heard back from the tech OR anyone about quotes for new equipment. Waited a few weeks and called the office and had to leave a voicemail asking about the status on both. Never got a call back. Waited a few weeks and called the office again. Spoke to a woman that answered the phone expressing my disappointment that no one ever got back to us. We had Air Art install a new and quieter whole house fan 3 years ago. The work they did was efficient and tidy. We have been very happy with the fan. So this year I decided to have them service our central A/C unit since we had been very lax about doing this in past years. The technician explained that he was removing a layer of insulation from inside the unit. He took a photo to show us why. The insulation had been resting against a pipe or something that was very hot and it had started to scorch. This was before our June heat wave, so we had not been running the unit. He said it was a poor design and the newer units do not have this. He did not try to sell us anything and said we could safely continue to use our A/C. He probably save us from a fire which would have quickly spread into our house since the unit sits on the ground outside the master bedroom window. I will have them out annually from now on to check both the heating and air! read more
