I hired this company for a second opinion. The first company I called out had 200+ reviews and a 4.9 rating here on Yelp. That company was at my house for 1.5 hours and gave me an outrageous 4k verbal quote b/c the "refrigerant pressures indicating that there is a restriction in refrigerant line". Tech said the estimate will come in tomorrow and it's now 6:30pm and no written quote. I also had to pay them $125 for the pleasure of the misdiagnosis. Due to my lack of confidence in said previous company, I decided at the last minute to get a second opinion. Kevin from Betz came out same day and got the issue diagnosed with confidence. Turns out I needed some valve replacement and a new Ecobee. He came back 24 hours later and replaced both problematic parts. Total cost for everything was under $1000 and that includes me buying a new Ecobee from a big box retailer. I'd like to again thank Kevin for his professionalism, communication, and a job well done. Friendly and honest. We signed up for their yearly membership (not auto per year). We had issues with our AC but we also have avoided maintenance. We had them come out for a maintenance check and our drain line needed some attention. That's all it was. I was looking at that price or more for a consult on the issue at other places but Betz checked out everything else too.They have the best prices around. The support that I received from Amy was immediate, and diagnostic. She was like a Triage Specialist on the Front Lines. Her Specialist Kevin, was ready-to-roll my way next that same night. But then the "mystery of the Texas Power-Grid" shut me down for the next few days. Shamefully (I must admit) I called after 2 days in my parked and running car crying and even got help booking a hotel from Amy and got some "gallows humor" to keep me going. Four days later, mere minutes after the electricity was back and I turned my oven on and called Amy again to say "I'm back in and colder than ever" she had her Specialist Kevin at my door within THE HOUR!!! Kevin speaks low and is SUPER-INTELLIGENT and found how to get into the attic. By the time he came down? He both fixed what would have been an un-fixable problem for anyone else without re-installing everything totally new. Why? All was "wrong AND uncorrelated Tube Sizes with a Kit too small for everything attached to the Unit TOO SMALL ,thus UNDERPOWERING the needs of the unit. Add to that: an, EVEN SMALLER TUBE added at a CRITICAL JUNCTURE that KEVIN had to be SMART ENOUGH to HAVE ON HIM and REPLACE and DIAGNOSE THE REST without holding out for a completed fix to get HEAT FLOWING IN for me at that moment. How easily Kevin could have said "WE MUST CHANGE OUT YOUR ENTIRE INCORRECT SIZED KIT AND INFRASTRUCTURE" and he would not have been lying one bit . But Kevin and BETZ Heating & Air Does NOT Operate this way when people are FREEZING. Betz IS AS GOOD AS IT GETS. You are getting Tesla on pricing contemporaneous with his life: it's 20th century pricing in 21st century! They have their OWN moral charter that they answer to. This freeze brought out the worst and ugliest Human Misery Profiteering I have seen from everybody else. God Bless these wonderful people for their hard work, focus, intelligence and HONESTY. Just WOW!!! I cannot say enough about these guys, but I'll try! From the very first estimate on replacing a decades old, upstairs unit to spending two hours searching for a copper tubing leak, these guys were just first rate. Their estimate was fair, communication superb, all crew on time, worked steady and fast. When an issue arose, they DID NOT STOP UNTIL IT WAS CORRECTED. All the reviews you see here are 100% accurate. Amie and Kevin are both rockstars! During winter storm of February 2021, with below freezing outside and treacherous road condition, our heating system went down. We called Betz and spoke to Amie who routed Kevin (tech) very efficiently such that we were able to get an appointment within an hour. Way to go Amie! Then, cannot thank Kevin enough for the resolution. He is very professional, courteous, and kindly explained what happened and the fix. Kevin has been looking after our HVAC system for many years. We have two AC units and 2 Furnaces and get the yearly contract to have servicing done. The price is very reasonable, Kevin does a great job and they keep our units running smoothly. Kevin goes above and beyond when he needs to. We had our roof replaced a year ago and the roofing company replaced a furnace vent and messed up. Kevin went up on the roof and fixed the issue which was causing the exhaust to back up and the furnace to shut off. Wonderful, reliable, friendly and trustworthy. Betz Heating & Air is top notch. I don't generally write reviews but I felt it necessary to comment about such great service. From the initial conversation with Amie (co-owner), who is super friendly and helpful, to dealing with Dave (co-owner) and Kevin throughout the assessment, estimate and work completion, they have been courteous, helpful, professional and responsive. We talked to numerous HVAC companies to review our issues and got different responses from many, including some who just flaked entirely. Betz reviewed our situation, discussed the options and impact they would have. They answered our questions patiently, included repeated callbacks because we were a bit insecure after our experiences with other companies. They did the work during the summer in our hot attic when some other companies said we had to wait until the Fall (at which point the A/C issue would not have been as serious). They gave us options when one of the ducts was not fully reachable to replace. They came back to adjust the dampers after replacing one of our A/C units. They responded to more calls with questions as things came up that we wondered about. And now finally as the weather cooled over the last couple of nights and the heat didn't kick on as expected, they responded to my text and came to our house on a Sunday morning to fix it.
