I am a 30 y/o female who is over weight and has a desk job. I was curled up in bed for months! I even took medical leave from work because doing daily tasks became very difficult. I drove 4 hours to see Dr. Galvan for my first consultation and he scheduled my surgery within 2 weeks. Surgery was quick (1.5 hrs) and minimally invasive. My disc herniation ended up being 2 inches at time of surgery (Oct 2018). I had very little pain after surgery. The hardest thing was remembering not to lift things or bend your back. It was not said in jest but with malice. He claimed that I couldn't be in that much pain if I ride a motorcycle. When asked if he'd ever ridden one he replied by calling me an organ donor. Riding a motorcycle (harley ultra) is easier on the back and hips than a car or truck because you move with the machine instead of bouncing around inside it.
