TL;DR Hired Airflows to install a high-pressure ventilation setup. Their tech walked on my non-load-bearing ceiling, cracked it, botched the install, left debris in the ceiling, never communicated internally, & management alternated between denial & blaming me. Final discovery: every duct connection on a high-pressure system was attached only w/ aluminum tape--no collars, no clamps, no screws--meaning everything could fly apart. Absolutely not a company I'd trust w/ anything involving safety, pressure, or basic workmanship. I wasn't planning to write a review, but then I climbed up to inspect the work & realized just how spectacularly bad it was. So here we are. I needed serious ventilation for a powerful shower--nothing off-the-shelf would cut it. After a lot of research, I sourced an in-line radon fan & duct silencer myself & hired Airflows to install them. I supplied the materials, they supplied "workmanship," which they told me was under warranty, but the materials were not. They were informed of all the model numbers weeks in advance & had ample time to research the specs to know how to install it. The technician who showed up was friendly, but apparently allergic to ladders. Instead of using one to reach my 15-foot ceiling, he climbed into the ceiling & walked around on flimsy, non-load-bearing metal studs like they were a dance floor. Predictably, cracks formed. I let it go at first because he was nice & I needed the ceiling patched anyway. He had to come back two weeks later because he forgot to attach the electrical cover on the radon fan, which was a fire hazard. Then things unraveled. A duct connection blew apart a week later & the vent was literally flapping in the ceiling void when the fan ran. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I asked Matthew (who quoted the job) about fixing it, & just replacing the current flex duct w/ a different kind & also mentioned the ceiling cracks--he said he'd talk to his manager. Then... silence. No returned calls.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The techs arrived w/out any idea of the plan, quoted me even more than the previous quote that I declined, & told me the manager had to see the ceiling damage himself. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The service manager came & looked at things, minimized all the damage & told me he'd have his boss call me later that day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The boss eventually called--& the conversation went from "concerned" to "accusatory" in record time. He suggested I could've made the ceiling damage myself, claimed his techs shouldn't have returned w/out charging me despite the workmanship warranty I was explicitly told I had, & said coming to look at the damage would cost me $295.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]He told me at least a 12 times that they record their phone calls which they can go back & listen to, to make sure they can verify what was said. He said he reviewed the recording & that there was no guarantee on workmanship. There absolutely was, I clarified that w/ Matthew on at least two occasions. When I asked him to send me the recording, he said he would not do that[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I wonder why? I got an outside quote & informed him that it would be $300-$350 to fix the ceiling, expecting that to be the end of it. Then I went up into the ceiling myself. What I saw was astonishing. They had removed rigid ductwork but never bothered to take it out--just left everything lying up there. One reducer for the radon fan was perched on an electrical conduit fifteen feet above the ground, in a place only reachable by--yes--walking all over the ceiling again. & the real kicker: every single duct connection on this high-pressure system (capable of ~5" of positive or negative pressure) was "secured" w/ nothing but aluminum tape. No collars inserted two inches deep. No stainless steel worm clamps. No screws to lock anything together. Just tape. On a system designed to work at high pressure. Airflows had all the product specs weeks beforeh&. They had every opportunity to install it correctly. They simply... didn't. Now I can't even close my ceiling because the ducts are likely to detach as soon as the fan runs. The flex duct wasn't even supported or strapped to the floor joists like it's supposed to be--just hanging there. That was the moment I realized this review was no longer optional. If your project involves airflow, pressure, safety, or anything above ground level, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Edit: Just to respond to what the owner said. They knew ahead of time that I would be using my own parts & the quote reflected that. They also had all of the specs for each item[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. On the day of installation, the only thing the tech pointed out was that the flex duct was porous & not fully sealed. I knew this, its acoustical flex duct meant to attenuate sound. As for not notifying them about the damage to the ceiling, they are totally right. It was about 2-3 weeks before I notified them, & that's because I didn't want to get the nice tech in trouble, & $300 wasn't enough for me to make a fuss. After multiple revelations, fixing the ceiling became a matter of principle.

All the lint that was trapped in the duct!!

They were able to come out and fix my issue in less than a half hour, when I had two other companies say they couldn't do it. Great service.

I…read morejust can't say enough good things about Miguel and David from Air Duct Maintenance Solutions. Theyre the real deal and true craftsmen of vent cleaning. I called them up based on all the positive reviews and they did not disappoint. Worked with me on my tight move-in schedule and came right within the window of time promised. Documented with a snake scope how dirty each vent/duct were before and how clean they were after. Kept my whole house clean during and after the cleaning. HEPA vacuum unit was outside pulling negative pressure to keep the indoors free of dust. Explained everything thoroughly. Price was not cheap but quite reasonable for how thorough they cleaned (about $600 for my split level 3b/3b and 130 for dryer vent) and final price was in the quoted range with no up-sell or any last minute increases. Honest guys. Air ducts, returns, dryer vent all cleaned. Even checked my blower and told me it didn't really need to be cleaned. My vents took extra time and they stayed late until the job was done. DId a nice job patching the access to the vent. Even found issues during the cleaning that didn't involve the HVAC. I would recommend these guys again and again to anyone who is moving into a new house or apartment, or hasn't had their ducts cleaned and has allergies or is sensitive to air quality. If you've read this far, give them a call already. They WILL get super booked once more people find out about how good they are.

They actually saved me from a potential fire because my dryer wasn't not hooked and there was paper near the igniter! They cleaned all of my vents as well as my dryer in under 30 minutes. It was filthy because I haven't had it cleaned in a while. Although I wish I would have asked to see the dust in the machine just to measure how much dust had accumulated over 3 years. I feel good that I am breathing cleaner air and do not notice dust everywhere like before. I do think the pricing of the duct cleaning is a bit expensive for an apartment unit and the amount of time it took to clear out dust. However, I thought they did a stellar job and would schedule with them again.

After a few weeks of cold and snowy days in late January and February, I felt the furnace and the ducts might need a major TLC. I contacted "Chicagoland Air Duct" via Yelp messaging where one can request a quote. Their office responded to me in a fairly timely manner and detailed the pricing and work that will performed. That alone was a determining factor and I decided to do business with them. Other companies either charged a bit high in my opinion or didn't delineate much of anything at all in their communications. Scheduling was easy. I did it all through Yelp messaging. We were able to do in the same day, but I opted for a Sunday service because my partner and I would both be home. E-mail and text confirmations were sent right after booking with an approximate time frame that the technician(s) will arrive. The lead technician for my project was also assigned with their first and last names. Everything appeared to be very legit and professional! Jerry, the lead technician and Anthony, the assistant, arrived in the beginning of the time frame. Jerry called me and announced his estimated time of arrival. I thought it was very nice because both my partner and I were having our morning naps (lol)! The house has two (2) furnaces. However, I just needed the one that serviced basement and first floor to be cleaned for today's purposes. They were efficient and knew exactly what they were doing. Jerry suggested a furnace cleaning upon inspection for an additional charge ($99). I knew our furnace was quite dirty since no major maintenance was done in the past. My partner and I agreed with the add-on and then Jerry went right into work. By the way, they were also good listeners. We have two (2) indoor cats and I had an unpleasant experience with one of them went outside when someone was performing a home improvement project in the past. We spoke to them about the cats being inside one of the rooms that had a vent. They were ok with touching the basement vents after the first floor ones were completed. They accept cash, checks, and debit/credit cards. Jerry also recommended some follow-up maintenance on our furnace. I'm planning on using "Chicagoland Air Duct" again for the top floor vent cleaning and furnace inspection. I had a positive experience with the company. Their prices were fair; workers were professional; communications were prompt and clear.

The…read moretechnician who ran positive tests for carbon monoxide in multiple ducts throughout the house pointed to a faulty heat exchanger and/or poor installation. He noted that the heat exchanger was set to combusting gas. As I wrote in my last updated review, we became aware of issues with the installation last season when I noticed water pooling on top of our furnace. Another HVAC technician diagnosed the pipes venting the furnace were not sealed. This allowed condensation to escape at multiple joints in the pipe that seeped down and pooled on top of the furnace. When the technician removed the front of the furnace, we found a layer of rust and build up on the bottom interior of the furnace. He said that we are lucky that this didn't come in contact with a nearby circuit panel, but that we should take care of it ASAP. Chicagoland Air Duct reiterated that it was outside their warranty, and further added that they no longer do furnace installation. After speaking with a Goodman Rep about a possibly faulty heat exchanger I was told that the part definitely is covered by the warranty, but that the labor is not. Another HVAC company quoted around $2000 for that labor. I am about to contact Chicagoland Air Duct and ask them to please do the right thing and address this problem. Wish me luck.

Mr. Duct sent Miguel out to clean our ducts. He did a great job. For those looking at duct cleaning…read moreservices, you should look for National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) certified shops. You should also shop around because some places offer bonus services that you may or may not need, or may even be hazardous to the occupants of the home, like sealants or chemicals. Check the EPA page on "Should You Have the Air Ducts in Your Home Cleaned?" for a thorough treatment of the topic, though note that it's much less enthusiastic about duct cleaning than people's subjective experiences, especially people with allergies or sensitivities, or if you've just done a remodel. I'd refer to "Is it worth it to get your air ducts cleaned?" on r/homeowners and "Is air duct cleaning a scam?" on r/hvacadvice. With that out of the way, Miguel cleaned our ducts quite thoroughly. He inserted the vacuum to the air handling unit. This would provide the negative pressure to ensure most of the dust and debris would go to the vacuum. Then he use a air compressor to knock loose the dust at each register and as far into the ventilation as he could push the nozzle. My registers unfortunately went up towards the attic, so dust was guaranteed to get knocked loose into the room, so we had to vacuum. This would have gone smoother if Mr. Duct had sent a partner with Miguel. Miguel was also very helpful in airdropping the photos of the ducts to my phone, which was important because we were trying to identify what might be triggering allergic reactions. For roughly $300, it was very reasonable. I would recommend Mr. Duct to those who need duct cleaning services.
