0 stars Do not use this company for small issues or older units. My story. Recently moved to Dallas from the Midwest in the last 6 months, in laws in town, and first child born a few days prior to the HVAC going out. I was charged over $800 for "Run Capacitor, Start Circuit and Blower capacitor" which was less than $100 in material and an hour of work and did not resolve issue. For the non technical folks this is equivalent to changing the batteries on your remote control for your TV that doesn't turn on. Once I called around other licensed businesses quoted $250 for the same work. The kicker of it all is I called them The next morning informing them the issue persisted, and was charged $67 for the team to come out and confirm what I said over the phone was correct. They quoted $4K for a rebuild, $12K for a new unit, and $1.5K to replace the seized motor I purchased the a motor online and installed It for less than $200 and 2 hours of work. The quotes from the other contractors were around $500 for the same work. Long story short. Please avoid this business like the plague, get multiple quotes, ask your neighbor and work colleagues on who they use and don't blindly trust highly reviewed businesses on yelp/google. Overall they have been pretty good, except they changed the window of our scheduled maintenance the day prior without confirming on our end that it was okay. I couldn't call and let them know the time was not okay because they were closed and this was done in less than 24 hours before our scheduled appointment. Your Sunday schedulers need to confirm times before moving them. This is customer service 101. read more

Last night our air conditioner was not working and lucky for us one of their managers of this company lives a few houses away. He was fully scheduled but gave a number to call and a technician gratefully came out the next day at noon. The technician was very pleasant, polite, knowledgeable and thorough -- checked out the whole system. Turns out it was a simple fix requiring a capacitor. We are very happy with this service. read more

I have start by recognizing Jason, the technician was very through during his inspection process. He took the time to educate me on my system and it's needs. It was not a cheap service call ($300) but, I felt I could trust him. Unlike other a/c repair companies that will offer you all sorts of unnecessary services. Jason was honest and earned my trust. Established in 1998.

Todd is originally from the Midwest state of Illinois but moved to North Texas in 1978 when his dad received a job transfer. Little did he know, he would plant his roots here for good. From an early age, he had a self-starting, entrepreneurial spirit - always working for himself and running his own business. In the late 90's, he saw an opportunity in the North Dallas area to create a HVAC company that had virtues of honesty, dependability and quality that reflected in the work provided to customers and the relationship with its employees. So, in 1999, Air Repair Pros was established and ran out of his home office in The Colony, TX. Now 20 years later, Air Repair Pros has grown into a profitable, successful business. Todd defines this success by the long-term relationships created with many customers and the strong team built that makes it all possible.

Meet the Manager: Kara K.

Kara is a born and raised Texan - loves to travel but will always call Texas her home. She graduated from Southern Methodist University and jumped into the sales world directly after. In 2015, the family business was calling her name, so she made a drastic career change and joined the team to run the Customer Experience / Operations department at Air Repair. Her role is fulfilling to her since she has had the privilege to grow the department from the ground up. She loves the responsibility of improving Air Repair's processes and procedures to better serve our customers. In her spare time, Kara loves to hang out with her family and newest addition, her 4-month-old daughter.

Sadly, the owner of Nick's passed away and this company is now owned by Dunrite. I called that company based on the reviews of Nick's Air Services, but their services has definitely NOT been the same as mentioned on this profile. In summary, this company is expensive, can make improper recommendations, and the office is very difficult to get anyone to call you back. I absolutely would not use them again in the future and - had I read their Yelp profile for Dunrite Heating & Cooling - would never have called them in the first place. My experience: My air conditioning due to leaked refrigerant due to another HVAC technician not correct. Nick's/Dunrite came out during the same day and quickly identified the problem. There was a leak on the schrader valve. They got us back to running - for nearly $200/per pound of refrigerant. 5 lbs = about $1,000. Wow, but we had no choice as my original installer was not available. Our unit has not been keeping up with the 90s for the past two months and the technician recommended 3 different options. I chose 2 of the 3 options: a larger return air duct AND repairing the plenum. I was anxious to get the work scheduled and it took me hounding them to get them to schedule the work. Communicating with this office was very painful. I would never get calls back and would just get a text message indicating when they had scheduled the appointment. Their front desk support was exceedingly helpful but not empowered to do anything besides schedule appointments and pass along info. I finally had the appointment and the technician went to the wrong address. I got a call from them saying they had been at my house and then they proceeded to the next job. I spoke to them and learned they were at the wrong house, but could not turn around to go back to my house. I had to wait until the following week to get the appointment rescheduled. What a disaster. It got worse. The work was finally done - the return air duct and the plenum. I waited a couple of days, but there was NO change in the air conditioning. I called them back again and they scheduled another technician to come out. The second technician came out, a more senior technician, who confirmed that the unit was undersized and "working as it was designed" to cool at 75-76. I don't know a single person who is comfortable with 75-76 in the house when the outside is in the 90s. I called customer service again. When I finally got someone, I got a call from William, who is their most senior technician (an older guys in his late-50s probably). He came out with the original technical and instructed him how to properly do a heat load calculation. They determined indeed the unit is undersized and I needed a 3 ton. I called back the customer service asking for a refund to the work. I've called at least 3-4 times, each time speaking with a very nice person. However, I've still not been called back. What a disaster. I've finally had to resort to filing a complaint with my credit card and disputing it through them. It's unfortunate and I didn't want to have to do this, but - when no one will call you back - it's very very hard to trust this company to make things right.

Last year, my thermostat kept turning off and back on. I called Dragon Air Services, and spoke to Dragon. He told me to check the little trip valve thing when your condensater line gets clogged. He asked "Are you handy?" 'Yep', "Okay figure out where that condensater line goes to and clean out the crud. Did it, Fixed the problem super easy. Fast forward to today. Same issue happened, so I got my stuff out and cleaned out the clog again; but the compressor wasn't starting back up. Dragon theorized on the phone that maybe the compressor was turning on off on off on off and overheated when the condensation line was clogged... So he instructed me (to save me an emergency call), to hook my hose up and flood the compressor with water for 10 minutes to help cool down the compressor. Long story short, my A/C is now back completely working. When I heard the compressor kick back on, I was like "NO WAY". These guys actually care about your A/C, and they're not out there trying to make a quick buck. I will call them when I have the BIG a/c problems. Dragon is probably one of the coolest people on the planet. You guys are awesome. They are so incredibly smart.

Not only did they do a great job taking care of us at a very reasonable fee, they also gave us guidance on how to reduce costs (like purchase filters online and have them ready for the 6 month service calls). They have been outstanding in their ability to handle emergencies like the heat going out in the winter or the cooling failing in the summer. I have been very impressed with their reaction time and service. When we finally got to the point when we needed a new unit, they got us taken care of. We wanted to convert to gas for emergency heat. They did a great job of determining exactly what we needed and the replacement. We just finished the replacement of our other unit and it was more of the same - quotes lower than I expected, with very high quality service. The new system was installed just a couple of days after we accepted the quote - they made it happen even though it was raining and our gas line had to be extended. We have been doing business with them at least since 2019 as I found an invoice that old. I am grateful to Imperial Heating and Air Conditioning as I just don't have to worry about my heating and air conditioning - I know their number... Very highly recommended, high quality service at a very reasonable price - just a great value.

This was yesterday and I am still waiting for responses to my initial calls to 5 other local A/C companies. Quick response, knowledgeable with integrity and ethical and he didn't try to sell me a quick fix of Freon or tell me the only solution was to replace my 3.5 ton unit (and preemptively replace the 5 ton unit) John is a pro and I would HIGHLY recommend him to all that need A/C repair. When I replace both units this winter he will be my first call. Great job John. They were unhelpful in trying to escalate the issue to Lennox. One woman hung up on my husband and another told me I needed to call Lennox myself and complain. This is the company that we paid to install our units (that were still under warranty) and paid an ongoing service fee for checkups. We called another AC company and they had our AC fixed in 24 hours.

David came out, fixed the wiring on a capacitor, and the unit ran fine. He wouldn't even accept payment (even though I insisted) saying -"I really didn't do anything"! On another occasion one of my units went out late on a Fri night in July. David came out at 2AM, explained to me why my unit needed replacing and then came out the following Sunday to replace the unit! I have not seen this level of service for many years. I have used David and his crew ever since - they have always been reliable, professional and fair in all of our dealings.

I had been using AC Works for regular HVAC maintenance for the past couple of years. Unfortunately,…read moremy most recent experience has made me seriously question the service and, more importantly, the explanation I was given afterward. Within just a few hours of a scheduled maintenance visit, I noticed that my home was getting unusually hot. I went into the attic to check and found that one of my HVAC units was no longer working and that water was dripping in an area where it shouldn't have been. I immediately contacted AC Works. They returned, inspected the unit, and told me that the motor had failed. When I asked what could have caused it, I was told that a power surge had blown the motor. Fortunately, I have a Ting electrical monitoring device that continuously monitors electrical activity in my home. I checked the history for the period following the technician's visit, and there was no recorded power surge. Naturally, I questioned the explanation. The unit stopped working only hours after routine maintenance, and the stated reason did not appear consistent with the information available from my electrical monitoring system. I wanted to understand what actually happened. My intention in asking questions was not simply to assign blame. If something went wrong with the system, I need to understand the actual cause so that I can prevent the same failure from happening again. If the cause really was electrical, I would want to address that. If it was mechanical or related to something else, I would want to address that instead. Giving a homeowner an accurate explanation matters because it affects what corrective action should be taken. What disappointed me most was the response when I questioned the power-surge explanation. Instead of addressing my concern with a clear technical explanation, the conversation became defensive, and I was told that I was being rude. Equipment can fail, and mistakes can happen. I can accept that. What I find much harder to accept is an explanation that doesn't appear to match the available evidence, followed by defensiveness when a customer asks reasonable questions about it. After being a customer for a couple of years, I expected transparency and a professional explanation of what actually happened. I am still interested in understanding the true cause--not only because of what happened this time, but because I want to make sure it does not happen again.
