I am surprised the reviews are not better because our experience was excellent. My daughter has ordered take out for lunch several times and has never been disappointed, so we stopped in on a Thursday evening. We were warmly greeted and seated, and service was excellent throughout our meal. I had the chicken teriyaki and it was excellent. Lots of tender, well seasoned chicken on top of a grilled onions and asparagus. It came with a cup of rice. My daughter had the spicy tuna rolls and the rockstar roll. She enjoyed both . The food was flavorful and service was excellent.

We really enjoy coming here for their lunch specials. Always great service and delicious food. The Veggie Udon soup is delicious with subtle flavor with Bok Choy and those skinny long white mushrooms. Comforting for a cold rainy day. It comes with a salad with yummy carrot ginger dressing. Bento boxes are fresh and filling. My only complaint is I wish the peanut and avocado rolls came with roasted peanuts instead of candies peanuts. I always feel relaxed in their surroundings with ambient music and the big Bubbha watching over me

TLDR: come for lunch over dinner. Great lunch specials and super friendly staff. ----- The staff here is always so kind. I've been here for lunch and dinner a few different times and they're so accommodating and pleasant -- checking in with us, offering water while we wait for takeout, constantly smiling, etc. I've only ever really gotten the sushi here, but it's always got giant pieces of fish in it and is overall pretty filling. Sometimes, I'll find an occasional bone in the fish or it'll be a bit fatty but otherwise it's consistently good for the price. Especially the lunch special - Three rolls for $15 isnt bad in this neighborhood! Miso soup is also excellent. While the restaurant is quiet and has a great interior, I recommend taking your food to go and eating it in the community park nearby!

This was our favorite sushi place in Park Slope. It's always been such a treat to dine here and savor our favorite dishes. Staff was friendly, but service was a bit lacking on a Friday night. The place was clean, and the ambiance was very nice. We ordered their special roll, Grateful roll: spicy kami avocado inside, and salmon, shrimp, and tobiko too with spicy mayo on the outside. This was amazingly delicious, and the highlight of our dinner. We also ordered our usual favorite, Miso Chilean sea bass. It was served with rice, broccoli and asparagus. The miso was on a separate side dish. This was a big disappointment as the pieces of Chilean sea bass were small, tasteless, and dry. Deciding not to drink tonight, we decided to order green tea with honey and lemon. Unfortunately, the tea was also not quite the same. Although we were overall disappointed, we will definitely give this restaurant another try.

Nice local place to stop in from on a cold day. Started out with Green Tea, then paced myself for some Miso soup accompanying a Sushi lunch special. Staff is so friendly and attentive! I really enjoy coming here for their fresh food and ingredients.

I'd just like to thank Kiku Asian Bistro for a great lunch this week. I think the total was under 16$ and they included some really delicious food! It brightened up a difficult day. Thank you so much !

Classic, simple Japanese cuisine. I do feel like their Salmon Teriyaki is a bit overpriced but everything I've tried is done to quite a high standard. If you go, you're best with their sushi. It hit quite well after my 20 mile bike ride.

Food was good. Service was ok, they aim to please. The ambiance was dark, but enough light to be enjoyable and intimate

I was in a post workout sushi kind of mood and strolled over to 5th Ave. Yelp showed some good reviews for Kiku Asian Bistro, and I decided to give it a try. I was the most important patron there, since I arrived early, and was the only diner! After a quick, friendly greeting, I selected a seat at the sushi bar. After reviewing their lunch specials, I selected the Sushi Bento Box, which comes with 4 pieces of Sushi, an 8-piece California Roll, 2 Japanese Shumai, Edamame, and a side salad or miso soup. I was dubious how this meal would be, as the total cost was only $12! The salad arrived immediately, and the Bento Box in about ten minutes. Candidly, I thought it was great. The Sushi was fresh, as was the salad. The dressing was tasty (next time I will get it on the side). The California roll is a smaller radius than typical, making it easier to eat. It was very tasty, and the edamame tasted freshly cooked. The service was excellent throughout the meal, and I was asked twice if it was to my liking, and if I wanted anything else. The traditional décor, and dark wood ambience is very pleasant. This was a great lunch, and an excellent value. I look forward to a repeat visit!

So where do I begin...I decided to visit Kiku for lunch because I had two pickie eaters with me. My niece only ate California rolls and she never likes to try anything. I told her she needs to try news things and she agreed. When we arrived at the restaurant, it was not crowded at all (A+), so we were able to sit closer to the television (the Olympics was on). The gentleman took our orders and returned with our beverages. Once the food arrived, I was delighted and so were they. The food was amazing, fresh, seasoned and ready to be devoured! The nice gentleman noticed my niece struggling with her chop sticksnand made her an easy to use one, by using a piece of paper and rubber band! I honestly couldn't thank him enough. Attentive, clean, and I was able to watch the Olympics! Food was amazing and I didn't break the bank. Safe to say, we're going back again soon. Thanks Kiku

This is an average sushi spot. It's not amazing, it's not outstanding but it will be there for you. Food seems avg, and aite for the price.

The inside is sleek, cozy, and medium lighting. Service (5/5): No issues with service since the restaurant was still fairly empty. Waitress was patient when we asked a slew of questions and her suggestions. Happy hour drinks were priced at $6 from 5:30p-7p with some tapas also at $5-7. Chicken dumpling (3/5) Red version: It was unique to find kernels of corn in the dumpling! I enjoyed the vinegar/soy sauce and chili oil. Next time, I would have liked to try the brown. Overall, there wasn't anything special about the steamed dumplings. Iron Men (3/5): I was disappointed since reviewers said that the broth would be very rich but it did not have much flavor to me even after using their house chili sauce (+$2). I definitely tasted the Iberian pork undertones but overall, I thought it was watery and didn't have much flavor without the chili. The poached egg was perfect. The rosemary oil was very subtle (cool presentation as it was provided in a dropper!) The noodles were perfect--chewy and bouncy. I thought the 2 slices of pork were thin but tender, also more lean and not fatty (not as ideal so did not melt in your mouth). Expensive for a bowl with little meat ($23). I did not use the miso paste as I did not love the aftertaste, which admittedly could be why the broth lacked flavor to me! Nagoya Miso Katsu-Don (N/A): I tried a little of the dish. I thought the pork was very crunchy and had a great taste. Boyfriend said the dish was nothing special.

Taylor's Tayke: Cafe Chili offers a fun introduction to Thai…read moreflavors through both its afternoon tea experience and its full dinner menu. What stood out most was the variety. From savory bites and traditional Thai dishes to tea service and desserts, there was plenty to explore throughout the visit. The afternoon tea service in particular offered a unique way to experience the menu beyond a traditional meal. My Taysty Tayke: Get Down & Dirty, Expeditiously: Fish in the Boat One of the most memorable dishes from the visit. Fresh salmon paired with bright flavors and a subtle kick of spice. It almost gave salmon salad vibes while still feeling distinctly Thai. Egg Tart Soft, creamy, and incredibly smooth. The texture was outstanding and easily one of the strongest items from the afternoon tea selection. Crying Tiger Skewer Tender, juicy, flavorful, and everything you'd want from grilled beef. Simple execution done extremely well. Hot Chai Tea Excellent on its own, but the addition of cinnamon elevated it even further by adding warmth and complexity to every sip. Shrimp Bite Loved the texture here. Fresh shrimp with a bright lime flavor and none of the chewiness that can sometimes hold shrimp dishes back. Duck Salad Fresh, juicy, and tender with great balance throughout. Macaron with Grape The grape added a fruity sweetness that complemented the macaron nicely without overpowering it. Pork Pastry Flaky, savory, and satisfying. Dumpling Solid texture and flavor throughout. Curry Puff Enjoyable curry flavor but could have used a little more punch. Thai Wings Well executed with good flavor throughout. Rice Ball Sweet, sticky, and compact. A nice contrast to some of the savory items. Chicken & Shrimp Fried Dumplings Enjoyable but didn't stand out as much as some of the stronger offerings. The Experience: The afternoon tea service was a pleasant surprise and offered a creative way to sample multiple flavors in one sitting. Pairing that with the dinner menu gave a well-rounded look at what Cafe Chili has to offer. Best For: Afternoon tea, casual lunches, catching up with friends, introducing someone to Thai cuisine, or exploring a variety of flavors in one visit. In Conclusion: Cafe Chili shines when it leans into dishes that balance freshness, texture, and bold flavor. The Fish in the Boat, Egg Tart, Crying Tiger Skewer, and Duck Salad were the standouts for me, while the afternoon tea experience adds a unique element you don't often find at Thai restaurants. If you're looking for variety and a mix of savory and sweet offerings, Cafe Chili is worth a visit. Stamped by Elajas

Maison Sun is an intimate dining space where guests are seated around a stainless-steel counter with an open-kitchen concept. They offer a Vietnamese fusion tasting menu for $185. I appreciate the growing recognition of Vietnamese cuisine and its elevation into the fine dining space. Unfortunately, this meal didn't quite hit the mark for me. Many of the flavor combinations felt disjointed and often clashed rather than complemented one another. Shrimp Mochi: It was good. Duck Egg Custard with Caviar: Delicious! It was creamy and well-balanced. Bread with Sea Urchin Butter: The butter was unique and tasted amazing. I could probably eat a whole stick of it. Foie Gras Katsu with Passion Fruit Candy: The foie gras itself was great, but the passion fruit candy felt awkward and out of place. NZ Hiramasa with Wood Ear Mushrooms: The wood ear mushrooms overpowered the fish, which was unfortunate because the hiramasa itself was quite good. I loved the lemongrass sauce. The lemongrass flavor was very subtle. Dry-Aged Moulard Duck with Black Rice and Makrut Leaf Curry: This was the standout dish of the night. The duck was deeply flavorful, and the curry paired beautifully with it. Tiger Prawn Phở: Very mushroom-forward in flavor. It was decent, but not particularly memorable. Secret Flavour Ice Cream: Fish sauce ice cream sounds unusual, but it was unique and surprisingly good. Opal Basil and Chrysanthemum Tea Infusion Sorbet: Refreshing and light--a nice way to end the meal. There's clear creativity and intention behind the menu, but the dishes lacked the harmony needed to make the experience truly memorable.
