This place never disappoints! It was my go to sushi spot when I lived in Long Island. They have the best ginger dressing on this planet and the best lunch sushi roll specials I've ever had. They also have awesome happy hour options as well. The staff has always been super friendly and still is. The food was delicious and I am so happy this place still exists after all this time. As someone that now lives in Florida, I wish this spot existed near my home. 10/10 recommend the food, the service, the ambiance is great, drinks are good and their fried ice cream was also my fav. I recently decided to give Aji a retry via food delivery and they have been redeemed... partly. I had the spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and eel cucumber roll. The fish in the spicy rolls were up to par this time and actually fresh tasting thankfully. The eel cucumber roll could have used bigger eel pieces and more eel sauce though, I found the cucumber overbearing and drowning out the eel. My chicken tempura roll was mostly dry as well and I don't think the lettuce works as well as they intend it to here, there was certainly not enough sauce in this either. Aji does have some of the best sushi rice out there though, I enjoy how nicely soft and tangy it is. The salad was good too, I like their dressing a lot as it's got a nice sweetness to it others don't. While Aji can convincingly provide a good sushi dinner for others, there are some shortcomings that prevent it from being at the upper echelon of sushi restaurants for me. read more

Well received a very small lobster tail which was overcooked rubbery and tasteless. Ditto quietly.for the shrimp. The worst part was the supposed filet mignon. Love that vibe over there in the back left. Their lunch special is where it's at fasho! Fish quality is always up to par and their ginger dressing is my favorite on the island. The only thing is that they have a free saki shot offer when you check in on Yelp, but I was denied my free shot because the supervisor mentioned they weren't honoring it anymore. Ive eaten at Aji numerous times, and each time the food is great but the service just goes down hill. The other day I had the server Tori, she is not very attentive which i think is a very important part about being a server, not to mention it was not busy. I would understand if there was a rush or a packed restaurant but the whole time I was there it was not. Besides not being attentive she didn't quite get the order correct, she forgot to put in our second round of drinks, she severed us the food without the accommodations we asked for, this happened 4 times in our one meal, first in the soup, then in the salad, and lastly in both entrees there was mistakes. This made me quite annoyed. Besides all of her mistakes the food was great, but the service truly just needs working with, and she isn't the only server I believe needs help! read more

We've been to Aji numerous times, we've dined in, ordered for delivery and have picked up. The restaurant itself is large and we'll decorated. It has a nice vibe with its dim lighting. They have 2 different bar areas, one when you walk in and another in the side room. The service is great, the waitstaff is always friendly and prompt, they always fill up your water, and your food comes out pretty fast. Everything we have ordered has been delicious. For apps, the ginger salad is great and so is the wonton miso soup. My favorite signature roll is the American Dream, and my fiancés is the Bayshore roll. Yesterday, I tried the Lo Lo K roll which was also really good. We've tried some other in the past as well, The Demon, the Fire Island and the Deer Park. A nice tip is the ask your server to have the signature rolls cut into 10. It makes each piece a lot easier to eat. Babylon is no stranger to the sushi game. But - we wanted to branch out. We had been to the Smithtown Aji 53 a LONG time ago, and thought - let's give it a whirl and switch up our usual places. Thanks to Door Dash, we figured let's DO this! We ordered sweet potato tempura, peanut avocado, Bay Shore roll (yesssss!), salmon avocado, yellowtail jalepeno, spicy crunchy tuna...all the good stuff. I am also partial to Udon noodles and the Yaki Udon veggie version is only $10. One down the street for me is $15, which I think is a bit overpriced for some noodles and veggies. But $10? A good deal for dinner. Our food was still warm when it arrived (the sweet potato and udon noodles), and the food was fresh, tasty and delicious. It may have even taken over our number 1 sushi spot. Their price points were better on average than the places in the village here. And, if I am being *totally* honest, they edged out the competition on flavor. Love Aji and have now ordered several times, definitely worth a little bit of an extra drive. We've ordered over the phone and they are super friendly. Let me start off by saying the service was excellent. Although the food came out a little slow, everyone working there was very kind. My friend and I were disappointed with how small the special rolls were. In comparison to the cheaper regular crunchy spicy salmon roll, the special $14 rolls were literally the same size. I understand there is a tiny bit amount of "more" meat but with almost every sushi place I have been to, you would automatically be able to tell which one is the special roll based on size and presentation. The special rolls were OK and honestly not worth it at all hence why we ordered another regular crunchy spicy salmon. The spider roll was disappointing as well - it kind of tasted plasticy. For 4.5 stars on yelp, my friend and I were expecting more from the sushi itself. read more

I was hoping it would be the same experience and it did not disappoint. They have a large menu with creative rolls that I haven't seen anywhere else. I had the Tri Color Three Way for dinner and my friend had a Monster roll. Both meals were melt in your mouth delicious. The sushi, once again, was so fresh and exquisite. I don't live in the area but I can tell you that if you haven't tried this place, run out there now and give it a shot. You cannot simply upgrade the side of rice from brown/white rice if you want it with fried rice, you must order the $10 fried rice. The fried rice was very disappointing, made without egg! The portion was also very small for $10. Basically it was some rice with a splash of soy sauce and frozen mixed vegetables. They also do not give any accompaniments for the hibachi dish that you would expect.
