There is always a limited number of options to eat at in the Airport so when a catchy place like Margaritaville pops up we decide to check them out. This was our second visit to this Margaritaville with ordering food on both occasions. They have Table Seating along with a Wrap-Around Full Bar. Table Side Guacamole and Ceviche are very popular items as it is a different experience to watch the guys make your Appetizer right in front of you. First time coming in we just wanted a small snack that would be enjoyable before our flight. My husband decided on the Coconut Tempura Fried Shrimp with French Fries. The presentation was nice along with being served with a Coconut Dipping Sauce. Although when it came to our first bite the Coconut Tempura Crust was way over fried and super thick leaving a not so good feeling in your stomach afterwards. Also, the French Fries lacked Flavor and Seasoning giving the whole Dish a Negative Outcome.. Cocktails are quite pricy for not being very robust or strong. I had to order an extra shot for my Margarita which doubled the price of the drink. Although the Draft Beers are Clean and Cold! For our second visit we again sat at the BarTop. Service is pretty scattered as there are plenty of Bartenders/People behind the Bar but they seem to bumble around with their coworkers not really worried about customers unless you straight flag them down. On this visit we ordered the Table Side Fish Ceviche along with their Combo Fajitas. The Table Side Ceviche Man was quick to come over to us having absolutely no personality. He quickly made our Ceviche and was on his way. There was a nice portion of Fish but it lacked that burst of excitement and freshness. Our Combo Fajitas came out Sizzling with Heat including Beef, Chicken, and Shrimp. This was one of the most Under-Seasoned, Overcooked, and Disinteresting Fajita Plates we have had. I do not Recommend ordered the Fajitas- Overall, on both occasions there was not much satisfaction except for being able to enjoy a Beer or Two at the BarTop. I asked for a water and she said they don't have any free water and that it was $5/bottle. The food came fast but it wasn't hot. The portion size was ok, a tortilla cut into 4 slices. The staff at this place were very rude and food was sub par. We felt rushed the whole time. While waiting for a flight that was delayed, we asked our non-Spanish speaking teen kids to wait at the table with our carry-on while my husband and I inquired about our flight. The airline directed us to another gate for more information. No sooner had we walked away(5 minutes), when they were told to leave. Why? Because the staff of 8 wanted to take a break to share two plates of nachos. If they don't take care of their patrons, you should avoid this place. This place is aesthetically appealing. It was very early in the morning so it was not busy it all. Maybe because it's the airport it was pricey but I had 2 eggs, potatoes, and toast and my bill was $17. Also all of the meat served is pork options. I do not eat pork so it would have been nice to have some alternatives. Also, I did not notice any salt on the tables only pepper and ketchup. Thanks for the ketchup because it added a lil flavor to the eggs. Because we stayed at an all inclusive hotel in Puerto Morelos Riviera Maya, so we didn't get to eat at more restaurants during our trip. This is the only other restaurant we had drinks and a quick bite before flying home. The tableside salsa was SO GOOD! Definitely the best I have ever had, fresh veggies and SO spicy! I have never had salsa that tasted this spicy, but in a good way of course! The Margarita I had was so strong and tasty. I'd have had a second one but it was boarding time already, darn! Any time I have been in an airport bar/restaurant the staff is excellent about getting you in and out quickly in order to make flights. We ordered nachos app. And after a long time asked where it was (our bartender had disappeared ) they walked the kitchen and came right back with it. Our dinner came seconds after our app. I then asked the new bartender for a drink which I needed to ask for more than once. I sent my salad backed I requested dressing on the side and it was doused in it. The nachos were kind of dry, assuming they had been sitting in the pick up window until we finally asked for them. My friends and I had an hour left to departure, so we decided to get lunch before we board. I decided to try fish tacos for the first time and loved it! For drinks I had strawberry margarita. Our server was so sweet unfortunately, I forgot his name. My friends told him we came to Mexico to celebrate my birthday, and he immediately brought us souvenirs. The only reason why I took off a star is because we did not have silverware, when we asked other servers, they kept saying we should wait for our server to come. We waited for a while because our server was taking care of other tables. We asked for straws, sauces and they kept saying the same thing. I'm not sure if that's how things run over there. One star because the guacamole truly was spectacular. Made to order, right in front of our table. We were pressured to tip the guy though, ugh. Ordered a chicken quesadilla, came American style and was overall pretty awful and cold when it came to the table. We didn't expect much so it wasn't that big of a deal. It wasn't until we noticed the table next to us had a lower brand of bottled water and disposable cups and cans, that we thought we may be getting duped on the bill so I actually paid attention to the charges. I was given an Evian bottled water when I order "just water, thanks" and my husband ordered a "coke", which appeared to be a fountain soda in a mason jar. When we got the bill, there was a line item for fountain drink and an additional charge for a souvenir cup, and my Evian cost more than both of them! When I pointed this out to the waitress and asked her why she got to make the choice to give us the more expensive options she did not answer me, she started answering with questions like "do you not like Evian water" "here I will charge you for a cheaper water" When I told her that I wasn't taking a souvenir cup and to remove the additional charge she said no, I will have to charge you for two sodas and it will be more expensive so just pay for this. Realizing that she was obviously a complete idiot or just a strong, manipulative con artist, I paid because I couldn't stay calm any longer. We were just blatantly RIPPED OFF. Knowing I had a over 5 hour flight ahead of us, knew we needed some real food for the journey. I was at the Jet Blue gates and there was Margaritaville with a cute little fresh made Guacamole booth. How could I resist? I ordered a beef taco salad and the fresh made Guacamole with chips. The salad came out very quick while the hostess whipped together the Guacamole. I got the bill and had a mini heart attack. Yes I know... airport food is expensive but about $30 for those? Well, I should've asked how much that Guacamole would be and how HUGE of a portion it was! The salad was a tad underwhelming in size and flavor. But that guac! I should've just gotten that! It was almost the amount of that entire salad. Maybe like 2 cups worth. It came with fresh chips. They make it in front of you so you can tell them more of this or that, taste it to make sure it's perfect. Word to the wise, just get the guac. Breakfast sandwich were horrible, they use liquid eggs which has a different taste and awful smell, my kids couldn't eat it, when complained to the server and the manager, they never offer them something different and they were very defensive making all kind of excuses on why they use that type of eggs, you need to listen to your customers, they are the once eating the food or at least don't get so defensive about others opinions. read more

After checking in I had enough time to kill before my flight coming out of duty free this was the first place I saw I'd figured might as well give it a try. I sat at the bar & started w a Dos Equis beer pretty good, ended up getting some Wings, tamarindo flavor. Wings are a good size nice tasting sauce it has a sweet & tangy taste pretty tasty. The restaurant itself is a nice size plenty of seating along with a bar area & store to kill more time. Funky décor, fun looking place with a plane in the middle didn't check out the store. Service at the bar was good the bartender was nice & friendly, price wise not bad I believe my bill was $25 USD & change for 2 beers & an order of wings certainly could be worse considering it's an airport restaurant.
