Not only did they do a great job taking care of us at a very reasonable fee, they also gave us guidance on how to reduce costs (like purchase filters online and have them ready for the 6 month service calls). They have been outstanding in their ability to handle emergencies like the heat going out in the winter or the cooling failing in the summer. I have been very impressed with their reaction time and service. When we finally got to the point when we needed a new unit, they got us taken care of. We wanted to convert to gas for emergency heat. They did a great job of determining exactly what we needed and the replacement. We just finished the replacement of our other unit and it was more of the same - quotes lower than I expected, with very high quality service. The new system was installed just a couple of days after we accepted the quote - they made it happen even though it was raining and our gas line had to be extended. We have been doing business with them at least since 2019 as I found an invoice that old. I am grateful to Imperial Heating and Air Conditioning as I just don't have to worry about my heating and air conditioning - I know their number... Our 3.5 ton A/C upstairs unit stopped working suddenly…read more With the temperature having been over 100* for the past two weeks our A/C had to work. Otherwise, my kids couldn't sleep or be upstairs at the indoor temps were 90*+ and my wife's office also upstairs was also unable to be used, causing extra grief from her employer. My neighbor Ron recommended Hayward Air. John Hayward replied to my text promptly and arrived the next morning at 10:00. He found the capacitor on the upstairs unit was blown and within 10 minutes it was repaired and blowing cold air!! This was yesterday and I am still waiting for responses to my initial calls to 5 other local A/C companies. Quick response, knowledgeable with integrity and ethical and he didn't try to sell me a quick fix of Freon or tell me the only solution was to replace my 3.5 ton unit (and preemptively replace the 5 ton unit) John is a pro and I would HIGHLY recommend him to all that need A/C repair. David came out, fixed the wiring on a capacitor, and the unit ran fine. He wouldn't even accept payment (even though I insisted) saying -"I really didn't do anything"! On another occasion one of my units went out late on a Fri night in July. David came out at 2AM, explained to me why my unit needed replacing and then came out the following Sunday to replace the unit! I have not seen this level of service for many years. I have used David and his crew ever since - they have always been reliable, professional and fair in all of our dealings.

I had been using AC Works for regular HVAC maintenance for the past couple of years. Unfortunately,…read moremy most recent experience has made me seriously question the service and, more importantly, the explanation I was given afterward. Within just a few hours of a scheduled maintenance visit, I noticed that my home was getting unusually hot. I went into the attic to check and found that one of my HVAC units was no longer working and that water was dripping in an area where it shouldn't have been. I immediately contacted AC Works. They returned, inspected the unit, and told me that the motor had failed. When I asked what could have caused it, I was told that a power surge had blown the motor. Fortunately, I have a Ting electrical monitoring device that continuously monitors electrical activity in my home. I checked the history for the period following the technician's visit, and there was no recorded power surge. Naturally, I questioned the explanation. The unit stopped working only hours after routine maintenance, and the stated reason did not appear consistent with the information available from my electrical monitoring system. I wanted to understand what actually happened. My intention in asking questions was not simply to assign blame. If something went wrong with the system, I need to understand the actual cause so that I can prevent the same failure from happening again. If the cause really was electrical, I would want to address that. If it was mechanical or related to something else, I would want to address that instead. Giving a homeowner an accurate explanation matters because it affects what corrective action should be taken. What disappointed me most was the response when I questioned the power-surge explanation. Instead of addressing my concern with a clear technical explanation, the conversation became defensive, and I was told that I was being rude. Equipment can fail, and mistakes can happen. I can accept that. What I find much harder to accept is an explanation that doesn't appear to match the available evidence, followed by defensiveness when a customer asks reasonable questions about it. After being a customer for a couple of years, I expected transparency and a professional explanation of what actually happened. I am still interested in understanding the true cause--not only because of what happened this time, but because I want to make sure it does not happen again.
