This review is coming straight from a first-time homebuyer who was blessed to purchase an older semi-renovated single family home. Long story short, we are happy and thankful to have our home but with an older home comes older home issues. This summer's issue occurred when our air conditioner decided to begin its slow death in the middle of Houston-August when the temperature was around 147-degrees if I remember correctly. We tried having friends of friends come over and service the unit, as well as purchase 100plus dollars worth of fans for the house but the Houston-August heat continued to be disrespectful. So we realized that we would need to start the process of trying to locate an AC Company to provide us with a diagnostic and a quote to repair or possible replace our AC Unit. I had NO IDEA that the next week would be so mentally exhausting!! I swear, I have never had so many USED CASH CAR SALESMAN in my presence in such a short amount of time! It was really a disappointing and disheartening experience to have so many people from the bigger "reputable" companies come in and blatantly lie to my face about the amount of work I needed to have done. Let them tell it, I needed to throw the whole house away or at least set up financing to purchase the equivalent of a KIA Soul to fix my AC. I cannot stand disingenuous people and I felt like that was all I was coming in contact with. Just when I was about to give in and pick one of these Janky Salesmen's companies, I decided to do a little more home work and call a few more people. That is when I came across Air of Houston. I called them and they set a date and time when they were supposed to come and they ACTUALLY came at that time and date (take notes ARS)! Mr. David showed up personally to come and access the situation, and I exaggerate you not... he was THE ONLY person to tell me about my warranties on my current equipment. He took the time to explain the options to my wife and I as well as provide a VERY reasonable quote compared to the other folks who let flies in my house going in and out the front door before selling me a dream. Mr. David shot straight from the hip, and provided an old school "hand shake and eye contact" feeling you don't find with bigger companies who send their salesmen to your home to practice their script. He didn't, "call his manager to see if they could go down on the price" like the others did... All he did was come in and tell me what he found to be the problem, explain what he believed to be the best rout to take in order to fix it, and follow through with the agreement by providing prompt and professional service! I can't say enough about how much I appreciated my experience with Air of Houston and Mr. David. I just wish I had made the call sooner so I could have saved myself the headache and a few flies in the house. I would recommend Air of Houston to anyone looking to have his or her AC repaired or replaced. Now if you'll excuse me as I go back to enjoying this 71-degrees in my upstairs bedroom... I've been a customer for years as they maintained my aging HVAC and water heating units. This year one HVAC unit broke and David's team replaced both units and the water heater which also was old. I never felt they tried to upsell me or push products - just informed me they were aging and would need to be replaced at some point. I've had the new units for a few months and have noted significant savings in our electricity bill. And to speak of customer service, one unit had a wire that wasn't working and David's team came out same day and repaired the wire that wasn't working and charged nothing for the repair. Don't ask this company for any maintenance programs if they didn't install your a/c originally. Despite me being a customer for years in my old house in Spring and my new house. As David the owner said, he loses money on maintenance so he only provides that to customers who purchased it from him. What kind of business runs like that? I had a friend install my new A/C 4 years ago and I thought it was time for a tune-up. I guess he doesn't want the business! They actually had the nerve to make the appointment then call me back to cancel it to tell me the owner won't do it. read more

I called to ask about replacing the compressor on our refrigerator and told the reps I talked to that the part was under warranty. At no point, in three conversations, did they say we'd have to get the part ourselves. Instead, they sent a technician to confirm the diagnosis for $75, then told us we'd have to get the part because they don't do warranty work. Had they told us that to begin with, we would not have had them come out until we could see about getting the part. They were not upfront with us at all, and took advantage to get a service fee. We just moved into our house & the weather was getting cold so we turned on our heat, only it didn't work. Charles was able to come out that day (a Sunday) & figure out the problem. We needed a new HVAC system, as apparently part of ours was missing from the previous owners taking parts with them. Within a day or two, we had our new system installed & working. The following day, Charles came out to make sure everything was working and that we were happy. Charles was very knowledgeable and great to work with. The installers were great & cleaned up after and showed me how the new thermostats worked. I definitely recommend Air of Houston & will be using them in the future for any of my heating & air needs. read more

This company is great! I've been using them to service my AC units for over 10 years, including one that came with the house. The quality of their work is top notch. The best thing is that they stand by their work, and if I have any problem, they are right out to fix it, usually the same day. I bought a heat pump from them this year that I am very happy with. It keeps the humidity down, so I can set my thermostat higher than I used to, saving money on my electric bill. The heat pump will also save me a lot of money that I have been paying my propane company for heating. read more

I'll start this review by saying that I'm so very glad I called them when my AC went out on a Saturday. By the time David arrived, by the way he arrived with his luggage still in his truck coming straight from the airport. David jumped right into the issue at hand. He diagnosed the first of the issues very quickly and had the offending part replaced. After the part was replaced another issue was found. David quickly diagnosed this issue as an issue with my generator system. The contactor was defective. He quickly found a new one on his truck and had it replaced. The AC came to life. Now as an engineer and six sigma trained, I can really appreciate his trouble shooting and problem solving ability. Air of Houston has a long term customer at this home.They are my go to AC repair crew. One more thing. Davids wife answers the phone and is so very pleasant. Good People. read more

My A/C was not putting out cold air so I called Air Of Houston and spoke to Sandra. This was after 4 pm and she said she couldn't get a technician out until the next day between 8 am - 12 noon and she would call before the tech arrived. I said that was fine and the next day Sandra called at about 9:30 am to let me know someone was on their way. Pete showed up about 10am and checked my outside unit and went into the attic to check the main A/C unit. He said that the compressor had been knocked offline due to the heavy storm we had the day before. He cheked my entire system and said everything was back on and the system was working fine. I was able to use one of their coupons and was only charged the $69.95 system check fee. i was impressed with the quality of service and high professionalism of this company. They said what they would do and they did it! So many times I have had people not show up when they said they would or flake out entirely. Also, Pete was honest and efficient. I would highly recommend this company to anyone and will call them again if needed. read more

I had to move on after using them for over 20 years. They were always responsive, which was great, but I got tired of them telling me it was my responsibility to contact them to schedule my biannual preventative maintenance. Then when something went wrong they would say it was my fault for not doing the maintenance. The final nail in the coffin was when they came out to fix my AC, neglected to clear the primary drain line, and moved my drain pan causing water to ruin my ceiling. The owner, David, blamed it on me and refused to fix my ceiling. I'm done with them. They had my house, my mother's house, and my office. David bragged to me about his 6000 square foot home so I guess he doesn't need my business. read more

We were referred to Air of Houston when our service provider of 25 years passed away. One of our heaters wasn't working, and we needed service right away. David was responsive, informative, and so helpful! We decided to upgrade all of our old equipment, NOT because I was pressured into a sale, but because it was right for us. Let me add that we have very high standards for our service providers. The technicians they sent were amazing! They were a delight to have in the house, great with our dog, spotted a hole in our roof, and we're exceptionally clean. Our attic has never looked so good! David, who also has high standards, came after to inspect the work. Air of Houston isn't going to be the cheapest provider, but the quality of their work is outstanding! I'm a customer for life! If you want subpar service please go with them. Had an inspection and missed quite a few things wrong. Had to have another company come and fix everything. When supervisor called back he was condescending and rude. Such a waste of money. read more

They were quick on the service but extreme in service cost. Technician Robert was there for no more than 10 minutes and 5 minutes of work at the most. Change a starting capacitor for $227.00. I showed him discount coupons and even my military retirement card. But he said he took off the service call fee. Best call another service provider. read more

I called in because of the positive reviews. The person answering the phone was really nice. The technician was courteous and the unit got repaired. They brought their own mats and wore boot covers when entering my house which is a plus to me as I have white carpet. Never had any issues with their work nor installation for both my HVAC units. NO I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM. Here are the facts: 1) The owner David Bunch came out to replace a capacitor. 2) It took him only 15 minutes. My house was only a 20 minute drive from his office, so I was surprised when he charged me $395, and paid by check. 3) After he left, I took a picture of the part and looked up the price online. It costs less than $30. 4) I called his office to ask why I was charged so much. The office manager, Sandra Bunch told me she would have him call me back. 5) A few hours later, David Bunch called back later in the day with Sandra Bunch also on the phone. He told me that he charges "two and a quarter" for replacing a capacitor, ie. $225. He said he would refund me the difference between what I paid, $395 and his usual price $225 6) Soon after that, Sandra Bunch sent me an email saying that instead they would mail me a refund check for the service fee of $69.95. 7) I emailed back informing her that was not what was agreed. 8) She emailed back telling me that their flat fee for capacitors was $325, not what he said in the phone call. 9) They have have refused to refund ANYTHING. read more

Wow! Very impressed. We discovered our a/c was not working at about 8:30 PM last night. The unit outside was not running at all. Found Air of Houston via Yelp, and they had awesome reviews so we called to make an appointment. They arrived by 10:30 AM this morning, and by 11:30 AM, our a/c was back up and running. They had to change out the capacitor. While they were at it, they of course checked on everything else, added some refrigerant, and even gave us some advice about our filters. They were also very friendly and knowledgeable. We are very happy with their expertise and service. Would definitely recommend. read more

I am so glad that I came across this company! I had received quotes from three other companies and I was beginning to feel discouraged with the amount of money I was quoted to spend. I came across Air of Houston on Yelp and decided to give them a call. From my first conversation with Sandra I felt more at ease, she was very polite and straightforward while explaining to me what they could do. The quote they provided was much better than any other I had received and Sandra even ran numbers with me to see what financing option would work best. (YES they have options!) Even better, when the technician came out to review everything before install he explained a way that I could save even more money! The day of install, the gentlemen showed up as promised and were also very polite, work was completed quickly and everything was explained to me. They reviewed paperwork with me and answered all of my questions. Dave was wonderful. We had 6 quotes from various local companies, all recommended similar units. However, Dave was more informative on the discussions and came across as the one to trust. He ask what our wants were and what we expected from a new system. He came in, examined our old system, and gave us a quote based on what we were looking at, as far as systems go. There was NEVER A "well I can discount this and drop this to get you a good price" as we had with some other companies that came out. He gave us the rock bottom price from the start after telling us about the MFG rebates and the energy rebate. Now let me tell you about the install.. High Class just like Dave! The crew came out, on time, which is always appreciated! They kept a clean work area and were also very informative about our new system. Our condo inside unit was 40 years old. It was in need of a change. I called from their add on the gay yellow pages. We are a gay couple. The owner came, David, personally and gave us a quote on a new unit and install. He was very courteous. The guys came out on time per our appointment, They did a great job. Love our new unit. Put in a new slab for our unit as well. David also gave our old unit a freon burst till he came out the next week with no charge. That is how you take care of a customer and keep one for life. I read all of the reviews for Air of Houston and all seemed positive. So I called them. Unfortunately, I did not have a positive experience. I had a tech come out and spent over an hour in my home. He was not sure of what the problem was, so he told me he would have to have his father, David, come out and look at the unit. David came out later that evening. He looked at the unit and said he was not sure what the problem was. He said it is either the thermostat or the board. I asked how much for a thermostat he said $250 for a basic thermostat and over $475 for a wifi thermostat. I realize this is top quality but you can buy a basic thermostat for $20 and a Wifi thermostat for $80. He was offended when I mentioned this and said he "has trucks to pay for". David and the first tech were more interested in selling me a new unit than fixing my current problem. So nothing is fixed, I am in the same place I started and they charged me $150 for that. Crazy. I purchase a brand name thermostat with a warranty for $20. Installed it myself, and the unit now runs fine. read more

Went with Air of Houston based on other Yelp reviews and was very impressed with service. A/C went out late Sunday night and called Air of Houston first thing Monday morning. They assured me that they would be able to fit us in their schedule, and they kept me informed about scheduling as they had an emergency commercial refrigeration job they had to take care of first. We have used Air of Houston for 12 years and will continue to do so. Our first experience was when we bought our first house and the A/C stopped blowing cold in the dead of summer. The company that installed the unit on a " brand new house" advised that they could not get there until morning as it was after hours. Not only did Air of Houston come out that night but it was David the owner and another technician. They found it was low on freon. They put some in and then proceeded to check out the entire unit from outside to in the attic. He was kind enough to only charge me for the freon and not an after hours call because he was near by from another call and I can only assume he saw how stressed out I was. We have used them every since for our preventative maintenance. We sold that house and upon completion of our new home, I called Air of Houston to see if they would inspect the work on our new home. He could of sent an employee but he personally came out and spent a solid hour or so reviewing the work. He complimented the work of the other company and assured me we were ok. FAR LESS THAN EXPECTED RESULTS!! Numerous calls to this company w/o definitive fix to air conditioner (10 to be exact) Unit failing again and they were called. Service tech Dave responded and was less than desirable with interacting with us. Got mad, vulgar and had to fire him on the spot. He even flipped us off a few times. Air of Houston is an excellent A/C repair and installation company. We first used them several years ago based on a recommendation from a close neighbor who we trust. Air of Houston had been servicing our neighbor's A/C units for years and eventually installed a new unit when their old unit failed. Our friends passed them on to us with a very glowing reference and now we want to do the same. Our house was built in 2001 and the two A/C units were original to the house when we purchased it in 2012. We called Air of Houston on several occasions when the units were not cooling. They responded quickly to our calls (same day and usually within just a few hours). They were able to get the units cooling with the addition of Freon and stretched out their life expectancy a few more years. The larger unit made it until 2016 and the smaller unit made it until this month (April 2017). We really appreciated how Air of Houston serviced the units and did not try to immediately sell us new ones. They were able to get the maximum life out of the unit....having A/C units make it for 15+ years is excellent, especially in Houston. They worked very closely with us on the purchase of the new units. We had a lot of questions and wanted to make sure we were making sound choices for such a large purchase. The owner, David, came out and explained everything in detail and provided good guidance for us. He is not pushy and really wants you to be a satisfied customer. We chose a higher end unit to service the 2nd and 3rd floors of our townhome and a smaller, more standard unit to service the 1st floor. The new units have been awesome. The house is cooling nicely and the humidity level is perfect. The higher end unit does just about everything (but cook my breakfast--I'm first on the list to get that unit when available! Ha!). Some key features include: ability to select a specific humidity level; lots of programmable settings; can be linked to your phone for remote access; provides usage readings to help control costs. Our electric bill has significantly decreased since the installation of the unit last year and I expect the same for the new unit installed this month. Installation was handled very professionally and timely. The guys were customer service focused and worked very hard to ensure proper installation. The guys had their work cut out for them with a 3 story townhouse that has a very small attic and lots of stairs! The owner came out immediately after installation to check the system and go through the features with us. Again, strong customer service focus from the owner all the way through the organization. They also offer no interest financing for larger purchases. We took advantage of that on the high end large unit. If you want fast, friendly, competent A/C service, Air of Houston is the business to call. We have always felt like they took great care of us and delivered a quality product and quality service. We have been using Air of Houston for 6 years now and have no complaints. Twice, the owner of the company, David, saved us from misery. Within two weeks of moving into our new home, the AC broke, on a weekend, at night, and 105 degrees outside. We called multiple companies but no one would come out til we called Air of Houston. David personally came out and solved the problem. Recently I woke to smell something burning outside my bedroom door. The AC unit was in the attic in the same area. When I initially called Air of Houston, I was told someone would be out the same day. Fearful of a fire, I called the fire department but after much searching, they could not find the source and said it was probably the AC unit. On the second call to Air of Houston, David responded. He was at my home within 1/2 hour. He did not give up until he found the source. It was the doorbell transformer which is located in the same area. Thank you David for saving us twice! Once again, Air of Houston came through for us. We had one AC malfunction, and our newer unit had tipped and floated a bit during the flood. After the water subsided, I called Air of Houston, and David came out same day to see if he could repair our non working condenser. Never mind the fact that David's house flooded, nor that it was Labor Day weekend, David himself showed up to try to make things right for us. Imagine you coming home and surprise: Your AC seems to be dead. ! It´s hot summer in Texas and your old AC retired for good! I called Air of Houston and I had Robert coming in my home, he fixed the AC because I didn't want to buy a new one. It worked for about one year and then I was ready to buy a new AC and Robert and colleagues worked with perfection to instal it. I am so glad to have Air of Houston always there for me and my "friend" Robert came today just to give me some extra instructions to me and my husband (I hate read manuals). I highly recommend!
